Before Zyair could even respond or formulate words to say to calm her down.

Before he had even taken all of her sorrows in and proceeded to envelop her with his assurance.

The door flew open and Huria entered in a hurry.

"Doran is here, I guess the news travels fast," she inford and proceeded to stand beside Skyla in a protective manner.

He was thankful that Huria had entered the room before Doran, seeing her alone with Zyair would raise questions and suspicions. Sothing they couldn’t afford.

Zyair’s eyes wavered to the injured girl and he observed how a panicked look settled on Skyla’s face as she clutched her friend’s hand. More tears spilt out of her deeply sorrowed eyes. She was trembling with fear, her lips wobbled and was extrely agitated.

"It will be fine," Huria assured her with the determination and stance of a tigress. Everyone deserves a friend like Huria, she was such a force to reckon with.

The door to the room was yanked open again, Doran and a middle-aged woman entered. Both looked frantic, and while one was genuinely concerned the other was faking it.

"Skyla, my girl. Are you alright?" She asked in a panicked voice and rushed to her side before cupping her face. Her other hand caressed Skyla’s hair. Huria didn’t budge, she just watched the newcors with so much contempt as if she wanted to bore holes in them with her re gaze.

Doran’s eyes swept to Zyair and disdain flitted through them but he quickly masked it.

"Mr. Zyair, you have arrived?" he asked in surprise.

"Yes, Huria called . I just got here," Zyair inford the man.

Skyla only shook her head to her mother-in-law’s words but her scared eyes were fixated on her husband. He had shifted and was now standing near her feet like a joy reaper with his arms crossed and jaw tensed.

"I am so relieved you are safe Skyla, you had us all worried," he addressed her in a low concerned tone which Skyla knew too well was extrely fake. Huria’s glare deepened and her hand fisted.

"I would like to talk to my wife before the police interview her. If you all would excuse us," Doran unhurriedly asked the people in the room and Skyla’s grip tightened around Huria’s hand. The fear passed through her like a shock wave.

"I am staying right here, can’t you see how scared she is? Police can talk to her later," Huria glared at him, the determination in her voice didn’t sit well with Doran.

Doran gave her a sceptical look, the tension in the room escalated as Amsilia frantically stared between Doran and Huria while Zyair critically assessed the situation.

He then diverted his whole concentration towards Skyla; she was scared out of her wits and didn’t want to be alone with her husband. But did they have an option?

"Huria, go. I will be fine," she finally spoke in a very tiny and broken voice, letting go of her friend’s hand.

"I am not leaving you," Huria’s resolve didn’t waver one bit.

"You understand she is my wife first and I can literally stop you from eting her if you create problems between us. Don’t test , Huria," his low and threatening voice did nothing to deter her and Zyair was sure she would have lunged at the man.

"Miss Huria, we will stay just outside. Co," Zyair called her out and she stopped. Turning to Skyla she cupped her scared face and said.

"I am right outside. Call if you feel overwheld. I won’t let anyone hurt you."

Her words were cryptic but Doran’s jaw tightened further. Skyla blinked away her tears and her eyes flickered to Zyair in a silent plea to not leave her with this demon.

The helplessness of that mont deeply perturbed him and it was only Huria’s voice that brought him to his senses. He was guiltily staring at Skyla. Leaving her with the devil but at that mont he didn’t have a choice. If he interfered too much Doran would get suspicious and that was sothing Zyair couldn’t afford, now that he was so near to achieving what he had been planning for eight and half years.

"All of you wait in the corridor. Let have a mont with my wife." This ti Doran’s words were directed towards Zyair, so like a jilted man he slowly walked out. He knew overstepping in this mont would only create chaos and he wanted none of that for now. Not until Skyla learned to trust him enough.

Once the door of the room closed shut, Zyair leaned against the wall.

"You are Skyla’s boss? Mr Zyair? I am her mother-in-law," Amsilia introduced herself and Zyair nodded at her without saying anything. His attention was on Huria, she was impatiently pacing the corridor and muttering incoherent words under her breath.

Amsilia’s phone began to ring so she walked off with it to answer it and Zyair saw the opportunity to talk to Huria.

"Miss Huria, what’s going on? I need the truth. What has happened to Skyla?" He had understood that there was more to the story and Huria knew.

She clenched her hands and turned to him with her face contorted in anger. Even the veins in her neck were straining.

"If only I could. But Skyla would never forgive if I did. You have to ask her because I am tired of seeing her getting hurt. All I can say is her husband is the biggest asshole I have ever seen in my life."

Her words set his world ablaze and his suspicions that sothing else was at play were proved right. He knew as Skyla’s best friend she knew a lot more about her abuse than Zyair did and how valid her hatred for the man was.

But why was she quiet on this front? He needed to know everything and while Skyla might never open up to him Huria was his chance to get to the truth.

"You need to tell everything, Miss Huria. If Skyla is in danger then I will help her," he told her in a hush so no one else would hear.

Huria’s face shone with hope but she was interrupted by the arrival of the police. They were here to take her statent and Huria wanted to be there for Skyla. So she excused herself and followed the police inside.

The next few hours were spent with Skyla lying to the police and telling a story of how two n kidnapped her and took her to a secluded place. But she ran away by throwing dirt in their eyes and in her run she collided with the car and got injured.

Doran added that he had enemies in the business world and that could be one of his enemies. The notion that she was able to run away easily was taken in the context that they just wanted to send a warning to Doran.

So at the end of the day, Doran gathered all the sympathies of the dia and his fans while Skyla was left devastated and Huria more angered at the lies he made her speak.
