A few bulky, boorish n stood at the factory gate.
As Jiang Xin left after work, soone pointed at her.
Then her bicycle was blocked by soone.
A rough-looking man blocked Jiang Xin.
"Are you Jiang Xin? Co with us."
Jiang Xin was stunned, trying to calm herself down. How did she get involved with these thugs?
"What do you want? I don’t know you!"
The man kicked Jiang Xin’s bicycle hard.
"Cut the crap. If you want us to use force, then say it. Are you coming or not?"
Jiang Xin was overwheld with fear. It was her first ti encountering such people, and she was a woman. What if sothing went wrong by going with them?
Looking at the four n before her, all with bulky bodies and fierce looks, Jiang Xin knew she couldn’t possibly fight them nor escape.
So she had no choice but to follow them obediently.
Fortunately, they didn’t walk far, just to a tea stall by the factory gate.
There were many tea sellers at the factory entrance, also selling tea eggs, dan dan noodles, among other things. This particular stall was the most popular. While Jiang Xin hadn’t eaten here, she often saw it crowded.
But today, there was only one table occupied. Jiang Xin noticed a woman, around thirty, sitting there, with big wavy curls, dressed flamboyantly, and heavily made-up. Jiang Xin didn’t think highly of such people.
A few individuals stood around her, none speaking, with one man kneeling on the ground, trembling.
Jiang Xin dared not speak, amazed at the intimidating sight, sothing she was seeing for the first ti in her life.
A bit terrified, she wondered who she had provoked.
The woman finished eating, wiped her mouth with a handkerchief, then tossed it on the man’s face.
Jiang Xin watched, scared, though the humiliation seed mild. She saw so people pin the man’s hand against the table, making him tremble but unable to protest or resist.
Jiang Xin looked at the woman with the brick.
She took the full brick and slamd it down on the man’s hand, each blow unsettling to hear.
Blood soon flowed, making Jiang Xin break out in a sweat, experiencing such a scene for the first ti.
Indeed, for the first ti, fear spread in Jiang Xin’s heart, though the strike was on soone else’s hand, instinctively making her clench her fists.
She felt pain in her fingers, palms, and the back of her hand.
The most terrifying thing was a woman doing this, more intimidating than a man.
The woman wiped her hands then waved, sending the man away, making Jiang Xin fearful, uncertain of her own fate!
The problem was, she knew nothing.
The woman turned to Jiang Xin, coming over to her.
She squeezed Jiang Xin’s cheeks, examining her like a commodity.
"Quite pretty, would you like to dance at the ballroom with us?"
Jiang Xin felt humiliated, shook her head, looked seriously at the woman, standing straight. She didn’t understand what dancing implied.
But it surely wasn’t anything good.
She pulled out a promissory note from her pocket,
showed it in Jiang Xin’s face,
"Look, clearly written in black and white. I, Sister Cat, never deceive when doing business."
Jiang Xin, hearing her words, was a bit bewildered, looking at the note. It was a promissory note stating one thousand yuan.
Jiang Xin felt her mind was a bit chaotic. Her na was on it. She recalled it was Qin Dazhuang’s promissory note, the handwriting was familiar.
However, Jiang Xin never expected he would write her na.
"It’s the money Qin Dazhuang borrowed from you, it has nothing to do with ."
Jiang Xin had just spoken when a fatty slapped her face, making it burn.
Sister Cat, grinning, said,
"I graduated from elentary school, not very educated, but I can read. It says Jiang Xin, so I’m asking Jiang Xin for the money. When will you pay?"
"I, I can’t repay..."
Jiang Xin, holding her face, spoke helplessly and powerlessly.
At this mont, emphasizing it wasn’t her handwriting would only invite a beating.
One thousand yuan was too much, Jiang Xin truly couldn’t pay it back...
Sister Cat looked at her, very serious, Jiang Xin never expected to fear a woman soday.
It was a bone-deep fear.
That kind of absolute fear.
"Two choices: work at my ballroom, I’ll find you a wealthy boss. With your conditions, maybe you could pay it off in three months and even earn a few thousand. It’s light work, do you want to do it?"
Sister Cat’s words made Jiang Xin’s face flush.
Jiang Xin shook her head.
She sneered, saying.
"Alright, a decent woman is like this! Clinging to dignity while suffering. I’ll find you exhausting work then. I know a coal mine boss, mining underground, no gender preference, though it’s tough, it’s three thousand a year.
I only take one thousand; the rest is yours, but whether you live to spend it, it’s all on your own luck. Sign it."
Sister Cat spoke, tossing a paper onto Jiang Xin’s face.
Jiang Xin was terrified internally, going to a coal mine as illegal labor, dying unnoticed, she definitely wouldn’t go.
"I won’t sign. Give so ti, I’ll find a way, I will definitely repay you."
Sister Cat watched as Jiang Xin stood up, approached her.
"I, Sister Cat, always respect people. Finding you today is just to give a warning. We collectors have our procedures, the first paynt is three hundred, within three days. If you can’t find the money, don’t bla for selling you.
The previous person surpassed the deadline, the first ti we serve with bricks, the second ti we chop off a hand. Have you heard of a limbless? I suppose you don’t want to be a limbless, right?
Of course, not selling you is also fine, aren’t there two daughters? I can find good families, they’re worth so money too. Don’t think of running away. I know exactly where your family lives."
Sister Cat’s words were threatening, making Jiang Xin close her eyes, unable to imagine the horrid scene, terrifying. She finished speaking and left, no longer making things difficult for Jiang Xin.
But Jiang Xin knew the nightmare was only beginning.
A few thug-like people gave Jiang Xin a hostile glance and left as well, the last person leaving a sheet of paper for Jiang Xin, glanced at it, it was their address.
Jiang Xin was left crying silently, the first ti ever being so scared she couldn’t speak because of a woman. She shivered, but the more pressing issue was the money, one thousand yuan, where could she find it?
Jiang Xin got up, stumbled back ho.
Seeing her two daughters happily playing in the yard.
She rushed forward, tightly hugged Zhaodi and Ladi.
Jiang Lao Shi and Fan Xiuying heard her crying, ca out, seeing their bruised daughter holding the kids and sobbing.
Startled, they quickly helped her inside.
After half an hour.
Jiang Lei, Jiang Xiaoxiao, Jiang Yue, and Jiang Lao Shi, Fan Xiuying gathered around Jiang Xin.
