Chapter 397: 397: Xu Fang’s unique pregnancy response

Zhou Xufang continued to make milk.

The phone on the cabinet rang, a reminder to drink milk, and she went to turn it off.

Jiang Zhi was feeling jealous.

Why didn’t she set a reminder to exchange sweet nothings with him when it was ti?

“In the past, I wouldn’t let you eat junk food, and you always sneakily ate it. Ever since we had a child, you’ve been very conscious about it, not eating it even once.”

Zhou Xufang thought this was sothing to be praised, but his tone didn’t sound pleasant.

Zhou Xufang responded with a “?”

Jiang Zhi said sourly, “The child is your true love, and I’m just an accident.”

“…”

Zhou Xufang felt so helpless, “Don’t be unreasonable.”

He huffed, “You don’t love , I’m going to tear up our marriage certificate.”

So cats, oh, they’re not easy to coax. If their owner doesn’t pet them, hug them, or call them their precious one, they throw a fit, and regularly, periodically, through this behavior, they repeatedly validate whether they’re still cherished by their owner.

Zhou Xufang finished the milk, licked her lips, and said, “Then go ahead.”

Jiang Zhi, suspecting he’d fallen out of favor, “…”

Does she really not love him anymore?

He didn’t have the heart to tear up the marriage certificate, on the contrary, he wouldn’t allow her to tear it either.

Zhou Xufang’s eyes curved, smiling with glee, “You can’t scare .” She deliberately teased him, proud as a triumphant little fox spirit, “You don’t even know the password to the safe.”

The safe had just been delivered the day before yesterday, and Zhou Xufang had spent the previous morning studying it.

“What’s the password?”

She didn’t say, instead going to the kitchen to wash the cup.

Jiang Zhi followed her, took the cup from her hands, turned on the faucet and rinsed it, “My birthday?”

“It’s not.”

Jiang Zhi was sure, “Then it’s your birthday.”

Zhou Xufang was clever, but her life skills were quite ordinary. Her bank card PIN, online banking password, WeChat, and Alipay passwords were all his birthday plus hers.

This ti, Zhou Xufang had learned her lesson, “Setting it to a birthday is too simple and easy for soone to guess.”

Jiang Zhi tried it himself, and it wasn’t the last six digits of his ID either. He squatted beside the safe, looking up at her, “What exactly is the password?”

She didn’t want to tell him, but Jiang Zhi’s eyes were so beautiful and earnest that Zhou Xufang gave in, “It’s your birthday plus 520.”

520 is so tacky.

Still, Jiang Zhi is sweetened by her tacky affection, his face lighting up with a smile, “Didn’t you say using a birthday makes it easy to guess?”

Zhou Xufang, “So I added 520.”

Jiang Zhi went over and kissed her, the flavor of milk on his lips, “Our Fang Bao is so smart.”

Zhou Xufang felt like soaring to the skies whenever she was praised, but she had to restrain herself, patting her belly.

The safe wasn’t very large and in just one day, Zhou Xufang had stuffed it full, with cotton candy in a glass box, her property title deeds, the purchase contract for Moon Bay, the music box he had bought for her, as well as eight little wooden boxes that ca with the marriage certificate, with the certificate hidden in one of them.

“Why do you need to put these shoes in the safe?” Jiang Zhi pulled out a pair of pink baby shoes.

Zhou Xufang had bought a lot of baby items following Fang Lixiang, all stored at Yuquan Bay. She only brought this pair, “These are the cutest.”

She liked all things pink, soft, and pretty, and tended to collect them.

Jiang Zhi took the pink baby shoes out, selected one of his pink sweatshirts, and handed it to Zhou Xufang, “Put this in.”

“Oh.”

As Zhou Xufang put the sweatshirt in, she sneakily reinserted the little shoes too.

June 17th.

Jiang Xiaolin returned from a business trip.

As soon as he arrived at the Jiang Family’s, Xu Jiuru called him to the study, “Have you negotiated it?”

“A part of it.”

Xu Jiuru was quite pleased, “The Lu Family’s shipnt date is these next few days.”

After the Baidex dical Equipnt warehouse ‘smoked’, the Lu Family couldn’t supply the raw materials their partner needed, and the partner had only granted a one-week extension.

Jiang Xiaolin’s trip to the M country involved eting several hospital heads who had previously cooperated with the Lu Family, including the one that granted the one-week extension.

June 17th.

Jiang Zhi took leave from the company, the reason: feeling unwell.

Early in the morning, Lu Xinglan’s call ca in, “Several overseas hospitals have partnered with the Jiang Family. They used to be our Lu Family’s clients.”

Rarely was this sleeping deity so energetic.

Stewing pork liver porridge in the pot, Jiang Zhi tasted it and then turned off the heat, “Such a big appetite, you’re not afraid of bursting yourself.”

Feeling unwell was of course a pretense; with him out of the company, Xu Jiuru could stir up trouble more easily.

“What’s going on with Jiang Xiaolin? Doesn’t he know you’re up to sothing?”

Jiang Zhi found the taste a bit bland, so he added a little more than half a spoon of salt, stirred it, and put his phone on speaker mode beside him: “Brainwashed by a woman, he decided to switch sides.”

Lu Xinglan: “… ” Bullshit.

Not all bullshit though. What Jiang Xiaolin did had a lot to do with Tang Xiang. Of course, it wasn’t just for the sake of a beauty; he wanted both the beauty and the empire.

“I made a deal with him: once Xu Jiuru dies resentfully, I will give him what’s his.”

To die resentfully—Jiang Zhi used a very bold expression.

He tasted the pig liver porridge again. It seed too salty now, so he added half a bowl of water and continued to cook it on the heat: “The Jiang Family’s shares are too scattered. Jiang Xiaolin wants to centralize power, so he deliberately took advantage of the situation. He made use him, and in turn, I’m making his bridal gown.”

They were both taking what they needed from each other, each harboring their own sches.

“He’s a fox spirit too, very sly.”

Lu Xinglan: “So are you.”

Jiang Zhi didn’t deny it, and asked, “Shares, do you want them?”

“From the Jiang Family?”

“Yep.” The porridge was boiling now. Jiang Zhi tasted it again—now it was just right, not too salty or bland—”I’ll give you a bottom price, ten billion.”

Twenty-eight percent of Jiang Family shares for only ten billion—indeed a fire-sale price. The Jiang Family would be furious enough to jump off a building.

Lu Xinglan, when he wasn’t sleepy, had the air of a businessman: “Deal.”

After hanging up, Jiang Zhi served a bowl of porridge and went to the bedroom to wake Zhou Xufang.

She hadn’t covered herself with the blanket; it was all on the floor. Fortunately, the air conditioning wasn’t on. Jiang Zhi picked up the blanket from the carpet.

“Xu Fang.”

He brushed the hair from her face: “Xu Fang.”

She didn’t open her eyes, just humd a vague affirmation: “Mmm…”

“You can’t sleep anymore; you need to eat sothing.”

She turned over, her back to him, and muttered, “I want to sleep a bit more.”

This period, she was especially sleepy. If he didn’t wake her, she could sleep until lunchti. He had no choice but to coax her with patience: “Co on, okay?”

Zhou Xufang didn’t move.

Jiang Zhi bent down to lift her up but noticed sothing was wrong as soon as he touched her arm: “Why are you so hot?”

Zhou Xufang sat up, still not fully awake, and sowhat confused.

Jiang Zhi touched her forehead, then her neck: “Why do you have a fever? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”

Her body temperature felt almost the sa as his, but she normally had a very low body temperature. Anything over thirty-seven degrees Celsius was a fever for her.

Zhou Xufang touched her own head, which wasn’t cool to the touch—unusual for her. She moved her arms and legs: “I don’t feel uncomfortable anywhere.”

She pressed her hand to her chest; even her heartbeat was normal.

This fever was baffling.

Jiang Zhi didn’t waste any more ti and carried her out of bed: “Go brush your teeth, I’m taking you to the hospital.”

At half-past nine, they arrived at Fifth Hospital.

Jiang Zhi had already contacted Vice President Sun in advance, so they took the staff elevator directly to the third floor, where Director He from the gynecology departnt was already waiting in her office.

After asking about the specific situation, Director He had a nurse take Zhou Xufang for so tests. While waiting for the results, Jiang Zhi took her out for breakfast. He barely ate anything due to his anxiety, while Zhou Xufang drank two bowls of porridge.

After ten o’clock, they returned to the hospital.

Director He had already gotten the ultrasound report: “The gestational sac and blood values are both normal.” She asked Zhou Xufang, “Have you experienced any abdominal pain?”

Zhou Xufang shook her head: “No.”

“Any bleeding? Have you seen any red on your pants?”

She shook her head again.

Director He asked a few more questions.

After Zhou Xufang answered them all, she said, “Besides sleeping a lot, I don’t have any symptoms.”

Other than drowsiness and a missed period, she had no sensations as if it were a false pregnancy.

Director He reassured them with a few words, telling the couple to be at ease: “We haven’t found any abnormalities, and I’ve sent the results of the other routine tests to Director Liu.”

“Thank you.”

After thanking her, Jiang Zhi took Zhou Xufang to the hematologic departnt.

Director Liu wore thick glasses and was deeply concentrating on Zhou Xufang’s lab report. When he heard their footsteps, he looked up with a puzzled expression at Zhou Xufang.

Since the other party was a slow-moving kind, Jiang Zhi, impatient, asked first: “Why did she have a high fever?”

“No fever.”

Thirty-five degrees Celsius, which was already below normal.

Jiang Zhi didn’t explain further: “Did you find any abnormalities?”

“There are indeed so values that are not quite normal, especially the four coagulation factors—are all outside the threshold,” Director Liu couldn’t comprehend, “How could this be? Is there a problem with the testing equipnt?”
