Chapter 29: 30、Always one step behind
Michael Gordon?
That man just liked them big, and he didn’t care if they were natural or not.
Recalling how Michael had once mocked her for having a small chest and butt, and curves that were hardly distinguishable, Ivy’s gaze naturally fell upon Sophia’s proudly protruding chest.
“He knows nothing. As long as it looks big, he doesn’t care how it got that way!” Ivy despised Michael for his lack of discernnt.
“Ivy, you’re right about that. No matter if they’re real or fake, as long as they look big, all n are the sa. Why do you think that is?”
Sophia cried out while looking down at her own chest, which was naturally smaller, and constantly criticized by n. There was no love in this world.
Ivy knew what Sophia was thinking by the look on her face and patted her on the shoulder in consolation. “What else could it be? n are creatures who grew up on their mother’s milk, and when they grow up, they just stare at won’s chests!”
Sophia: “…”
After being stunned for a mont, Sophia gave Ivy a thumbs up: “Ivy, you’re a genius! How can we preserve the self-esteem of us ‘flat princesses’ then?”
Not bothered, Ivy shrugged and joked, “Easy, just don’t breastfeed future sons and only give them formula. Then when they grow up, they’ll only look at bottle nipples. That way, we flat princesses will have our springti!”
Sophia burst out laughing, just about to praise Ivy for her wit, when a deep, teasing voice cut in.
“Weren’t you bragging about having an international-standard chest last night? How co you discovered you’re a flat princess today? Did you deflate overnight? Or maybe you weren’t telling the truth last night!”
“Mr. Gordon?”
Sophia’s eyes widened in shock. Michael Gordon appearing in their office early in the morning and saying such things was simply unimaginable.
Subconsciously, Sophia’s gaze shifted to Ivy’s chest.
Last night? What happened was too…suggestive.
Feeling the lecherous gaze on her, Ivy’s ears beca hot, her face flushed, and she imdiately threw the newspaper at Michael’s face.
“Michael Gordon, have I offended you? Do what you want, just don’t damage my reputation in front of my colleagues. You want to force
to leave? Just be a man and do it!”
Everyone at Allure International knew that any woman rumored to be with Michael would beco the enemy of the company and be attacked until they left. In the end, none of Michael’s rumored girlfriends were from within the company.
Sophia looked at Michael, then looked at the red-eyed Ivy. Her gaze oscillated between the two of them, sensing a heavy tension and an unreadable emotion.
These two people definitely had… sothing going on!
As the start of work ti approached, more and more people arrived in the office. Having an important figure like Michael standing in the Legal Departnt’s office was like a stunning landscape.
Despite her outburst, Michael wasn’t angry. He stood there, leaning against the office door, watching her with an amused and enigmatic smile, deep and shallow gaze.
That familiar gaze made Ivy’s heart skip a beat. It was all too familiar; six years ago, after she was devoured by him, he looked at her with that very gaze.
Could it be that he rembered sothing?
Ivy found amnesia unreliable; there was always the chance of regaining mory, especially after a strong shock or stimulus. Monts before, she had publicly defied Michael in front of her colleagues; was that a huge shock for him?
The mont she thought of this possibility, Ivy panicked. She had finally knocked him into amnesia, but if she irritated him into regaining his mory, she would be digging her own grave.
Realizing this, Ivy beca frantic.
Ever observant, Sophia imdiately noticed Ivy’s regret and fear after standing up to Michael. After all, Ivy was still on probation, and anyone would care about an 8,000-dollar monthly salary.
Michael seed to enjoy watching Ivy slink back into submission. As Ivy looked helpless and unsure, Sophia could only diate since she simply liked Ivy too much.
“Mr. Gordon, I apologize on Ivy’s behalf. She didn’t an to disrespect you. Today, she’s on her period and suffering from cramps, making her irritable. Please don’t hold it against her!”
Ivy: “…”
Sophia really was one of a kind, saying such things in front of a man.
“Cramps?”
Michael’s eyebrows furrowed as he looked at Ivy up and down, clearly disbelieving Sophia’s story. “Do cramps affect your mood?”
“Yes, yes! Severe cases require bed rest. Just recently, websites and radio stations have been discussing whether won should be given extra days off for period pains! It’s very serious!”
Since she had already brazenly ntioned it, Sophia naturally had to make it sound as severe as possible. After all, she was telling the truth—this issue was already being discussed by various dia outlets.
Upon hearing Sophia’s words, Michael’s lightly furrowed brow imdiately tightened, and his expression turned cold. He glanced at Ivy and then left without a word.
Ivy’s usually sharp mind had been filled with cotton, unable to comprehend the aning behind his actions. Was it simply to co and mock her?
“Ivy, I didn’t offend Mr. Gordon, did I?” Sophia finally voiced her fear. “This was all for you! You can’t let him fire
just like that!”
Huh?
“You haven’t done anything wrong. He may be a tyrant, but he can’t be unreasonable!”
“Who’s calling
a tyrant? Ivy, how are you doing your job as secretary? Even though you’re just a substitute secretary, you need to fulfill your responsibilities. Gossiping first thing in the morning while the CEO makes his own coffee—are you sure you want to get fired?”
As they spoke, Maria Young, the chief of the Legal Departnt, entered and began scolding them.
Michael made his own coffee?
“Minister, I’ll get going!”
Ivy imdiately went back to her desk. Sophia’s period excuse wasn’t enough to get Ivy fired, but workplace inefficiency could easily jeopardize her probationary status.
As soon as Ivy returned to the secretary’s office, the receptionist from the lobby forwarded a phone call about soone wanting to et with Michael, asking if the CEO had ti to et.
After checking Michael’s schedule and waiting for his approval, Ivy arranged a eting ti. She then began organizing the data Michael had given her the night before about potential celebrity signings.
“Hello, I have an appointnt with Mr. Gordon. Excuse …”
A crisp, clear voice rang out, and the familiar sensation stirred Ivy’s mory. She hadn’t even looked up yet, and a flood of recollections surged within her.
