Anabella sighed, frustrated, as she got off the phone with her husband. The man had threatened her to return in not-so-nice words, but he was not even worried about her.

Usually, Anabella would not have felt offended by her husband’s words, but this ti was different. Her nerves were shot due to the continuous mistakes she had made in her work, and she was feeling frustrated.

As a result, she had all but snapped at Daniel when he called her to co back.

Despite what she did and knowing she was wrong, Anabella could not bring herself to feel guilty. She felt like she had made the right decision and she was in the right this ti.

The more she thought about it, the more convinced she was that she should have stuck to her guts and that there was no need to apologize.

"A-Anabella, do you want to talk about what happened? It felt like you were about to say sothing, but you stopped yourself in-between..."

One of the betas asked Anabella, but she noticed they all kept their distance from her. It was clear that no one wanted to agitate her any more than they already did.

Seeing this reaction, Anabella sighed and decided to clear the situation with the staff around her.

"Yeah, I am fine. I do not get along well with my husband. We were married for political reasons, but he already had a lover he considered his mate. Let’s just say things are complicated and leave it at that.

So, what were we doing now?"

Anabella asked as she changed the subject quickly.

Many people looked at her with understanding, and the atmosphere around the bakery changed quickly. Most people who looked at her gave her sympathetic glances, but they knew better than to ask her questions or remind her of what had happened.

For the first ti, Anabella felt thankful for social cues that kept these people from asking her useless questions. It was easy to forget what happened once she was buried in her work and had to finish it as soon as possible.

Anabella returned to her room with an empty head and an inability to speak. As soon as her head touched the pillow, she was asleep.

Sowhere around 09:30, her phone went off, and Anabella reached out to grab it. Her hand closed around the device, and she almost threw it out of the window before she realized that she needed to take this call.

"Hello-!"

When Anabella picked up the phone, her voice was half-asleep. She felt she was still underwater when she picked up the small piece of technology and brought it close to her ear.

"Bella, do you have ti tonight? Noah and I need you to accompany us sowhere. We will pick you up, so tell us where you are and when we can pick you up. We will be there in five minutes."

Anabella had not been awake until now, but when she heard Clair’s voice, she woke up with a snap, and her back went straight. She blinked a few tis to get rid of the lingering sleep in her eyes, but that did nothing to make her unhear what Clair said.

"Excuse , can you repeat what you said? You want to do what now?"

Anabella asked in a low and tense voice.

"Sure! We want you to accompany us to a party. Both I and Noah want you as our partner for the night."

Hearing what Clair spoke twice did not make her words magically beco sothing else.

Anabella would have been less nervous about this if she had been ho. But she was sure she had nothing fancy to wear in her current situation.

While so of her clothes were branded, none were party material. That ant Anabella needed to reject this invitation before Clair could make any plans about her involvent.

"I am sorry, Clair, but I can’t make it. I am staying at a hotel tonight because I wanted to relax, but I did not bring any dress. You and Noah will have to enjoy this party without ."

Anabella spoke softly, and she was sure that this conversation would be over. She was about to end the call when she heard Clair’s voice from the other side of the phone.

"Hmm, that’s fine. If closing is the only reason you deny , I have a solution. Tell which hotel you are staying at, and I will get you."

Clair spoke with far too much cheer in her voice. This startled Anabella, and she knew that she wouldn’t be able to avoid Clair any longer.

’Looks like I need to say goodbye to my precious sleep now. I better head out and et Clair halfway.’

"Fine! You can pick up at XXX location. I will be outside waiting for you, so call once you get there."

Anabella sighed as she pushed herself up and changed clothes. Once she was done, she quickly headed toward the junction she had told Clair about.

She was lucky that the bakery she chose was located near a few hotels, and those hotels could cover for Anabella since she was lying about staying in a hotel.

It only took Clair fifteen minutes to arrive. Anabella was lucky she had arrived in ti, or she would have been caught by the alpha.

"Sit tight. Noah is waiting for us at our destination, and I am sure he has already picked out a dress for you to wear. Ah, don’t worry! It won’t be too much for you to wear. Let us take this chance to play dress up with you. It will be a fun party."

Clair seed to be speaking to herself when she said all that. Anabella felt she had no choice in what she would do and wear initially, and this all made her sigh.

She was sure she was soon in for a world of annoyance, but Anabella had lost her right to complain about it.
