Jiang Lei opened his eyes, his head a bit sore.
He rubbed his temples and sat up, only to find himself in an unfamiliar place.
Suddenly, it hit him. Right! Yesterday, the old lady insisted on having him over for a thank-you dinner, and after two drinks, he was out cold.
His drinking capacity, indeed!
Probably hearing so movent in his room, the door creaked open, and Li Xiuyun walked in with a cup of tea, handing it to him.
"Does your head still hurt? This is my dad’s special hangover tea. Drink a couple of sips, and you should feel a bit better."
Jiang Lei took the tea and drank it in one go. To be honest, it did make him feel a lot better.
"I’m sorry, Comrade Xiuyun, for making such a scene at your house."
He really didn’t expect that he’d drink himself into this state.
Li Xiuyun laughed softly.
"It’s nothing. It’s all my dad’s fault for forcing you to drink; otherwise, you wouldn’t have made such a scene. The main bla is on my dad, nothing to do with you."
Jiang Lei got up, "What ti is it now?"
Li Xiuyun replied with a smile, "It’s already morning, but you woke up quite early. It’s just 6 AM. Soon, it’ll be ti for work. My mom’s already made breakfast, so after breakfast, you can head off to work."
Jiang Lei sighed apologetically.
"I’m really sorry. First ti visiting, and I actually slept over at your house."
Li Xiuyun and Jiang Lei both laughed.
Li Xiuyun rembered the first ti she visited Jiang Lei’s house and also stayed over for a night.
It truly was fate.

Then I forgot your workplace, so I didn’t know where to find you. This whole thing just ended without action, and yet I ended up coming over to your house for dinner instead."
Jiang Lei spoke with a smile on his lips.
"What’s there to thank? If anyone should be thanked, it should be my family thanking you. You saved my mom and saved . If we were in the olden tis, for such a life-saving grace, I’d probably have to repay with my own life."
Li Xiuyun said these words aningfully, with no way around it.
She wanted to be a reserved woman, but her straightforward personality and sincerity towards others showed otherwise.
She’s the kind of enthusiastic and bold girl, and she hasn’t found soone mainly because she hasn’t t the right person yet.
When she first t Jiang Lei, she indeed developed feelings for him.

Her words were also half true and half probing because she didn’t know if Jiang Lei had soone over the past year.

"I wouldn’t dare call it that. What’s life-saving grace? Besides, if such a pretty girl offers herself, I’d be getting a huge bargain. If my mom knew a girl offered herself willingly, she’d probably go over the moon.
My mom constantly urges to go on blind dates. If she knew, she’d probably push for us to get the marriage certificate tomorrow."
Talking about his mom’s antics, Jiang Lei felt a headache coming on.
There really isn’t a way around it. All the sisters in the family are married with kids.
He’s the only bachelor left, and his mom seed like she couldn’t wait to hold a grandson.

It was just unclear about Jiang Lei’s expectations. Seeing as he was older than her and not married, he probably had high standards. It wasn’t certain if she could et them.
"She’s still pushing . I guess your mom’s been pushing you too? I just feel that marriage has to be with the right person. At the very least, two people should connect at heart; otherwise, if you just grab soone to marry,
with no common ground, how do you manage life together? I don’t want to settle casually."
Jiang Lei had his own principles.
Having witnessed the contrast between successful and unsuccessful marriages of his older sisters, in his heart, he wanted to find that soone too.
A woman he wanted to cherish and love, to live a good life with.
His uncle was an example, marrying for the sake of marriage, and the result wasn’t necessarily what he wanted.
"Honestly, I think the sa way. Marriage shouldn’t be settled for. Finding soone you can talk to and have shared interests with is key for freedom in life. Settling casually leads to suffering, both for yourself and for others."
Li Xiuyun gave Jiang Lei a aningful look.
Jiang Lei felt a stir in his heart. To find out that Li Xiuyun’s views aligned so perfectly with his was unexpected.
"Let’s go. I need to wash my face, have breakfast, and head to work. It would be troubleso to be late. I have a lot of work today."
Jiang Lei had to finish repairing those two cars today. Without fixing up the ambulance, they wouldn’t be able to use it, and their hospital was quite pressed for ambulances. It was, after all, located in the busiest district.
Li Xiuyun then realized she’d been sitting for quite a while in Jiang Lei’s room. Even though this was her ho, Jiang Lei was a single man.

Jiang Lei readily agreed.
"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Xiuyun gets there safely. Aunty, you and uncle don’t need to bother. It’s my first ti at your ho, and I’ve already caused such trouble. I’m really sorry about yesterday.
Honestly, I can’t hold my liquor. I don’t usually drink, as my parents always advise against drinking. Driving requires attention to personal safety, for the family’s sake and one’s own."
The old lady chuckled, "It’s good you don’t drink. That’s one thing you’ve got over your uncle—your uncle’s been smoking and drinking all his life. No matter how much I urge, he can’t quit."
This kid is truly likable.
