(Day of the Halloween Event)
The Kincaid Studio where they were organising the event was bustling with activity. A year ago, Skyla could only dream of visiting this polygonal building and today she was hosting this event in the very sa place.
The feelings of accomplishnt and pride enveloped her completely and she was nothing but exuding confidence. Mawar, Huria, Lawrence and Erdith were all there lending her a hand. Erdith had specially arrived to attend it.
Backstage dressing areas were a hub of activity as all the models dressed up and the final touches of make-up were given to them by professional make-up artists.
The rchandising had been arranged in the corridors and halls so visitors coming up could have a look and purchase from the set-up stalls.
Food and drinks were in a separate corner and so was wine.
The dia, celebrities, journalists and paparazzi, everyone from the entertainnt industry of Angel City had flocked to Kincaid Studio. The only person missing was Zyair Kincaid.
It was quite overwhelming but Skyla was determined to make this a successful event.
Donning a costu of Nobara from JJK, Skyla had her work tablet in her hand and she was running around like a bouncy ball. Checking up every tiny detail.
Likes of Amber were making her life difficult, not listening to her orders when Zyair had previously made it clear that Skyla was the boss of this event and everyone was supposed to listen to her.
"Amber, have you checked the dia coverage?" Skyla asked her nicely for the third ti. dia managent was her departnt.
But Amber kept on ignoring Skyla’s words.
Skyla was done playing nice though. People had been taking advantage of her ek nature. The fact that she wanted to politely deal with people made them think they could walk all over her.
"Amber, if you can’t do your job maybe you shouldn’t be here. Do as I ask before I fire you and hire soone who can actually do their job."
Skyla begrudgingly inford her with an irritated expression on her face.
Amber for once was taken aback. Skyla was always this sweet cinnamon roll which everyone just wanted to chew but today she was nothing less feisty than the character she was cosplaying.
"You can’t do that," Amber scoffed with a challenge.
"Watch . I need a full dia report in half an hour. Failing to do that and you will be vacating this post. Rember this is my event and I am the boss today."
The authority in her voice ran deep like a well and for once Amber was slightly afraid. She muttered under her breath but scuttled away to do as she had been asked.
Mawar and Erdith were in charge of the rchandising. Huria was guiding people towards the respective stalls and was making productive conversations.
"Everything going smoothly?" Skyla asked the girls and they gave her thumbs up, too buried in dealing with people. She smiled in satisfaction. This was big, this was huge for her.
A lot of voice actors and manga creators had been invited too and people loved interacting with them.
"Smooth sailing so far. I am observing we are having pretty decent sales. Jujutsu Kaisen costus are flying off the shelves." Lawrence walked over to Skyla with an orange juice glass. She was craning her neck left and right with her one hand behind it.
"It’s the next Naruto. Everyone loves it." Skyla accepted the glass with a look of gratitude. She needed it. Her neck and legs were stiff. After the event, she was going to take a three-day break, crash at Huria’s house and just sleep.
"Indeed but everyone is excited about the ramp walks. It’s going to be the star of the show." Lawrence added with a cheer.
"Speaking of that. Where is our show-stopper? He is never late, shouldn’t he be here by now?" Skyla asked in concern, taking a sip of the juice which was refreshing her senses.
"He is not picking up my calls. But he will be here. He hates dia attention and crowds. Will creep in from the back door just on ti."
Skyla slowly giggled, knowing her boss.
"Did he tell you about his costu? I asked him twice and he said we would only see him on the ramp. He revealed nothing."
Lawrence could only shrug his shoulders, Zyair was being as mysterious as ever.
"We need to start the ramp walk. Make the announcent," Skyla asked Lawrence and he moved away after nodding.
Five minutes later the announcent to move to the main hall to observe the modelling event was made. The excitent and laughter penetrated the air and throngs of people proceeded towards it.
The helpers guided them to their respective seats. Skyla was already inside, personally receiving all the important guests on behalf of Zyair and Kincaid International. She had eased into this role.
Unlike Zyair she liked socialising and eting people from all walks of life. Now that she had co out of Doran’s shadow a lot of people admired her for the way she carried herself and spoke politely.
Zyair and Skyla were polar opposites in this regard and that’s why they matched so perfectly.
The hall kept filling up and Skyla moved backstage. Ensuring that models were ready, and their costus and make-up were in place. They were to showcase all the latest costus Kincaid International had designed in the last eight months.
It was ti.
The lights dimd and the ramp lit up. Fast-tempo music blasted in the hall as the announcent ca for the audience to brace themselves. The first model appeared on the ramp under thunderous applause and cheering from the crowd.
She gracefully walked, making her signature move as she reached the centre of the stage, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Clapping and praises followed, caras clicked and flashed, and live streaming on all social dia apps continued pulling in big numbers.
The show continued but Skyla’s worries were increasing. There was no sign of Zyair. She tried reaching him but his phone was switched off.
He was her show stopper and people were expecting to see him in his killer costu. The event would end on a very high note with his legs gracing the ramp.
He was never this irresponsible but then again he was very unpredictable when it ca down to big events. Skyla was a tad disappointed that he didn’t even co to take a glimpse of the final show.
He had been encouraging her non-stop and had visited the rehearsals but why was he absent on the main event? Skyla had no clue, all she could do was wait and pray.
The final models were now making their way on the ramp and they were fast approaching the end of their show. Skyla checked and asked the staff if they had seen Mr Zyair but everyone just answered in negative and shook their heads.
By now Skyla was a nervous wreck and tears were almost threatening to let loose but she kept a stoic face. Was he so angry at her?
At the second last model, Skyla had completely panicked. She decided to tell the announcer to not announce about Zyair’s walk since he wasn’t here but the last announcent had gonged in the hall by then.
"For our final mont. The CEO of Kincaid International and the heartthrob of Angel City, Zyair Kincaid will grace us with his charming presence. Let’s hear it for our mysterious man."
The hall erupted in uproar and Skyla held her stifling breath. Her lungs burnt from the lack of oxygen and the backsides of her eyes scorched from holding her tears in.
And then she saw him appear on the stage from the other side, where all the models had been exiting. Skyla was zinged as if by lightning riveting her to the spot.
