Chapter 89: 089: Tossed and turned all night~

“Jiang Zhi, I’m thirsty again.”

She licked her lips, squatting and curled into a ball.

Jiang Zhi chuckled and squatted down to talk to her, “Do you want water or milk?”

“Milk.”

Jiang Zhi stood up.

She followed suit, trailing him to the kitchen wherever he went.

...

He had just taken out two cans of milk when she said, “I want it cold.”

“No,” Jiang Zhi didn’t give in to her, opened a can, poured it into a cup, and handed it to her, “It’s too cold outside to drink it cold.”

Zhou Xufang, unhappy, pinched the cup without opening her mouth, scratched the rim twice, and then—

“Clang!”

She crushed the cup, splashing milk all over the floor.

“…”

Was the girl a strongwoman?

“Why did you use so much strength!”

He had just finished speaking when her head drooped, she glanced at him, and muttered, “Jiang Zhi scolded .”

“Jiang Zhi scolded .”

“Jiang Zhi scolded .”

She repeated it three tis in a row!

Then, she showed an injured expression, as though the sky had fallen.

Jiang Zhi: “…”

Are all the girls who’ve been drinking so charming?

Not daring to speak to her loudly anymore, Jiang Zhi touched her head, his technique… well, was much like petting a cat. He spoke softly and gently this ti, “I’m not scolding you, I’m worried you’ll get hurt.”

Zhou Xufang paused for three seconds: “Oh.”

She was easy to console and imdiately snapped out of her sadness, standing unsteadily, swaying.

“Let see your hand.”

She held out both hands.

Fortunately, she was not cut by glass, just a hand covered with milk. Jiang Zhi took so paper towels to clean her up, then led her out of the kitchen, placed a chair for her to sit on.

He went back to the kitchen for more milk.

Zhou Xufang followed him.

“Sit here and wait.”

“Oh.” She sat back down, shaking her head and swaying.

Jiang Zhi ward up two cans of milk in the kitchen, this ti not letting her hold the cup herself. He fed her, and she sipped daintily.

Jiang Zhi couldn’t take his eyes off her: “Is it good?”

She licked her lips, her eyes forming two narrow curves, nodded her head, and said it was delicious.

She didn’t look at all like her usual stiff and serious self; her eyes were misty, like a lonely star shrouded in moisture, the desolation and solitude gone, only leaving an irresistible gentleness.

She was just a sheep in wolf’s clothing, with sharp claws, behind the mask, actually not aggressive at all.

She licked her lips again.

Her tongue tip was red…

Jiang Zhi’s gaze grew warr: “Let taste it?”

She agreed, pushing the cup in his hand toward his lips.

He took her hand away, set down the cup, leaned over, his hand bracing against the back of the chair, the other lifting her chin, and bent down to kiss her.

Her eyes widened in surprise, her already flushed face turned thoroughly red.

Jiang Zhi wasn’t much better off, with his ears tinged red; the sickly pallor on his face now looked more beautiful with a flush of emotion, his hand on her waist slightly sweaty. He sucked gently, nipping at her.

The light fell on the left side, casting shadows in Jiang Zhi’s open collar, on his neck where the skin showed carelessly, marked by three or four hickeys.

Zhou Xufang had “bitten” those in the private room.

Jiang Zhi thought he could bite back, opened his mouth, but just as his tongue touched her lips, she pushed him away, mischievously.

“Hot…”

She said it was hot.

Only then did Jiang Zhi realize how hot her skin felt to the touch, and all his romantic imaginations vanished. He stepped back a few paces and reached out to touch her face.

“Why is it so hot?”

She kept saying it was very hot, not just her face, all the exposed skin was red.

“Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

“I’m not uncomfortable.”

Jiang Zhi was a bit flustered and touched her forehead with his face, but still felt it was abnormally hot. He then carried her to the master bedroom, removed her shoes and jacket, and wrapped her with the blanket. She complained of the heat and tried to kick it off; as soon as her foot lifted, Jiang Zhi pressed it down, “Be good, lie still, don’t kick the blanket.”

She didn’t kick anymore and laid there like a log, perfectly still except for her eyelids, not moving an inch.

Jiang Zhi rummaged through drawers and cabinets for quite a while before he found the dicine box. When he returned to the master bedroom with the thermoter, her eyelids had already closed, and she was sleeping in a daze.

“Xu Fang.”

She humd in response.

Jiang Zhi sat by the bed, warming his hand before reaching under the blanket, “Lift your arm for .”

She obediently lifted her arm.

Jiang Zhi placed the thermoter under her armpit, waited a few minutes before taking it out. Just these few actions had him fumbling nervously, sweating profusely.

42 degrees, it was a high fever.

He threw the thermoter aside and bent over to pick her up.

Zhou Xufang turned over, refusing to be carried, “Leave alone, I want to sleep.”

“You can sleep later, we need to go to the hospital first.”

Hospital?

“I don’t want to go!”

She turned to her side and pushed with her hand.

Jiang Zhi, completely unprepared, was pushed off the bed, landing with a solid thud.

At twelve o’clock, Xue Bingxue was awakened by the ringing of his cellphone.

Irritated by the disruption of his sleep in the middle of the night, even with his good temper, he was annoyed. It took him so ti before reaching out of the covers to find his phone on the bedside table, without even opening his eyes.

“Hello?”

“Fever.”

Concise and to the point, just two words, it was Jiang Zhi’s voice.

Xue Bingxue scratched his head and slowly climbed out from under the covers, glanced at the ti on his phone, voice sleepy, “Didn’t you stop taking your dicine?”

Jiang Zhi’s voice was urgent, “It’s not .”

Oh, Xue Bingxue understood now, “Is it Zhou Xufang who has a fever?”

“What should I do?”

Just from the tone, it was clear how frantic Jiang Zhi was.

This guy had been in and out of the ICU countless tis over the past dozen years without ever panicking, yet Zhou Xufang’s fever had him completely disoriented.

Xue Bingxue rubbed his eyes, very sleepy, “What do you an what to do, take her to the hospital.”

“She doesn’t want to go to the hospital.”

“Do you have any fever reducers at ho?”

“Yes.”

“Start by giving her the dicine.” Xue Bingxue yawned and wiped away the drowsiness, instructing Jiang Zhi on how to cool her down physically over the phone.

On the other end, Jiang Zhi hung up the phone and went to give Zhou Xufang the dicine. She was sleeping heavily and refused to open her mouth, so he had to crush the pill and mix it with water to feed her.

As soon as she tasted it, Zhou Xufang wrinkled her small face, “Bitter.”

She must really detest the bitterness, her eyebrows deeply furrowed. The sleepiness faded half way, but after Jiang Zhi softly coaxed her twice, she opened her mouth and drank the dicine.

After feeding her the dicine, Jiang Zhi gave her a pink cotton candy, “Still bitter?”

“Still bitter.”

He fed her another candy, then got up to fetch so alcohol and water.

He needed to use diluted alcohol for a body rub…

This was what Xue Bingxue had said.

Jiang Zhi took off his sweater, feeling a bit hot. By the ti he prepared the alcohol and returned to the room, Zhou Xufang had already crawled under the covers, sleeping soundly. She slept neatly, like a perfectly straight ‘log of wood’.

Jiang Zhi placed the towel and basin on the bedside table, “Xu Fang.”

She didn’t wake up.

Good, at that mont, his desire was flaring, and he couldn’t bear to see those eyes of hers that could captivate his soul.

He pulled the blanket down a bit, watched her for a while before leaning down next to her ear, whispering, “Soday in the future, I’ll put you in a wedding dress.”

Undressing a girl ant he had to cloak her in a wedding gown.

He kissed her forehead, his hand slipping under the blanket, reaching for her waist…

So cold.

It stayed for just a short ti before he pulled his hand back out, placing it on her forehead.

“…”

There wasn’t a hint of fever to her, she was like a piece of ice.

The next day dawned with a faint clear sky.
