"Miss Skyla!" he acknowledged her with a small nod of his head.
"Sir!" Skyla respectfully answered as she slowly closed the door behind her and stood with her hands clasped.
"Please! Join ," he pointed to her designated seat and waited until she ca forward and reluctantly sat down. Feeling his constant gaze on herself. All she wanted was for him to not discover the bruises on her face and neck.
He gracefully ensconced himself on the chair facing the opposite direction and took off his mask.
Skyla observed that like the first day, there was a white lily in the vase on her table again. So fresh unlike her, she thought to herself. Reaching out she plucked it out and bringing it closer to her nose took a deep whiff, enjoying the fresh sll. Her slim fingers caressed the velvety petals, feeling the smooth texture.
Without thinking further, Skyla placed the flower in her fiery hair, it sat in such contrast.
Such finesse, such pureness.
"How did you find the team?" Zyair’s calm voice brought her back from the peaceful world of a beautiful flower. She collected her thoughts and answered.
"I think it’s a very balanced one. They had such innovative ideas and I am very much looking forward to working with them."
She placed so salad on her plate and took a bite. Zyair kept an engaging conversation going with her trying to keep her distracted so her mind wouldn’t waver to whatever she went through at ho.
"Yes, I want the costus to start rolling out as soon as possible. I have another eting in two hours, regarding the event we are holding tomorrow. You will accompany and jot down all the important points we will discuss," he inford her while cutting into his steak.
"Alright, sir."
"Tomorrow night you will have to accompany and stay late for the event. Make sure to inform Doran beforehand or I can always do that on your behalf. He has been invited too," Zyair didn’t want her getting into trouble and knew if he would talk to Doran there was less chance he would flip out.
Skyla’s heart clenched at the ntion of her torntor and her hand shook before instantly going to her throat. Her silence spoke volus for Zyair.
"I will inform Doran," Zyair said with finality and Skyla barely choked out a thank you. The lounge fell extrely silent, the awkward quietude Zyair found disturbing.
"How was your lunch with your friend yesterday?" he asked out of the blue, trying to have a conversation with her, while finishing his lunch so he could dive right into the chocolate dessert.
"It was good, we were able to catch up. She is a huge fan of your cosplays," Skyla disclosed with a knowing smile and her mind wondered how he must look under the mask. The desire to turn her head and take a peek at his side pose was overwhelming.
"Another lady with a taste, no wonder she is your best friend. Why don’t you invite her over tomorrow," he suggested, wiping his face with the napkin.
"I can?" The hint of excitent in her voice was not missed by Zyair and he smiled as he enjoyed his dessert.
"Of course." His answer pleased her.
"Thank you, Sir. She can be a handful but I will keep her reins on," Zyair laughed at her words before putting his mask on and pushing the chair back.
Both of them simultaneously got up and turned to face each other. There was not a wrinkle on his elegant attire even after sitting down so many tis. He had a knack for carrying himself in a dapper manner.
His eyes travelled to the flower in her hair, she was just like that flower, innocent and pure. He had purposely asked the staff to daily place a white lily in the vase on her table. The flower was the embodint of her.
She was a perfect picture of innocence and courage. The white and red lded perfectly together and Zyair couldn’t help but wonder how she would look in a tight red gown with a slit.
Sinful images in his brain even baffled him and he had to remind himself that she was married. But his body refused to acknowledge the fact and so very specific part began to itch.
Seeing him intently stare at her for so long, Skyla beca self-conscious again. She shifted her weight from one foot to another. Seeing how uncomfortable he was making her, he stumbled out of his stupor.
"Miss Skyla, hold all my calls till the eting," his voice ca out gravelly and needy and she only nodded when he took long strides and exited the room. Leaving her a bit perplexed, not understanding how she affected him at tis.
She had never seen her boss carrying a phone and most of his calls went through Lawrence and now so of them were directed through her.
Quietly she left the lounge made her way to her office and resud her work. She held back all his calls, noting them down on her tablet so she could inform him later. Finding so free ti she worked on her comic as well.
Before the eting, Lawrence ca to fetch her with two chocolate bars.
"Here," he handed one over as they began to head down towards the Conference Room while he took a large bite out of his.
"Thank you!" Skyla accepted the enormous bar and asked, "How did you know I like chocolates?"
"All girls do," he shrugged his shoulders in a matter-factly way making her chuckle. She placed it in her bag, deciding to eat at night when she would work on her comic.
They reached the Conference Room and like a gentleman, Lawrence opened the door for her so she could enter first and guided her to the designated seat. Skyla thanked him and settled down, taking in the ambience of the well-furnished room with an oblong white marble table and a projector along with other essentials.
Soon the room began to fill. The eting was with the Marketing and Sales Departnt and Amber entered in all her glory. Her high heels clicked against the floor and her scarlet-painted lips were perpetually pouting. The tight pencil skirt highlighted her shapely hips as she tipped back the opticals she was wearing for rely show.
Her eyes fell on Skyla seated strategically behind the CEO’s designated seat and her eyebrows scrunched up in aversion and that pout turned to scowl seeing the flower in her hair.
