Caleb clicked his cell phone shut and slid it across the table. His wife erged from the room after putting their children to sleep and ca to sit beside him.
Seeing him look so sullen she gently asked, "What’s wrong?"
"Doran’s face is all over the news. The police have offered a hefty reward in exchange for any information related to him. I don’t know where he is hiding Skyla. How could I never realise he could fall to this level." Caleb frustratedly raked his fingers through his hair, leaning against the sofa’s back.
"He was always slightly aloof. Hardly brought Skyla along but after his jail ti, he has truly beco unhinged. I can only imagine what Skyla’s family must be going through," she added.
"Yes, I t Zyair the other day. He seed like a ghost, his eyes had sunken so in and there were deep bags under. I wish I could sohow help him. He is a good man," Caleb frustratedly confided in his wife.
"Skyla is pregnant too. I don’t want to even imagine what Doran must be doing to her." She shook her, having gone through multiple pregnancies, she understood how hard it was.
"I have asked all the guards and employees to keep an eye out for him or Karen. If they ever spotted them anywhere let the police or know. I am sure that Karen Is helping him stay hidden. Police should really check her house," Caleb interjected while straightening up.
"You are right, but I don’t think they can do that without a warrant," Laisa sighed and placed her head on her husband’s shoulder before murmuring, "Let’s pray they find Skyla soon."

The next day a call ca through from one of the guards to Caleb. He decided to go see him. The guard usually did day shifts but yesterday he did the night shift and made a round of the underground parking lot which was not much in use due to its dilapidated condition.
A new parking lot had been built so the old one was abandoned.
"Sir! I saw Miss Karen sneaking inside the underground parking lot. I went to check but found no one. It was like she had disappeared sowhere." The guard confided in Caleb.
"Are you sure it was her and not soone who looks like her?" Caleb asked, scratching his temple.
"Sir! I have been with this company for seven years now. I know every employee of the company like the back of my hand and Miss Karen was well known although she is not working here anymore. It was her."
His words threw Caleb into a deep thought.
"Okay, good work on letting know." Caleb decided to investigate the matter on his own. If she was visiting this parking lot, it ant either she was spying for Doran or there was so other motive.
Caleb stayed late at his office. His mind kept reeling back to why Karen could be there. Getting up he made his way to the abandoned parking lot and hid behind a large pillar which was frad by darkness. He remained hidden there letting his eyes adjust while he waited. He wasn’t sure for what but he had a hunch that if she had visited this place yesterday she could do it again today.
An hour had gone by when a car entered the place, astonishing Caleb. How was a car permitted to enter? Unless the guard who did night duty let soone in? Caleb was now glad he had sneaked past, not informing anyone.
But who could be visiting here and at this hour?
Soone wearing black clothes and a mask got out of the car. His sharp eyes carefully inspected the surroundings. Caleb crouched against the wall, making himself small.
It was dark and he couldn’t see properly but from the height, he looked like soone with the sa height as Doran. And then he took off his mask and shoved it in his pocket.
Caleb was left speechless, his mouth hung open and his eyes doubled in size. They had been looking for him all over the city and he was hiding sowhere right under their noses.
Doran grabbed so food bags and began to move in the opposite direction. Curiosity finally gave Caleb enough strength to move and follow his ex-friend.
Prowling like a cat without making much noise, Caleb followed him with a pounding heart while lying low.
Moving to the left he entered a corridor where abandoned furniture and other dust-filled old stuff lay. Doran entered through a dusty door into what seed like a large old closet.
Caleb stayed on his trail, placing his foot in ti to just catch the door before it closed, Caleb slowly opened it a few inches and followed inside. Doran was just a way ahead facing what seed like a wall with a cara on top.
Caleb hid behind so broken furniture and watched in horror at what was about to unfold.
Taking out a key Doran entered it in a keyhole which was invisible from a distance.
Sothing whirled while the wall seed to shift aside revealing a very thick silver door behind it.
He inserted another key and threw it open, red light filtered out as he entered. Caleb only got a glimpse of a few monitors inside before the door closed and the thick wall slid back in place, hiding the door as if it didn’t exist.
Dumbstruck and out of breath Caleb blinked several tis to make sure he saw what he saw. He knew in his gut that this was where he was hiding Skyla.
All that while he had been here?
Every ti he would disappear this was the place he must have hidden himself. As the place was abandoned on the pretext that they needed a bigger parking lot by Doran. He went on to have a new one constructed. It all made sense to Caleb.
He wondered what else he must be hiding inside that room.
Quietly getting up he walked out of the place. Covered in his sweat while his heart pounded so loudly in his chest that he couldn’t hear any other sound.
Exiting the place he took out his phone and contemplated calling the police. The rational part of him said it was the right course of action but his heart wanted to call soone else.
He finally made up his mind and dialled the number.
