Chapter 182: 163, Shouldn’t I be jealous?

Under the night sky, standing amidst the city lights, he looked back and could not see the familiar silhouette in the enchanting light.

“Ivy…”

The sorrowful voice choked out, accompanied by the swaying, nearly collapsing body. Mario Jensen had drunk a lot in the night, feeling sowhat muddle-headed. The cold wind on the streets blew through, sobering up his aching head a little bit.

Ever since his last visit to the hospital to see Ivy, he hadn’t gone back. It wasn’t that he had given up, but he wanted Ivy to recuperate first. However, before she had fully recovered, she had already beco soone else’s.

He had planned to visit her again in the next few days to see how she was recovering. Just as he thought about this, but before he could act, news ca that they were married!

At that ti, he had just finished a eting. When he left the conference room, he heard a few of his departnt managers whispering to each other, with their phones in their hands, saying sothing like, “Even the God took a disabled woman as his wife, our hearts are shattered!” He rushed to his office with a blank mind, turning on both his computer and the TV series.

When he saw the image, the walls he had built up for a long ti collapsed…

His gaze was forever fixed on the mont when Michael Gordon carried Ivy out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, thanking the staff with a delicate and imposing smile on his handso face. It was a smile he had never seen before – gentle and intoxicating…

He had never expected that a man like Michael, who was arrogant and disdainful, would have such a side to him. He couldn’t see the expression on Ivy’s face, buried in Michael’s chest.

It must have been the sa for her. A girl like her would never be willing to be forced into sothing – not to ntion being seriously injured or even on her last breath. So, she must have done it willingly!

At that thought, Mario Jensen’s heart was enveloped in a sharp, piercing pain. The spasms made it hard for him to stand straight, so he leaned on the billboard on the side of the street. The alcohol-numbed head felt even more painful in the cold night breeze.

anwhile, the image of the familiar smiling face from years ago beca even clearer. He rembered when he visited the orphanage with his mother for the first ti, he had imdiately noticed the outstanding little girl in the crowd.

At that ti, all the children in the room were fighting for the gifts they brought, except for her. She stood quietly to the side, not doing anything. She simply stared at him curiously with her eyes and called him “big brother” out of the blue.

That one “big brother” made her crisp voice settle deep into his heart.

He once asked her why she called him “big brother” when he was only nine years old, which he thought wasn’t that big. In his mind, he should only be considered as a “little brother”.

Her answer was simple: she felt as if she had a little brother a long ti ago, so he could only be her big brother instead.

She also said that if she didn’t want to, she would call him uncle because she didn’t have an uncle.

He didn’t care if she was unwilling; after all, being called “big brother” was more suitable for him. He thought he could beco her big brother, but by the ti he visited the second ti, she was already gone. They said she had fallen ill, gone for treatnt, and then moved to another orphanage.

At that ti, he was very angry and upset for a long ti. His mother finally found out so information about her from the orphanage. Her na was Ivy Aretha, the only child of the late Aretha Family. Her parents were killed in a car accident.

The Aretha Family was huge, but there was no place for the orphan girl who had lost her parents. The director of the orphanage said that she had been sent there by her biological uncle after leaving the hospital. She didn’t know anything about her own situation, so she didn’t know how to feel sad or upset.

The director of the orphanage asked them not to get involved in other people’s family affairs.

Back then, he didn’t understand, but after years had passed, he did. He realized the kind of experiences young Ivy must have gone through to choose silence as a subconscious reaction to seeing others fighting for things.

He thought he would never see her again, but unexpectedly, he saw her under a sycamore tree on his first day at Andras University. Having not seen each other for years, she had grown from a 5-year-old girl into a young lady.

That lovely and quiet little girl had beco a young woman who could cause an uproar just by standing there. But she was no longer standing alone; there was a smiling young man beside her.

After a few twists and turns, he found out that the young man was nad Zach Gilbert, her boyfriend. He clearly heard the sound of his heart shattering. The girl who had entered his lonely soul from the beginning had already given her heart to soone else when they t again.

He could only beco her senior and the closest man to her besides Zach. But then, she suddenly disappeared as if evaporated from the world. He tried to find her for a long ti to no avail. That was when he started investigating the Aretha Family.

So his understanding of the right and wrong, and the gratitude and resentnt of the Aretha Family, began from that day. She was once a high-ranking lady but had beco an orphan due to a change of fate.

The Aretha Family didn’t want her anymore, but he wanted her. However, she disappeared from his world, vanishing like a mystery. When they t again, she had a child, and the child’s father was Michael Gordon.

He knew there was no love between them. She also admitted that it was all due to a mistake, so he wanted to seize the opportunities he had missed all this ti. But he lost without even trying. The first ti he was rejected, the second ti he was devastated, and the third ti, she was already soone else’s before he could even make a move!

They were married!

Should he pull himself together?

Should he break up their marriage?

“Mario, you drank too much! Why are you standing out here in the cold?”

The crisp, calm voice pierced his eardrums. Staggering, Mario looked up to see a familiar face. Just as he was about to take a step, he faltered, almost losing his balance. Lina Miller quickly caught him, “Co on, let’s go ho!”

Lina was probably the worst woman at comforting others. During their ti together, she offered nothing but silence and company. She never spoke about things she shouldn’t speak of nor asked questions she shouldn’t ask.

Just like now, although she clearly knew why he had drunk himself into this state, she remained silent and just helped him walk slowly before getting into the car.

“I called Mrs. Zinn, and she has prepared hangover soup for you!” Lina helped him get into the passenger seat and fastened his seatbelt as she spoke, “Now, I’ll take you ho!”

Going ho?

“No, I don’t want to go ho!” Mario Jensen almost grabbed her hand that was helping him buckle his seatbelt, and murmured, “I don’t want to go ho. It’s too cold at ho. I don’t want to go ho!”

Because of the alcohol, the usually unemotional and quiet Mario was talkative today. He looked into Lina’s deep eyes, almost pleading, “I don’t want to go ho, Ivy. I want to go ho with you!”

Hearing this, Lina’s body stiffened, her held hand trembled, and her heart ached with a familiar sour sadness, “Mario, Ivy is already married to Michael Gordon. They have a child. You can’t go to her now!”
