The morning of the event arrived. Skyla chose a silver off-the-shoulder gown for tonight’s event. She had decided to take the dress and silver heels along, deciding to change right before the event started.

Doran hadn’t co ho last night so she didn’t know if he would be attending the event or not. Not letting her thoughts linger on her husband she got ready for her day and applied a thick layer of make-up again. The bruises hadn’t healed yet.

Unable to sleep last night, Skyla ended up baking cookies, she filled up a glass jar and decided to take it along for her boss. Making better use of her hands than what she had intended while lying down.

She bid goodbye to her mother-in-law and Mada Maven. Both won were content that Skyla seed cheerful that day.

Hailing a cab, Skyla arrived at her workplace and greeted everyone along the way. She was in a much better mood today. The event had her excited and she was looking forward to hosting it. There was this surge of energy inside her today.

Taking the private elevator, she reached her office. Placing the cookie jar on her table she started brewing coffee for Mr. Zyair, just the way he liked it. Taking out a few cookies she neatly arranged them on the plate along with his cappuccino and went on to wish him good morning.

Her knock was instantly answered by his, "Co in."

She entered with her rosy-cheeked smile illuminating his office like he wanted every morning.

"Good morning, Sir!" she cheerfully greeted while seeking permission to step closer to his enormous desk.

"Good morning, Miss Skyla! How are you feeling today?" he asked while pointing towards the table so she could place the plate. His eyes took in her fresh smile and the tons of makeup that still coated her neck and face.

"Very well, Sir. I baked so cookies so I brought them along. I hope you will like them with your coffee," she said, placing the plate down and stepping back beyond the red line.

A childish twinkle descended in his bluish orbs as his eyes darted to ho-baked chocolate chip cookies. His childhood lacked such delicacies, his biological mother had never cooked anything.

So ho-cooked food was sothing he relished and this was about to be the first ti he would be eating sothing solid that Skyla had cooked.

"That was very thoughtful, I am sure they are going to be delicious," his eyes stayed on the mouth-watering cookies. They were so big, almost the size of his palms and he couldn’t wait to sink his teeth into them.

Seeing his greedy eyes, Skyla couldn’t help but chuckle before saying.

"I will leave you to them then, enjoy." She quietly exited his office so he could relish them in peace.

Only ten minutes had elapsed when her office door was knocked. She raised her head and answered. She thought it would be Lawrence.

"Co in." To her utter surprise, it was Zyair who had knocked and now calmly walked in. She quickly stood up feeling a bit apprehensive. He had never co to her office so far. It was so unlike him to be here.

"Sir! You should have called . Anything wrong?" She quickly asked, feeling nervous.

"Yes," he rubbed the back of his head, his eyes betraying him as they darted to her table. Skyla waited, holding her breath. It had to be sothing utterly serious for him to co over.

"Umm, I wanted more of those cookies. They are so yummyliciously delicious," Zyair reluctantly uttered. Not taking his eyes off the cookie jar that sat so invitingly on her desk.

Skyla pursed her lips to not burst out laughing but couldn’t hold it in for long. Their eyes t and both of them cracked up.

"I thought it was sothing serious." She slightly shook her head.

"Well, it was. My cookies ended. I want the complete jar now and don’t tell Lawrence or he will want them too. I am in no mood to share." The seriousness in his tone on such a trivial matter made Skyla chuckle so more. She hadn’t anticipated that he would love them so much.

"I will place it in your office, Sir. And it will remain filled from now onwards." She extended her hand and picked up the jar.

"Do you promise? I take such promises very seriously." He suspiciously eyed her and she squeezed her lips tightly shut. Laughing again would be rude when he was trying to act like that.

"Do you want to make a pinky promise?" she teasingly asked, giving him a slight grin.

"Well if it ans I get to eat cookies daily, then yes." Zyair was not going to give up.

The air of formality between them had slightly lifted today and they were easing into this conversation.

To his surprise, she lifted the pinky finger of her free hand and pledged.

"In the presence of the god of cookies. I take this oath that from today onwards this jar will remain brimming with a multitude of cookies. Failing to achieve this feat will earn the boss the right to demand double the amount of cookies."

Zyair’s eyes glead with so much affection at her words, his fine lines rged as he heartily laughed and raised his finger as well while remaining close to the door.

"Donuts. I want doughnuts in compensation," he demanded like a greedy man.

"Done deal on doughnuts, Sir."

The pinky promise was made between them and the deal was settled with compensation.

"I am waiting for the jar of cookies," he turned around to leave, a permanent smile etched on his handso face. Skyla couldn’t see it but she could surely feel it.

"Coming right up," she desperately wanted to call him Cookie Monster but restrained herself. She didn’t want to take the joke too far. He might get offended. Not knowing he would never get offended by her.
