Once Skyla left for the day Zyair watched down below from his window. He had expected her to have a car of her own but he saw her hailing a cab.

"Her good-for-nothing husband can’t even provide her with a decent car. She has to wait for a taxi and travel alone at night. I should have asked her how she would be going ho," he angrily mumbled to himself, clenching and unclenching his fists. He then called Lawrence.

The boy entered his office like a whirlwind, overly excited as always. He saw Zyair standing by the window, his hands elegantly tucked away in his pockets, his eyes focused on sothing down below.

Lawrence hopped over to him and skidded to a halt.

"You called?" Now that Skyla had gone ho and the eting had ended. All his formalities had evaporated as well.

"Yes!" He slightly turned his head towards Lawrence and said in all seriousness, "Miss Skyla hailed a taxi ho today. From tomorrow onwards a car and driver will do the pick and drop. Make the arrangent and inform her."

Lawrence wondered why there was this much curiosity and care for the lady he had just hired. His boss had never taken an interest in a girl like this, he avoided them at all costs. And here he was sending out a driver for her so she wouldn’t have to travel by taxi.

"It will be done. Which car should I use?" Lawrence asked just to test him.

"New one that I bought," he swiftly said before grabbing his coat from the back of his chair and dropping it on his left arm. Lawrence cocked a brow at him, his full lips tugging a smirk. Zyair ignored him and asserted.

"Drop at ena Mansion. I want to et Mom before heading off to my apartnt. I need to pick up Bitu as well." Lawrence’s cocky deanour changed to an irritated one.

"That twat better behave in front of or he and I are going to exchange words," Lawrence grumbled with annoyance creeping up in his voice. Zyair shook his head at him in amusent.

"Just compare your size to his and then pick your fights."

"Size doesn’t matter, have you seen the tongue that creature possesses? It’s longer than mine, I swear to God," Lawrence lanted, clearly shocked that Zyair would take his side.

"If you won’t instigate or tease him with biscuits, he wouldn’t have to use that tongue of his," Zyair began to walk towards his door with Lawrence right behind him.

"Yeah, yeah and who taught him to call Mickey Mouse? Do I look like a mouse from any angle?" Lawrence pointed to himself in exasperation. Zyair turned his head and gave him a hard look before speaking.

"Big ears, happy face, round nose. Actually, you do," the amusent in Zyair’s voice irritated Lawrence even more. He protested as they entered the elevator and pressed the downward button.

"You are to be completely blad for his behaviour. Isn’t it you who is always watching those stupid cartoons?"

Zyair arched his brow at the younger boy.

"Firstly, they are not stupid. Secondly, I am free of any accountability. He made the connection on his own." He simply shrugged his shoulders as the elevator dinged. Announcing their arrival in the underground parking lot.

They exited the elevator but Lawrence was not going to let this go.

"Oh! Please, I know how innocent you are," he fud at Zyair; who pursed his lips to suppress a laugh.

Both of them were finally settled in Zyair’s car as they sped off, Lawrence kept complaining until they reached ena Mansion.

ena was waiting for her son with a table filled with his favourite dishes. He and Lawrence entered the mansion and greeted her.

"Good evening! Mom. How was your day?" he asked with an affectionate smile.

"My son! It has been well. Busy and productive."

"I am glad to hear that, mom."

"Good evening! Mrs. Kincaid. I sll sothing delicious," Lawrence greeted her while rubbing his hands together. The aroma of the freshly cooked food was too tempting.

ena wholeheartedly smiled at the younger boy’s enthusiasm. Ever since Zyair had taken him under his wing he had quickly beco a permanent part of their lives.

"Good evening! Lawrence, I cooked sothing extra for you so dig in after washing your hands."

"Thank you! Thank you!"

Lawrence’s whole face brightened up as he sprinted towards the washroom, making the elders laugh with his excitent.

It has been two months since the passing of Montague Kincaid and both ena and Zyair tried to find happiness in small things.

"Will you be staying, son?" ena focused her attention on Zyair. There was a certain expectancy in her voice. He has been here for two months now, not going back to his apartnt because he didn’t want his mother to be lonely.

Every day he ca ho from the office, ena asked the sa question. And he didn’t have the heart to say no.

"Of course, I will. Let’s catch up on dinner," he lovingly added and led his mother towards the dining table.

The dinner was a lighthearted event. Lawrence cracked jokes making the elders smile every now and then. They were in the middle of it when a huge green parrot flew into the dining hall, perched itself on Zyair’s shoulder and began to nibble his ear in affection.

Zyair lopsidedly smiled and offered him a piece of fruit while asking.

"You missed , Bitu?"

The bird whistled and accepted the fruit until his beady eyes fell on Lawrence. The boy was watching him with narrowed eyes. His shrill voice ca.

"Mickyyyyyy is here, Micky, Micky Mouse."

"Evil bird, shu shu," Lawrence glared at him in annoyance and their neverending battle ensued. Both shrieked at each other.

This made ena and Zyair laugh out loud at the dinner table.

The house was filled with love and warmth once again and it swelled ena’s heart. There was only one aspect missing and that was a girl to accompany her son and fix his broken heart.
