"You have absolutely no idea how cute you are, do you now?" He patted her head again, his eyes bunched up in amusent as he resud his seat.

"So other ti but you are making lunch as a penalty." His words brought her relief and she sighed before taking her hands away from her very pinkish face. She took a peek at him.

"Gladly," she chirped, anything to avoid having her cheeks pulled.

"It’s my turn now. When you saw after so many years, did you recognise ?" She shyly asked.

"I did, you left a long-lasting impact. I would recognise these flaming hair and gentle eyes anywhere. You have no clue how difficult it has been for to refrain myself from telling you."

He didn’t elaborate on the part where he had ticulously planned their eting for eight years. Where he toiled hard every day to beco a powerful man so he could liberate her.

She smiled, a perfect smile like a morning flower blooming after rain. It felt good to be recognised.

"Skyla, did you ever truly believe that you would et soday?" Zyair longingly asked, staring straight into the amber fire which softly crackled and kept them warm in this rainy October.

He knew the answer, he wanted to hear from her. She stayed quiet for a second, lost in her own world before answering.

"Yes, there was a tiny spark of hope in my heart that never went out. But how everything has unfolded, I could never have imagined this in my wildest dreams."

If only she could tell him that those mories had kept her sane on many cold nights. On occasions when she believed she would end up losing her mind when gloom would consu her and sadness would gnaw at her bones.

It was his thoughts which kept her going.

"That makes my heart happy, Skyla. It was in our destiny to cross paths again to be each other’s support."

He spoke softly and she nodded.

"Umm, so you are not allergic to won considering you touch but why the rule?" She asked, mustering up courage.

"I think I have touched enough of them to last a lifeti. I don’t want any other but one."

His cryptic answer left her with more questions.

The morning lded into noon and none of them got tired of talking to the other. There was so much catching up to do.

The grumbling of Skyla’s stomach had them getting up from the sofa and heading to the kitchen. Although it was Skyla’s penalty, Zyair helped her in fixing up lunch which both of them relished in peace.

Zyair kept asking her questions, trying to store away all of the knowledge related to her. After lunch, they took a break from their question-and-answer session and decided to watch an ani together.

Both of them snugly sat and were soon lost in the world of animation. It had always been her dream to watch ani with a man of her choice. Soone who shared her interest. Zyair was rapidly filling that space in her heart and she was internally afraid to ask him the real questions.

Every ti she laughed at so funny mont Zyair’s eyes automatically flitted towards her. His hands itched to take hers in his or to have her perch on his lap and bury his nose deep into her neck, inhaling that fruity scent she carried.

But he respected her too much. Once she would divorce that good-for-nothing husband of hers, he would let her co to him of her own free will.

"That was fun, we should do this more often," Zyair told her and she agreed as he switched off the TV.

He proceeded to the window to check the weather conditions. The rain had stopped and water was clearing out. So he called one of his guards and told him to have his car towed.

Skyla went up to her assigned room and caught up with her pending work. A day off was going to cost them. She also called her mother-in-law and Huria.

"Where have you been? I called and texted you like a million tis," Huria growled at her, dying to hear what happened.

"Mr Zyair and I were discussing so important issues so I didn’t get a chance to check my phone." Skyla didn’t like keeping secrets from Huria but this was not her secret to tell. But deep inside she was dying to tell her friend who her boss was. Huria was after all the one who introduced them.

"What issues? Did you finally get to see his face? Tell he is handso and dreamy and gorgeous," Huria’s shrill voice was too loud, even on the phone.

"No, idiot. I didn’t. Stop asking stupid questions." Skyla chided but Huria paid her no heed.

"Did you guys at least hold hands? I know he has the hots for you and you for him. Stop denying each other and open up or why else did he take you to his house? This is big you realise that."

"Don’t be stupid Huria. His house was close that’s why we went there. Nothing like that is happening. He is my boss." Skyla lied through her teeth again, this was embarrassing.

If it was in Huria’s hands she would have made them a couple, even though Skyla was married and Doran had no intention of letting her go.

"Pffft! Stay a few more days and I can bet he will at least kiss you. And sothing tells it will be a soul-shattering kiss. Ummm, ummm," Huria was making these silly sounds embarrassing Skyla further.

"You have completely lost your mind. I will talk to you later." Skyla shook her head and ended the call before her raucousness would get her in trouble.

All that talk about the kiss and Zyair’s words when he had her pressed against the window began to burn her with lust-filled desires which would only lead to troubled roads, roads she couldn’t afford to travel.

She wasn’t even sure what Zyair’s intentions were, romantically speaking. And even if he was interested in her she couldn’t entertain that idea.

Knowing Doran she knew he would hunt her down to the last corner of the Earth, there was this obsession in his eyes when it ca down to her.

And he had already inford her hundreds of tis if she ever tried to run away, divorce him or be involved with another man. He would break her legs and kill that man. He knew about Preston and Skyla was afraid deep down.

That unhealthy obsession will never let her be totally free. She would always be looking over her shoulder. Involving Zyair in her ss would only lead to endangering his life too. She would prefer dying than letting any harm co to him.

He was special to her and just like he had protected her she would do the sa for him. That’s why getting involved with Zyair Kincaid was a dangerous ga and she didn’t want him to have a death wish. For not all of them will escape this unscathed, there will be more scars.
