Mrs. Wu asked the driver to take her to the old house.

The driver noticed Mrs. Wu seed unsettled, which was unusual.

Mrs. Wu had been through so much over the years, weathering many storms, but he had never seen her like this.

Once they arrived, Mrs. Wu hurried inside.

"Wei Guo! Wei Guo!"

Wei Guo put down his book and stepped out of the study to find his mother looking anxious.

"Mom! Why are you here? Did sothing happen?"

He knew that his nephew Wu Xiaocheng was critically ill, and the whole family was worried. His own situation made it awkward for him to visit, as it would only cause trouble for the Wu family.

There would undoubtedly be many visitors to his nephew’s hospital room, and his presence would only add to the gossip and disturbances.

He thought, better not to cause trouble for the family.

In fact, maybe it was for the best; he had never married and had no children. Even if he died, it wouldn’t be a major concern.

His parents had his siblings to take care of them, so he wasn’t worried.

With or without him, it was all the sa.

No one could exploit his weaknesses; his future was of no importance.

Mrs. Wu carefully looked Wei Guo up and down, convinced she was right!

That child had the exact sa eyes as her son.

"Co with !"

She strode into the study.

Wei Guo watched in shock as his mother rummaged through the study, hurriedly trying to climb on a chair to reach a box stored high in the cabinet.

Mrs. Wu was risking her life!

"Let , Mom, let do it, okay!"

Mrs. Wu looked at the height and realized she was being unreasonable.

Falling would only worry the children, and it would be her fault.

She pointed at the box, "That’s the one, right! Take it slowly, it’s heavy. It contains all your childhood photos."

Wei Guo chuckled wryly; the box was indeed heavy, his poor back.

He was glad he’d endured hardships; doing this didn’t seem too much now.

The dust on the box was barely cleaned off before Mrs. Wu urgently dug out a photo album.

Her hand was covered in dust.

Wei Guo went to fetch a wet cloth himself.

Mrs. Wu opened a page, "Look! Didn’t I say they look so alike? See for yourself."

Wei Guo helped his mother clean the album and took a glance.

The top photo was of his parents holding him at one year old, below was a photo of him at three, riding a wooden horse; and at the bottom was a photo of him at eighteen, just admitted to university, a fresh-faced young man with innocent pride, standing at the entrance of the dical university.

All his own photos!

"Mom, who do I look like? My father, or you?"

"Eldest, tell the truth. I rember you ntioning you had a close girlfriend, but her family disapproved because of your situation. That girl got married—did she have a child with you?"

As a mother asking this, Mrs. Wu felt awkward!

But not asking ant she couldn’t move past the doubt in her heart.

Wei Guo laughed, "Mom, what are you joking about? There’s no such thing! Could soone have shown up claiming to be my child?"

His girlfriend married, but he had never so much as touched her.

How could there be any bla on him?

Mrs. Wu, looking at her mischievous son, gave him a smack on the head, and Wei Guo rubbed his forehead.

He felt aggrieved.

"Mom, what is going on? Please, clarify. You can’t just hit without explanation; let at least die knowing why."

"Not ’die,’ live! Mom just wants to ask, really none? Today I saw a girl, nineteen years old, who looks exactly like you. Look at this photo of you at nineteen; she’s like your duplicate. How could I not be suspicious?

If such a thing exists, you have to bring the child back. You haven’t had anyone to care for you these years. If you have a child, at least you’d have sothing to rely on when you’re old."

Mrs. Wu felt heartbroken over her eldest son. Ever since that incident, even when things were resolved, he only worked as a temporary boiler worker in a library, as per the organization’s arrangent, which they couldn’t oppose.

Because of the black mark on his record, no one wanted to marry him.

Let alone think about starting a family and having children.

This child was almost fifty and would soon grow old under these circumstances. No wife, no children—while they were around it was fine, but when Mrs. Wu was gone, it would be a hundred worries.

Wei Guo’s eyes dimd.

His thoughts drifted back to the ti when he was falsely accused of that incident, and the disgusting woman who caused it made him wish he could kill her.

Could it be...

"Get back to !"

Mrs. Wu was anxious! For so reason, she felt the young Doctor Jiang was connected to their family.

Wei Guo feigned indifference and asked, "Mom, truly no such thing. Otherwise, tell who she is; I’ll sneak a look. How could there be soone so similar to fool even my mom? I’m truly innocent!"

Mrs. Wu looked at her son’s expression, which showed no hint of trickery, and sighed.

It seed she had overreacted.

"It’s Doctor Jiang who’s treating Xiao Cheng, very capable despite her young age. She looks just like you, especially when she smiles, almost like she ca from the sa mold.

I was moved myself. That child’s background is unclear too. You know Fang Zhiyuan from the Fang family, right? Back then, you were almost friends. Apparently, Fang Zhiyuan and Ye Hua went to claim they were the child’s biological parents—that there was a mix-up at the hospital.

But I don’t think so; Doctor Jiang has a slight resemblance to Ye Hua, and none to Fang Zhiyuan."

Mrs. Wu knew she was obsessed.

Her son couldn’t possibly have such a grown child.

She was being crazy.

Wei Guo tightened his fingers when he heard Fang Zhiyuan and Ye Hua’s nas, and then slowly loosened them.

"Mom, this child seems to have suffered. Was there any explanation for the mix-up?"

Mrs. Wu shook her head, "Who knows! So many children are born at the hospital every day, and I’ve always heard stories of swapped babies. We never encountered such a thing."

"Do Doctor Jiang’s parents treat her well?"

Mrs. Wu flipped through the remaining photos, absent-mindedly responding, "Should be good; otherwise, Doctor Jiang wouldn’t defend her parents like that. Doctor Jiang stated she doesn’t recognize the Fang family or Ye Hua. Without evidence, they can’t reclaim a daughter! Wishful thinking!

She seems to have a lot of affection for her parents. Oh, Doctor Jiang is actually Feifei’s good friend, and Feifei should know."

Wu Fei!

That niece he t once. Yes, about the sa age.

"Oh! Didn’t expect Wu Fei to actually have a decent friend."

Wu Fei was surrounded by those spoiled brats; what decent people could there be?

"Sigh! I thought Wu Fei finally showed good taste. This Doctor Jiang is impressive; if she were my granddaughter, I’d love her dearly, but sadly she’s not. Eldest, think carefully, maybe you forgot sothing."

Mrs. Wu was reluctant.

Wei Guo smiled faintly, "Mom, I’ll think carefully. It’s possible I forgot sothing."

Indeed, he must take a better look at that child.

Ye Hua was truly reckless; he must have a proper conversation with her.

It wasn’t enough that she disgusted him; now she dared to hide such a major issue.
