Chapter 215: Younger Uncle Doubts His Life
Zhao Zhitong blinked and shook her head. "Nothing’s wrong, Big Brother. What do you need to do?"
Seeing that Zhao Zhitong was indeed fine, Zhao Cheng breathed a sigh of relief and waved his hand. "It’s nothing, it’s nothing. I just ca back to get a shovel and saw you sitting here in a daze. I called out to you, but you didn’t respond. You really scared ."
Zhao Zhitong laughed awkwardly. "No, I was just thinking about sothing."
Zhao Cheng gave a good-natured grin. "Alright, as long as you’re fine."
After saying that, he took the shovel and went back to the backyard.
So that’s what happens, Zhao Zhitong realized. When my consciousness enters the space for a long ti, I appear to be in a daze in the real world.
With this realization, Zhao Zhitong simply closed her eyes and entered the space again.
In just that short while, the peony flowers in the space had blood.
April and May were the blooming season for peonies, and the transplanted peonies were already budding and ready to bloom.
Looking at the three-color peony flowers that had truly blood on one plant, Zhao Zhitong was ecstatic. "Success! We succeeded!"
Then she ran to pull Grandpa Bai over. "Grandpa Bai, look! We succeeded!"
Grandpa Bai, wobbling as the young girl pulled him along, was laughing so hard his mouth couldn’t close. "Oh, oh, I see it, I see it!"
I should transplant it outside quickly, otherwise it will wither soon, Zhao Zhitong thought. Decisively, she picked up a small shovel and dug the peony flower out of the Spiritual Field.
Then, she quickly left the space and ran towards the backyard.
「 」
Zhao Ya was picking vegetables in the vegetable garden. Hearing footsteps, she looked up and saw Zhao Zhitong running over, holding a peony plant. Her eyes widened instantly.
The peony flowers were large and colorful, the blooms exceptionally vibrant. Most importantly, although it was clearly a single peony plant, it bore flowers of three different colors: white, yellow, and purple!
It wasn’t until Zhao Zhitong ran into the vegetable garden that she snapped out of her astonishnt and asked, "Sister, where did you get such beautiful flowers?"
Zhao Zhitong was overjoyed. "Haha, isn’t it beautiful?"
Zhao Ya nodded vigorously. "So beautiful! It’s the most beautiful flower I’ve ever seen."
Zhao Zhitong bead. "I cultivated this from the peonies we bought in the county town earlier."
Zhao Ya had no doubt about where Zhao Zhitong had cultivated it from; her heart was simply filled with admiration for her amazing younger sister.
"Sister, you are so amazing."
Zhao Zhitong chuckled. "It’s nothing, really. Sister Yaya, will you help plant it in the vegetable plot?"
Seeing Zhao Zhitong ask for her help, Zhao Ya imdiately nodded. "Mm-hmm, sure."
So, the two young girls found a vacant spot in the vegetable plot, dug a hole, and planted the peony flower.
Zhao Zhitong wasn’t worried about the peony flower dying. Its roots still carried soil from the Spiritual Field, and this soil, connected to the Spiritual Spring, was rich in spiritual energy.
The two young girls busied themselves for a long ti before finally getting the peony flower planted. Afterwards, they stood admiring it for a while.
Zhao Ya suddenly exclaid, "Oh no! Aunt is still waiting for to pick vegetables for dinner!"
Zhao Zhitong clapped her small hands and said happily, "I’ll pick them with you!"
「 」
Zhao Zhitong remained very excited about successfully cultivating the three-color peony.
The next day, after school, Zhao Zhitong went to her maternal grandfather’s house to study dicine. As soon as she entered the courtyard, she eagerly pulled her Younger Uncle into the alley.
Zhao Zhitong said excitedly, "Younger Uncle, the technique for grafting peony flowers from the book actually works! It really does!"
After speaking, she blinked, looking at Sun Youcai with utmost sincerity.
Sun Youcai wasn’t convinced. "You little girl, you still haven’t given up on that? Your thod doesn’t sound reliable at all. How can you just cut a piece off one plant and stick it onto another?"
It wasn’t entirely Sun Youcai’s fault for being so disbelieving.
This was mainly because grafting technology didn’t exist at the ti, and the concept itself sounded rather horrifying when first heard.
It was like a physician claiming he could detach an arm from one person, attach it to another, and the arm would still be usable.
Anyone hearing this for the first ti would think the physician was mad.
Seeing Sun Youcai still didn’t believe her, Zhao Zhitong grew anxious. "It’s true! Younger Uncle, why won’t you believe ? I’ve already cultivated one. If you don’t believe it, co to my house and see!"
Hearing this, Sun Youcai chuckled. He thought Zhao Zhitong was joking and patiently coaxed her, "Alright, alright, dear. Next ti, okay? Next year, when we plant more, we’ll try your thod then."
"Hmph!" Zhao Zhitong crossed her arms, her cheeks puffed out as she declared, "Younger Uncle is a blockhead!"
Sun Youcai’s eyes widened as he glared. "Hey! You little rascal, how dare you scold your uncle!"
As he spoke, he raised his hand, pretending he was going to spank her bottom.
Zhao Zhitong wasn’t the least bit intimidated. She pouted, turned her head away, and ignored Sun Youcai. "Hmph!"
Looking at the sulking young girl, Sun Youcai finally relented. "Alright, alright, my little ancestor. When I take you ho later, I’ll go with you to see it, how about that?"
Zhao Zhitong finally smiled and extended her little finger. "Pinky promise."
"Alright, anything you say."
Sun Youcai sighed helplessly. He truly had no way of dealing with this little niece of his.
Seeing her Younger Uncle agree, Zhao Zhitong was finally happy. After making a pinky promise with Sun Youcai, she scampered off to the backyard to find Sun Kang.
When evening ca and Sun Kang’s teaching ended for the day, Zhao Zhitong, eager for her Younger Uncle to see her peony flower, didn’t stay for dinner. After bidding farewell to her maternal grandfather and grandmother, she grabbed her Younger Uncle’s hand and hurried him towards her ho.
「 」
I must be dreaming, Sun Youcai thought.
Yes, this has to be a dream. It’s too unreal! He was actually seeing the three-color peony his little niece had grown.
Sun Youcai rubbed his eyes several tis and then pinched his thigh hard.
"OUCH!"
A cry of pain escaped him. It wasn’t a dream.
This ans Zhao Zhitong really did grow it!
He leaned in closer to the peony flower, still in disbelief. It wasn’t an artificial flower, nor were the colors dyed on; it was a real, living flower.
Moreover, the flower blood exceptionally large and seed to emit a faint, delightful fragrance. The colors were incredibly vivid. The white was as pure as white jade.
The yellow bloom resembled a young lady in a yellow gauze dress, swaying in the wind—utterly beautiful.
The purple one stood tall on its stem, like a king among flowers—proud, aloof, and seemingly transcendent.
It took Sun Youcai a long mont to find his voice. He asked in disbelief, "Tongtong, was this really cultivated using that thod?"
Zhao Zhitong nodded vigorously. "Yes, yes! So, Younger Uncle, do you want to grow them?"
Sun Youcai slapped his thigh, his voice filled with excitent. "Grow them! Of course, I want to grow them!"
His gaze fell upon the peony again, his eyes practically glued to it. This peony flower, if it hits the market, will definitely be snapped up!
Sun Youcai was grinning from ear to ear. He reached out and gently pinched Zhao Zhitong’s little cheek. "Tongtong, you truly are our family’s Little Lucky Star."
Zhao Zhitong pouted, seizing the chance to settle old scores. "Hmph! And Younger Uncle didn’t even believe earlier."
