Zyair was in high spirits the next morning. He stayed awake till late, talking to her and then had so blissful sleep without the usual nightmares that plagued him.

ena observed that after many days her son was in a cheerful mood. They were having breakfast together.

"How is Mrs Blackthorn now? I spoke to Amsilia and she was very worried about her daughter-in-law," she communicated while taking a bite of her toast.

"Skyla is recovering but such incidents leave permanent scars," Zyair heavily sighed, taking a piece of mango with his fork and plopping it in his mouth.

"Her reputation is tarnished, everyone is painting Doran as a hero in our circle. What an inspiring man he is, accepting the wife back with a besmirched reputation. That’s what has been running around," ena inford him of what the ladies in her circle were saying and what the dia was printing.

The rage he was trying to snub began to resurface and the fork in his hand bent due to the force he applied to it. This feral look had coated his mostly surreal eyes and ena was astonished to see such a side of her son.

"Zyair! Calm down, son. What’s wrong?" she asked in a panicked voice.

"Nothing." Zyair placed the fork down and wiped his face with the napkin before putting on his mask.

"I have to go, mom, I will see you in the evening. Have a good day," he briefly greeted her before pushing the chair back and getting up to take his leave.

"Goodbye, son," she wearily watched his receding figure, not understanding what triggered him. He had been happy today and he went with a sulking face.

Doran’s best friend Caleb and his wife were also shocked to hear the news. What shocked them more was how Doran had been missing for five days now.

The news that he had spread said he had shifted to an unknown location with his wife because of the threat but he knew that was not true. Doran had left Angel City and he had gone alone. Even his secretary Karen didn’t know where he had gone and she always knew everything about him.

He couldn’t wrap his head around Doran’s bizarre behaviour and he was not even taking his calls. Caleb was left in charge of the company with no news of when Doran would be returning or where he had gone.

So he asked his wife to call Skyla and ask her about her health. They didn’t want to complicate the situation but they wanted to let her know they were thinking of her and would be there if she needed any help.

Skyla ensured them that she was safe with her friend and they needn’t worry. For Doran, she had no clue where he was.

"Don’t you at tis feel like Doran is hiding sothing? I an we hardly ever et Skyla and now with everything he just disappeared. Leaving his wife behind and lying to the world." Laisa asked her husband, Caleb.

"Yes, sothing has been going on with him lately. At tis he seems too paranoid. You know he has a very dark past. He doesn’t talk about it but he was abused and it slightly ssed with his mind. That calm pretence slips at tis and the real Doran is scary. I have known him for 15 years and I still think I don’t know him at all."

Caleb confided in his wife who was a bit taken aback at this news.

"Abused? By whom?" Laisa couldn’t help but ask. So Caleb told her bits and pieces of what he knew about Doran’s childhood and Laisa was horrified.

"I hope he doesn’t extend that darkness to Skyla. That’s pretty ssed up," Laisa uttered in disbelief.

" too. No one should go through sothing like that. I guess that’s the reason they don’t even have kids. Doran doesn’t want them. At least that’s what he always says when I speak to him about this matter."

"But, isn’t that unfair to Skyla? She is so sweet," Laisa clicked her tongue in disapproval.

"I know, baby. I hope everything works out between them." He wrapped his arms around his wife and kissed her head.

" too, Caleb," and she lted into his touch.

Lawrence found Zyair in a pretty bad mood. Instead of sitting in his office, he was seated in Skyla’s. Anything to feel closer to her.

He was huffing and puffing like an enraged bull who had been denied a fight.

Lawrence had gone to him to fetch his phone like he always did but for a few days, Zyair refused to give his phone and mostly kept it by his side.

Zyair had also put a lock on the ssages and gallery. Lawrence could no longer access them and he wondered what secrets he was keeping. It must be sothing related to Miss Skyla.

"Any more wrinkles on your forehead and they will beco permanent," Lawrence teased seeing him work with a permanent scowl on his extrely handso face. Skyla was not here and others were not permitted on this floor so he had taken off his mask today.

"Whatever!" he mumbled and continued working. Lawrence snorted at his answer.

"What’s wrong? Spill and don’t say ’nothing’."

Zyair lifted his eyes and then placed the pen down. Instead, he picked up one of Skyla’s action figures of Kakashi she had placed on her work desk.

"Doran, that’s what is wrong. I want to bury him alive. I know he is involved with whatever has happened with Skyla. I just can’t prove it and now he is using it to his advantage to win favours with people and the dia is turning him into a hero when he is a fucking abuser."

Zyair vented his heart out. He needed soone to listen to him.

"Hmm. We need Miss Skyla’s testant on this. I wonder what he threatens her with that she goes through his abuse. No one just takes it for so long. There has to be a reason." Lawrence wondered aloud.

Zyair knew the reason very well. Skyla had told him when they had first t and he was trying to find the solution to that problem.

Her father’s company. According to the information he had collected, there was a certain signed docunt by Mr Adams which had given the rights over to Doran.

The company can’t be sold but there was a clause that when Miss Skyla learned the trade she would beco the rightful owner of it. Now Doran had kept that docunt who knows where. If only Zyair could get his hands on the docunt he would be able to set her free.

He knew she was more than capable of handling the company with his guidance. Doran was just a temporary guardian and he had permanently usurped it.

The question was, how was he going to get his hands on that docunt?

"Yes, we do. If only she would place enough trust in ," Zyair leaned back holding the figurine.

He knew he had to keep trying, they had co a very long way and he couldn’t rush or falter now that he was close to achieving what he had planned.
