Huria needed to know what Zyair’s intentions were towards her friend. She knew from the countless etings they had in the last three months that he was a very upright man and Skyla always spoke highly of him.

Still, she had to ask him, she couldn’t let Skyla get hurt.

So she waited until he erged from her room, with his broad shoulders slumped and his eyes coated with this deep-seated bleakness. He sagged on the sofa in her living room opposite Lawrence while she brought him tea and sat down with Lawrence and faced him.

Both of them watched him in urgency as he tried to bring the emotional wreck under his hold. His hand gripped his hair as Zyair brushed them aside. Huria cleared her throat before talking to him.

"Mr Zyair!"

His sharp eyes flickered to her holding questions.

She gulped.

Huria was not the kind of woman who felt intimidated by n but Zyair always unsettled her. That darkness he carried, affected people around him.

"I saw you holding her hand and wanted to ask what your intentions are with my friend." She gathered enough courage to finally inquire.

He pinned her with his subtle glare. Not saying a word, the tension rose around them. Lawrence sensed that unease, the one he always tried to avoid from his boss but he was also dying to know why he was interested in a married woman when thousands of others wanted to beco his mistresses, girlfriends, lovers or any other capacity he would have them.

"Only good ones, Miss Huria. I can assure you that," his dark rich voice was overwhelming, there was no hint of joy in it.

"Mr. Zyair, Skyla has a very complicated life. Don’t overcomplicate it, if her husband finds out..." Zyair didn’t let her finish as he raised his hand to make her pause.

"He won’t, and I would never put her in such a position. But I need to know what she is going through, so I can help her. Sobody needs to tell ."

The serpent of anger he was trying to bury was rearing its head again. Every ti he was reminded of her jerk of a husband, his blood would boil over.

"It’s not my place to tell, only she can do that and I hope she will trust you enough to do it."

If only Zyair knew what had been done to her only because she wouldn’t betray him. Zyair’s hand rubbed his forehead in irritation.

How long was he supposed to wait until she would open up to him?

He was tired of standing on the sidelines and seeing her get hurt.

In the past four months since he had entered her life, this was the third ti already. And these were the ones he knew.

What she went through daily was still hidden from his eyes.

"Miss Huria this much I know that Doran raises his hand on her. I am not blind and I am so fucking tired, no I am exhausted of his bullshit. So help , help her get rid of him," he spat out these words in pure disgust.

Lawrence and Huria drew in sharp breaths at the revelation. Huria covered her mouth with her hands, she hadn’t anticipated for him to know or say it out.

"He does?" Lawrence ghastly faced Huria and she just nodded her head too stunned to formulate words.

"Ohh!" Was all Lawrence could muster. Skyla was such a spirited and kind person. How could her husband do that?

"Both of you wanted to know what my intentions are with her. It’s just to set her free from the clutches of that fiend. She is innocent and doesn’t deserve the life she is living. So I ask both of you to help convince her to leave him behind. Not force her but talk to her naturally, preparing her mind so she can open up to . Will you help ?"

There was this raw pain in his voice as he revealed to them what he hadn’t revealed to anyone. He knew he couldn’t do it alone and he trusted them.

Huria’s eyes had enlarged in shock, she knew he was extra caring towards Skyla but this was a whole new territory. This was what Huria had been begging Skyla for years but that stubborn girl won’t listen.

"I will help you, I want him gone from her life but it will not be easy to convince her," Huria answered, leaning back on the sofa and crossing her arms.

"I am in too, Miss Skyla deserves better," Lawrence chipped in, he had beco so attached to her and hearing all this deeply hurt him. No one deserved this kind of life.

"Good, rember never to push her. But keep building trust gradually, once she knows she can trust that’s the day I will make my move." Zyair revealed, drumming his fingers on the armrest.

They agreed and assured him of their full cooperation on this matter. Huria would want nothing else than to have her best friend be free of this nightmare she was stuck in, day and night.

But did Zyair want her? Or was he only helping her as a gesture of goodwill?

The expensive gifts he showered her with.

What she had just witnessed in the room and the way he longingly stared at her–told Huria there was so deep connection he held with Skyla. She asked.

"Mr. Zyair, can I ask you a question?"

"Yes!"

She hesitated but she needed the truth.

"Are you doing it just for her or is there sothing more you feel for Skyla?"

Huria searched his eyes to see the truth and they swirled like a deep ocean which held nothing but tenderness. She was not a child to not understand this was for Skyla.

What he felt for that girl was beyond anyone’s understanding. For now, he didn’t comprehend it himself but he knew there was only one woman he would ever want to be with.

Her na was Skyla.

"I don’t think I have the liberty to answer that for now. But I would never hurt her, never raise my voice or hand on her. She is too precious for and I want her to have the freedom of making her own choices. The real question would be, what are her feelings?"

His words were interrupted when Skyla’s voice rang out from the room.

"Huria!"
