Donning a powder blue three-piece suit with a gold dust-shaded tie and the sa coloured mask, he had one hand deep into his pants pocket. His silken locks were combed forward and set neatly in place while the clothes tightly hugged all his corded muscles.

Zyair Kincaid was so easy on the eyes and everyone wanted to take a second glance at this arcane man.

Skyla couldn’t help but remain tongue-tied at his charismatic presence for a few seconds when she finally regained her senses and answered.

"Sir!"

"How are the arrangents?" he asked, taking a step further towards her until they were only a few feet apart.

"I think everything is in perfect order," she offered a small smile and he couldn’t help but be affected by it.

"Good, I will stay for a short while, make a few introductions and leave. Gatherings are not my cup of tea. You will be my eyes and ears for the rest of the event."

Skyla had understood by now that he felt uncomfortable among a crowd, especially in a female gathering.

"I understand..."

Skyla was rudely interrupted by Amber as she excitedly joined them and began to speak in between.

"Sir! Everything is ready. What is your opinion?" She was holding the anded flyers. Now they had the scented part.

Zyair didn’t appreciate her interjecting herself in their conversation and forgetting that she was not supposed to approach him until summoned. The small creases on his forehead revealed his disapproval and Amber instantly realised her mistake.

"Miss Amber, don’t interfere in my conversation until I call for you. This is rude," the slight chiding in his voice had her instantly apologising.

"I am sorry, in my excitent I forgot my manners. I apologise," she lowered her needy eyes but her heart was fluttering like a hummingbird. What wouldn’t she give just to touch this man?

"Keep that in mind for the future. Ensure that guests tonight are properly attended to. We want this event to be a huge success," Zyair stated before walking away, having no inclination to carry out a conversation with the likes of Amber.

Once Zyair was gone, she snorted her nose and thrusted so flyers in Skyla’s hands.

"Help out, won’t you?" her judgental eyes taking Skyla in as a permanent scowl seed to have settled on her scarlet lips.

"Of course!" Skyla happily smiled while Amber trotted away on her crimson heels.

The hall began to quickly fill as guests began to arrive. Skyla walked around eting and greeting everyone, distributing the flyers and ensuring people took in the scent of the new perfu.

A lot of celebrities, dia and figures of the high class had been invited to the prestigious event. Soon the hall was an amalgamation of hues, fragrances and riches.

Champagne glasses clinked, caras clicked, dresses swirled, chatter and laughter filled the air. This was an atmosphere of the rich and affluent.

Zyair had taken a small corner where he stood with two guards now and a few male celebrities. They were here to ensure no one tried anything funny, especially so drunken girl. He was planning to leave as the hall was filling up by the second, suffocating him.

His eyes wandered over to Skyla, he wanted to confirm she was comfortable before leaving when he saw her standing rather rigidly staring at the entrance.

He followed her line of sight and observed that her husband had just walked in with a female. Although they were not holding hands or anything, there was this air about them that they knew each other too well.

Skyla’s expression had turned one of shock as she couldn’t peel her eyes off the woman beside her husband.

Could it be a mistress? One only Skyla knew about? Zyair couldn’t help but wonder.

Doran leisurely sauntered over to his wife while the woman stayed behind; mingling with the crowd, taking a champagne glass and sipping it.

Zyair kept a watchful eye on Doran’s actions. He neared his wife and murmured sothing incoherent in her ear. The look of shock lted away into a fearful one and he saw Skyla taking a deep gulp and nodding her head. He placed a small kiss on the side of her temple and stood by her side, motioning for the woman to join them.

She smiled the most artificial smile Zyair had ever seen, and Zyair had seen plenty of won smile in his life. He could read them like an open book.

She extended her hand to Skyla and she shook it with a very hollow smile which didn’t reach her srising eyes. The air of surety Skyla had been carrying dimd and her posture slouched in the presence of these two people.

Zyair had seen enough. Against all his better judgnt. He addressed the people standing with him.

"Excuse ."

He squeezed past them in a hurry. His guards wearily watched where he was going. They quickly flanked him as he neared the trio and paused at so distance before speaking in that authoritative voice of his.

"Mr. Doran, I am glad you made it."

All three of them turned to face him and Doran quickly plastered a phoney smile on his face.

"Good evening, Mr. Zyair. It’s a very fine event. Thank you for inviting us. This is my long-ti secretary, Karen," he introduced the obnoxious woman beside him and Zyair’s nose scrunched up seeing her close by.

She was older than them, at least in her early forties and with so many fillers in her face she looked nothing less than a puffer fish. And then it dawned on Zyair who the woman actually was. The wave of pure disgust washed over him turning his eyes hostile.

On the other hand, her eyes had this hungry glint as they sized Zyair. Even though she knew he avoided physical contact with females she tried to take a step towards him.

"Stay where you are, Miss Karen, and enjoy your evening. I am here for my secretary. You people are hoarding her," the razor-sharp steely tone of his voice clipped the overbearing wings Karen had just grown and she stopped dead in her tracks. That seductive grin disappeared.

"Oh! Of course, we were just saying hello. We won’t keep her," Doran ushered Skyla forward and she deeply exhaled before eting Zyair’s eyes. The flickers of gratitude were very much visible which Zyair didn’t miss.

"There was sothing which needed your attention," Zyair explained as he turned to walk away followed at a distance by Skyla. While the two figures closely watched their receding backs.
