In the ti that it had taken for the Undead Kings to retreat, the other elite summons had all prepared their attacks. Just as they were about to launch them, a powerful voice ripped through the air, filled with anger, hatred and the pain of betrayal.
"YOU TRAITOROUS SCUM!!! I WILL HAVE YOUR HEADS!" Garr proclaid to the heavens as he fought back against the unending downpour of lightning.
"Not so fast!" Ignis snorted and let his attack fall. The sky turned red as the space around them began to warp from the imnse heat that had been called forth by Ignis. His hand swiped down and a pillar of red light fell from the sky and slamd into the ground.
BOOM!
An imnse explosion erupted.
Ignis clasped his hands together as he tried to control the radius of the explosion so he could make it more concentrated in the area where Garr was trapped.
"Let go next!" Fenrir opened his mouth wide. The inside of his large mouth was pitch black, almost as if it led to another space entirely.
Whoosh!
A beam of blue light flashed from his mouth and shot straight into the middle of the do of scorching red flas. The temperature dropped to a chilling level before imdiately rising back up, setting off an even greater explosion that Ignis strained to contain.
"Damn mutt! A warning would have been nice!"
The do of bright red flas swelled madly under Ignis's compression. The entire area within that do was already vaporized, but Garr's body managed to hold true even under such hostile conditions. It was a testant to his great power, as any other A rank should have long since turned to ashes by now.
Crack!
The space around the do trembled before being compressed. The space around the do folded many tis, taking off so of the burden from Ignis' mind. At the sa ti, a powerful spatial storm erupted within the do, bringing another wave of attacks down on Garr.
"One last blow!" Nero finally ca with his own attack. A giant red sword made of pure mana hovered in the air. The tip was faced downward and the giant hilt was faced upwards. Nero stood on the butt of the hilt with a determined air around him.
Whoosh!
The clouds in the sky parted as the sword stabbed down and into the do of fire. Even the do of fire was completely overwheld by the sheer might of the giant sword.
Garr's body was consud in an explosion of light and mana that temporarily blinded everyone present. The light lasted for an entire minute before dying down.
When the visions of those present returned, they were shocked to see a giant crater that was nothing less than a hundred ters deep. At the bottom of a crater, a body that was charred beyond belief was laying still. The mana around there was too chaotic for most people to see past it, but certain people had special ans to peer through the haze.
The signs of life were hazy, but they were present. Even though he was beaten, bruised and burnt beyond belief, Garr was still alive, and it was a miracle in itself.
At this ti, what Leon was summoning had also finally erged. An army that was as dark as the abyss itself rose from his Abyss of the Undead. They poured out almost endlessly. Each wave of summons brought an unholy pulse of energy that made the hearts of everyone palpitate. All of Leon's enemies felt their hearts leap into their throats in fear. They imdiately began to wonder why they had not been the ones to retreat instead of the Undead Kings.
"Retreat!" The order ca from none other than High General Ashtar. The powerful Demon General had managed to use a trump card to distance himself from Leonidas after trying and failing to exploit the openings in Leonidas' guard. It turned out that those openings were left there on so kind of baser instinct to help him trap his enemies that tried to exploit them. He had lost an arm to that.
As the leader of the war this ti, Ashtar could already tell that unless the Demon Continent put its all behind this war and sent millions of combatants, then there was no way they would succeed in this conquest.
With the resounding order, the frightened Demons began falling back. Their enemies did not miss this chance to rain down attacks on them. Because they were more focused on fleeing than standing their ground to fight, more of them inevitably died as they fled.
Leon sighed when he saw this. He was dumbfounded. Was that all? He didn't even get to fight! This was the most anti-climatic end to the war that he could have imagined. What was the point of summoning the Naless Order, only for the Demons to fall back?
Unless their retreat was just temporary?
Leon sighed and shook his head as more of the Naless Order stepped through. At this point, the Ten Knights had passed through and quickly ca up to Leon.
"My Lord." They knelt in the air and spoke as one.
"My Lord, we have done as you commanded us. We have retrieved the Naless Order for you." The Knight that had spoken for the others before spoke up again. "While in the Demon Continent, we ca across a demonic beast that was also searching for the Naless Order." He said.
Leon held his chin in thought.
"Tell more." He said.
The Knight proceeded to recount the events that had occurred after he and his comrades set foot on the Demon Continent. He started from how they had snuck through the protected borders of the continent, traveled discreetly through their abilities, and even ntioned encountering certain special ruins.
"As for the demonic beast, we ran into him snooping around the area where the Naless Order was put to sleep. He was sent by the Demon King to retrieve the Naless Order."
