Skyla hesitated for a second before responding, not eting her friend’s eyes.
"Mr Zyair bought this for at Comic-Con."
Huria gasped loudly as her fingers grazed on the pin studded with diamonds and eralds.
"Shut up! Are you serious? It’s covered in diamonds." She was stunned.
"Yeah! That was my exact reaction and I tried to refuse but he requested," Skyla explained to her friend. Huria was the only person she was going to confide this in.
"What an amazing man he is, Sky. For soone who doesn’t like won, this is him going beyond. And you have earned this, I am sure you are doing a stellar job of being his secretary." Huria held her shoulders and bead, too happy that her friend was receiving the recognition she deserved all along.
"I don’t know Huria. Most of the stuff he manages himself and he never over-burdens . Nor do I have to pick up his clothes or food or drinks. Instead, I feel like he takes care of ," Skyla confided in her bestie with a deep sigh, her shoulders slumped and head fell.
"That shows he is a great boss and they are very rare. Nothing wrong with having him pamper you, no one deserves it more than you, girl. So keep your head high." Huria lifted her head and reassuringly smiled at Skyla. She returned it before asking.
"How is Mr Rais with you?"
"Mine is a sweetie and sotis I think he fears a bit. Whenever I get slightly angry when people under are slacking, he gets this nervous look in his eyes too if I am going to give him a piece of my mind too."
Huria shrugged her shoulders while Skyla was chuckling.
"Go easy on your boss."
They were interrupted by a knock on the door and Lawrence entered after Skyla gave permission.
"Lari! How are you?" Huria clapped her hands together, seeing the younger boy.
"Hello! I am charming as always, big sis. How are you?" He moved forward and both shook hands enthusiastically.
"I am aweso as you can see," she heartily chortled. Both of them carried the sa positive energy that filled any place with their enthusiasm and confidence.
All three of them began to converse with ease until they were called back by Zyair.
Rais was ready to leave and the way Zyair shook hands with him showed they had developed that mutual respect.
"You will have to grace us with your visit now. I hope we people can et over dinner soday soon." Rais was delighted to et Zyair, he had assud the man might be quite proud due to the status he held.
But his opinion changed after this eting, he understood that Zyair Kincaid was a deep and reserved man who held pride but in small pockets. He could either beco your trustful Allie or your worst enemy. Rais wanted to fall into the forr category.
"Let’s do that, ladies will join us as well," Zyair declared, casting a profound look at Skyla. Huria didn’t miss how his eyes wavered to her now and then.
"Of course!"
"Thank you for having us Mr. Zyair. We will keep pestering you now," Huria chuckled, making others laugh with her. Zyair nodded with a demure glint in his eyes.
They took their leave after that and Skyla and Lawrence saw them off. Huria hugged her friend one last ti and thanked her for the gift and all the hospitality.
They were about to head back when Lawrence received a call from Zyair to bring Amber from Marketing and Sales.
"Miss Skyla, you go ahead I have to fetch Amber," Lawrence inford her before heading in the other direction and Skyla took the elevator to the top.
Reaching his office she knocked again and entered with his permission. His executive chair was tilted sideways as he sat observing the outside world. Seeing her he straightened up.
"That went well. I liked Rais and will be looking forward to working with him. He is smart with a level head," Zyair elucidated, motioning her to co sit opposite him instead of behind the red line. Skyla obeyed without hesitation and he watched her with this softness in his bluish orbs.
"Yes! The collaboration will benefit both the companies."
"True. Would you like to bet sothing, Miss Skyla," he haughtily asked and Skyla observed mischief dancing in his eyes.
"Like?" She didn’t understand what he was referring to.
"Will Amber lose her mind when I inform her that I made a deal regarding Desire without consulting her?" He was trying not to laugh and Skyla had to bite her lower lip from doing the sa.
"You didn’t consult her?" Skyla asked but the knock on his door had their attention diverted.
"Co in," he answered in a gruff voice, a voice he had never used with Skyla.
Amber entered like a tiny whirlwind she was, flipping her hair back and jutting her upper body out. The top buttons of her blouse were open revealing quite an amount of cleavage.
How did she always look so perfect and seductive? Skyla wondered.
"Sir!" Her eyes danced with desire as she moved closer to the red line and halted but the light dimd as soon as she saw Skyla sitting across from Zyair way past the red line. The vein in her temple ticked as she clenched and tightened her jaw.
Zyair took his sweet ti answering her. He was not in a hurry, never was.
"Miss Amber, take a seat," he pointed to the one beyond the red line and she used all the seductive postures she knew to settle down. Skyla had to use quite a bit of self-restraint from rolling her eyes.
"I wanted to inform you that we are collaborating with Won Fashionista regarding ’Desire’," he went on to inform her of what they had discussed in the eting and how they would be proceeding regarding the future marketing campaign.
By the ti Zyair had stopped talking Amber’s face was flushing red. She felt embarrassed that she hadn’t been included in this matter.
"Sir! I should have been part of that eting. I had a right to attend it," she tried to keep the disbelief out of her voice but it was plastered on her face that she was not happy with the decision.
"You would have been if I had seen it fit, I didn’t. Talk to their sales departnt and discuss further strategies on how you people will campaign further for it. Lawrence will provide you with all the needed information," he inford her, averting his gaze to Skyla.
"But, Sir," she tried to protest.
"That will be all, you may leave," his next words were decisive, said with an authority that washed over her making her mouth clamp shut. His blue eyes cast a dark look at her.
She quietly got up and threw one final irritated glance at Skyla before leaving the room.
"I would have lost the bet. She seed murderous," Skyla let out with a huff and all that darkness evaporated from Zyair’s eyes and he tilted his head before saying.
"Yes, indeed. You are still naive to the cunning ways of businesswon. Don’t worry, that’s why I am here. To teach you."
And then he heartily smiled under his mask. There was so much more he wanted to teach her, all in due ti though.
