27: Chapter 27 Player Encounter Battle 27: Chapter 27 Player Encounter Battle “Is it really necessary to make a trip here?”

“This ga is kind of nitpicky.”

“The main thing is, we got dissed by an NPC for being cowards who love to lie.

We’re giving the Undead a bad na, sigh.”

“Our information sources are sowhat shady, and we can’t explain it to the NPCs that we saw it on a forum post.”

The two in front continued to complain, but considering they had activated a continuous quest and it was very likely the first instance would open, they suppressed their inner grumbling.

The nimble Moon Slash Blade offered his suggestion: “I think we should play this ga like normal people, not exploit ga chanics.”

Seeing that both the people in front and Loves White Silk, playing the role of “photographer” beside him, were looking at him, he cleared his throat, “Think about it, this ga is so realistic, except for not having to go to the bathroom, and the AI is so smart; it definitely simulates human thought.

The thod of skipping problem-solving processes and going straight to the solution in other gas probably won’t work here.

We need to treat them as if they are real people.”

“But they’re NPCs, how do we pretend?

If we communicate with them with our superior human intelligence, they’ll have an aneurysm.”

“That’s true.”

“I think,” Loves White Silk cleared his throat, “it’s still about the ga code.

It looks like Brother De isn’t happy with our perfunctory attitude, but in reality, the developers must have known our player nature and prepared the lines in advance, just waiting for us to take the bait.”

“If you put it that way, I get it.”

At the Star Dragon Ridge outpost, four players, after receiving the quest from Lind to investigate the Scavenger’s Nest, tried to use the skip thod to bypass the “problem-solving” and give the answer directly.

Instead of receiving a reward from Lord, they got scolded.

“How precious is the pure white lotus that blooms unblemished from the mud!

How respectable is the warrior who doesn’t fear the lion’s roar!

You Undead…”

They were lectured in style; even criticism had standards.

Damn, looked down upon by an NPC!

We players are being called cowards and liars.

So the four players decided to seriously make the journey and thoroughly investigate the Scavenger’s Nest, and before coming, they had a private chat with @Long Live Sister Li, hoping to get more information about the Scavenger’s Nest from him.

Of course, the other party was very eager, and if it weren’t for the fact that the Scavenger’s Nest instance seed lucrative, they would have deleted their account and started over already.

Passing through the rocky terrain, they proceeded down the barren path.

Looking back, the Star Dragon Ridge outpost was getting smaller, shrouded in a mist that was hard to discern under the broken moonlight.

“Found an item,” the Dragon Scale Sword suddenly said, holding up a piece of dried rat at.

“Keep it, the food in the territory isn’t being sold to outsiders right now.”

Players need to eat too, as eating helps recover health points.

They would either tough it out when losing health or simply commit suicide on the spot, with the equipnt and experience bursting out to be picked up later.

Or it’s just the early ga when they had no money or food sources.

After the first person picked up at, the rest unconsciously looked down while walking, fearful of missing sothing.

“Realistically speaking, the four of us taking down the whole Scavenger’s Nest isn’t very likely.”

“Hmm.”

“There should be so prerequisite storyline, or after we defeat the boss, Brother De leads the Soldiers in a CG appearance, and we just clap on the sidelines.”

“Stop, you’re getting too close to the truth.”

Although they didn’t stop talking, they all drew their weapons as they got closer to the small hill to the north.

The terrain around the Star Dragon Ridge outpost is bizarre; to the west and north is the Withered Wood Forest, and further west and north of it are mountains that enclose this place like towering walls.

To the northeast are scattered hills, their target for this trip.

The saw-tooth shape of the small hills heightened their tension.

The countless “fangs” appeared as if a Calamity monster with hundreds of teeth was opening its giant maw, and they were walking towards it step by step.

A chill rose unbidden in the hearts of the four players, who couldn’t help but marvel at nature’s craftsmanship.

It was so real, one could almost forget it was just a ga.

In the quiet night, danger seed to lurk in every corner.

Looking back, the Undead who don’t get “tired” could no longer see the Star Dragon Ridge outpost behind them, as the undulating terrain completely cut off their line of sight.

Their vision shifted back again.

“I think luring out the enemies is a good choice,” said Kirin Sword: “Taken down one by one, let them play catch-up like the Calabash Brothers.”

Investigate = assassinate = annihilate!

As soon as he spoke, the other three imdiately understood.

It was the sa steps as the investigation of the wanderers before.

Calling it an investigation, but in the end, it was direct action.

That’s how we players roll.

“Can we pull it off?”

“I don’t think it’s a matter of whether we can do it or not, but do you guys see what that is?”

Loves White Silk pointed ahead.

The gauze of night did not fully cover the eyes, as a staggering figure erged from the dense darkness, treading on the patchy, barren path towards them.

This was the first ti the players truly laid eyes on the appearance of a “Calamity monster.”

The skin was dry, the body bent, resembling a mummified corpse.

But the monster’s claws and feet were very large, out of proportion, making the mummy need to bend forward to walk.

A deflated sack was tucked on its belly.

No, not a sack, but its stomach.

Ever seen soone go from 300 to 140 pounds?

It kind of looked like that.

Sagging.

“Shall we or shall we not?”

“We’re here to investigate, aren’t we?

Who can say what we need to do to complete the mission?”

“I don’t know.”

“It’s not up to us to choose; it’s noticed us.”

“Shit, it has a nose even better than a dog’s.”

If they saw a Scavenger in real life, they would scream their heads off, scared as if they’d run into sothing on Halloween.

But in the ga, ha, scared of what?

Let’s take it down!

“1v1?

I’ll go!

I can parry!”

Loves White Silk stepped out first, lifted his sword, gathered his energy, and assud his stance in one go.

Him taking a step forward was like a provocative signal to the Scavenger.

“Awoo—!” Instead of attacking, the Scavenger tilted its head back and let out a miserable howl.

“Damn it, why is it calling for others again!”

The four players were stupefied, this ga had no sense of fairness.

Why did the enemy always call for backup before a fight?

So much for team spirit, how are we players supposed to show off?

Run, or…

fight?

“Charge!”

The players had no concept of fear; after all, it wouldn’t hurt.

“Step aside a mont,” Loves White Silk said.

“I’ll draw the aggro first, if I can’t handle it, you guys give it a taste of the Three-Dog Slaughter God Formation.”

“I #$%&…!”

After the Scavenger finished its howl, with its empty, sack-like belly, it leaped from the ground, charging straight at Loves White Silk, the closest target.

The Scavenger’s bloodlust wouldn’t let it pass up the opportunity to fill its belly.

Its raised claws drew an arc as it leaped, plunging down at the highest point.

Loves White Silk, who just professed his skill, instinctively swung out a sword-strike.

He parried too early!

“Shit!

It’s doing a delayed attack!”

His body instinctively rolled forward to dodge.

As Loves White Silk flashed forward, the Scavenger naturally fell into the “Three-Dog Slaughter God Formation” devised by the trio, an attack from three different directions.

Clang.

The claw struck the shield, and the Black Tortoise Shield bearer was knocked flat with the shield.

“I’m okay!” Black Tortoise Shield gritted his teeth.

Almost breached the defense.

Dragon Scale Sword and Moon Slash Blade quickly followed up with two strikes, leaving two vicious wounds on the Scavenger without resistance.

“It’s fine, high offense but low defense!”

Nobody was frightened; on the contrary, they were all fired up.

“This is what fighting a boss should feel like!”
