Chapter 84: 084: Her Past Identity and Nostalgic Hits

“Then shut your mouth for .”

“Alright.” Ah Wan felt a bit wronged, but he didn’t dare to resist. If he did, he’d only be suppressed even more by his employer. In order to survive, he had no choice but to swallow his pride. Ah, the sorrow of the common folk.

At this ti, it was the rush hour for getting off work. Passersby couldn’t help but give the flashy car a second glance, and then looked at Ah Wan, who stood at one ter ninety and weighed two hundred pounds. Their aningful, secretive smiles made Ah Wan feel like he was on the verge of a breakdown. Fortunately, the wait was only a short while.

Ah Wan was like he had seen his own mother: “Miss Zhou has co down!”

I saw it.

Jiang Zhi got out of the car and walked up to et her.

...

Zhou Xufang wasn’t wearing a mask today. She donned a black lamb’s wool coat over a pink sweatshirt, her hair pulled back and tied with a black hairband into a bun—apparently done with a bit of inexperience, slightly ssy. The band had a tiny, tiny pink diamond that was only noticeable upon closer inspection.

Ah, she truly liked pink.

Jiang Zhi unbuttoned one button of his coat, not minding the cold, and left it open. He pointed to the matching sweatshirt inside his coat, “What a coincidence, we’ve matched our outfits.”

Ah Wan: “…” How shaless! Never have I seen such brazen shalessness!

The sches of the romantic world are seen as a kind of charm.

However, Zhou Xufang wasn’t quite so good at playing along, she simply blurted out, “You look really good,” then ducked her head and climbed into the car. She only sat on a small portion of the seat, leaving plenty of space for Jiang Zhi.

The flattered Jiang Zhi irritably tugged on the drawstring of his sweatshirt and sat down next to Zhou Xufang, then thodically took off his coat. Only after he glanced at the pink on Zhou Xufang did his mood begin to lighten.

As soon as she got in the car, she didn’t give him a glance. She looked at the stickers on the car window, then at the plushies on the seat cushion. Finally, her gaze firmly landed on the pink crystal pendant on the seat.

Her eyes curved up in delight, “Everything inside the car is pink.”

Waiting for the praise, Jiang Zhi lifted his chin thirty degrees, “Hmm.”

She earnestly complinted, “It’s very beautiful.”

In Jiang Zhi’s eyes, a brilliant and pink peach blossom blood, “Hmm.”

She then put up her thumb and continued to sincerely flatter, “Especially, especially beautiful. You have great taste!”

Such a sweet deanor.

Jiang Zhi grinned, showing a small canine tooth, “I’ll give it to you.” As long as she wanted it, he could buy a dozen cars like this for her.

It was also what Xue Baoyi said—like her, give her cars, give her houses.

But Zhou Xufang flatly declined without hesitation, “No need, I can buy my own.”

Jiang Zhi, who very much wanted to give cars and houses, was silent…

She wasn’t following the script.

She played with the pink pendant on the seat for a while, then her gaze shifted to the glass candy box behind her. She asked politely, “May I have so of this cotton candy?”

So, what she loved most was still sweets.

Jiang Zhi placed the glass box into her hands, and the doting in his eyes turned into ripples of spring water, “You like sweets that much?”

She nodded.

He smiled and gave her another box too.

His girl sure didn’t follow the ordinary path. She didn’t want a car; a box of sweets was enough to satisfy her. Watching her demurely eating the candy, he suddenly thought, in the future, if he stopped directing, he could switch to candy making, build her a house of sugar, and let her nibble wherever she went.

Outside the car window, the setting sun had fallen, and neon lights lit up together with the hos of thousands, glowing in the fading evening.

Unluckily, just as they arrived, there was a young man in the porridge shop proposing. In tears, with snot and all, he clutched a bunch of huge roses, the ground also scattered with petals.

Zhou Xufang couldn’t help but observe a few more tis.

“Do you like it?”

She turned her head, “What?”

Jiang Zhi was walking behind her, overshadowing her silhouette, “Roses.”

That adviser of Xue Baoyi even said, won all like flowers.

If she liked them, he could give them too.

But Zhou Xufang said, “I don’t like them.” Her brow furrowed slightly, and she pursed her lips, “I don’t like roses.”

Jiang Zhi leaned in closer, bending over to talk to her, his voice as gently unaware, “Why?” That damn adviser’s words were all bullshit.

Her gaze blanked out for a mont, and a hint of coolness seeped through her dark pupils. She lowered her head, her voice softened, “The thorns of roses are very painful.”

Jiang Zhi suddenly stopped in his tracks.

Ah Wan imdiately sensed sothing off from behind, “Boss, are you okay?”

Zhou Xufang beca anxious upon hearing that, “What’s wrong?”

Jiang Zhi stared at her silently, his eyes a thousand clusters of light turning into fireworks, the nurous roses casting red shadows on the ground.

Ah Wan explained on the side, “The boss is allergic to roses.”

Without hesitation, Zhou Xufang grabbed Jiang Zhi’s hand, “Let’s go sowhere else.”

Her hand was really cold.

Jiang Zhi naturally took hold of her and brought her to his side, “No need to change, I am not allergic. Like you, I just hate roses.”

The flower he hated most was the rose, almost to an intolerable extent. Word got around, and it beca known that he was allergic; he was too lazy to correct it – he simply did not want to see those thorny things.

That year, he was not yet sixteen and was a spirited young man.

The Luo Family’s Second Madam loved flowers, and as it happened, the first ti he visited the Luo Family was during the rose blooming season. From a distance, he could hear the curses of a young girl in the greenhouse.

“Does it hurt?”

“Why aren’t you shouting? Why don’t you shout?”

The ground was covered with roses, and all that could be seen was a trembling figure in the bushes and the girl’s provocative and arrogant smile.

“Oh, I forgot, you’re a mute.”

The girl leaned over with her arms crossed and looked down at the person on the ground with undisguised hatred in her eyes, “What’s the point of you being alive? You can’t speak, you don’t feel pain, and you don’t even know when to eat when you’re hungry.” She threw the wilted rose in her hand and broke off two more branches to twirl between her fingers, “If I were you, I’d have killed myself.”

She laughed for a while.

“People like you, a retardation, are a waste of food from my Luo Family.”

“Ah, there’s blood.”

“Does it still not hurt?”

“Indeed, you’re a little monster, born to be punished.”

The teenage girl, lively and captivating, held two thorny roses and repeatedly whipped the thin and sallow young man lying on the ground. He did not cry out or shout, only convulsing continuously as rose petals scattered all over him, as red as blood.

Couldn´t speak?

“Who is he?”

The Jiang Family’s accompanying steward replied, “Young Master, that is the Luo Family’s eldest lady.”

Jiang Zhi looked towards the greenhouse, “I wasn’t asking about her.” He pointed to the ground, “Who is that child?”

That child was actually not young anymore, rely always undernourished and small compared to others his age.

The steward glanced briefly and replied, “He is a foster child of the Luo Family. Mr. Luo never gave him a na, everyone just calls him Luo San.” The steward diverted his gaze, “Young Master, I’ll take you to the living room.”

After all, it was another family’s dostic affair, and it wasn’t appropriate for him to intercede.

Nevertheless, Jiang Zhi ignored the steward and headed towards the greenhouse, his steps slightly hurried, feeling unwell and coughing severely.

He called out, “Hey.”

The girl turned her head and seeing his sickly but graceful appearance, she knew who he was and smiled sweetly, “You must be Jiang Zhi.”

The Luo Family’s eldest lady, Luo Qinghe.

That was the first ti Jiang Zhi saw her, his gaze lingered only for a mont before shifting to the ground, “Co here.” He pointed to the thin and gangly child, “Co and show the way.”

The girl dropped the rose and wiped her hands with a delicate handkerchief, “I’ll show you the way.”

“I want him to lead.” Jiang Zhi did not even glance at the girl, only staring at the child curled up on the ground, “Can you hear ? Co here.”

Jiang Zhi only knew that he couldn’t speak; he did not know if he could hear.

He moved; he could hear. Still shivering, he slowly shuffled forward, draped in clothes too big for him, torn by the roses’ thorns, blood streaking his attire.

He hunched in front of Jiang Zhi.

“Can’t you speak?”

He nodded.

“Don’t feel pain either?”

He nodded again.

“Co to the front, show the way.”

He wiped the blood from his face caused by the thorns and limped to the front of Jiang Zhi, continuously shaking the whole way.

He really couldn’t feel pain?

Jiang Zhi wondered about this all the way.

Later, Jiang Zhi heard that the Luo Family’s foster child was an idiot; they said he had a chromosomal disorder, didn’t feel pain, didn’t feel hunger, and couldn’t speak. Thus, when others hit him, he never dodged, never cried out, and never begged for rcy.

A fourteen-year-old boy, both thin and short.

The Luo Family grew a garden full of flowers; those beasts preferred to whip him with flowers, especially thorny roses.

At that ti, Jiang Zhi was already a young man, much taller than that boy.

“Jiang Zhi.”

“Jiang Zhi.”

Zhou Xufang called out to him twice.

Jiang Zhi ca back to his senses from the mories, “Hmm?”
