The pin-drop silence that ca after Qu Xing Xu said those words were evident. The people inside the hall of the east courtyard were all in disbelief as they couldn't comprehend that the Duke of Xin ca to their humble ho carrying chests that were filled with who knows what.
From just a glance, the chests were made out of sturdy and hard to co by woods and there were even gems that were around and on top of it, making them believe that just one of these chests even without what's inside it was enough to buy a small house in the Capital.
The sound of gulping could be heard as everyone except Lin Xiaong stared at what Qu Xing Xu has brought with envy and desire to steal it from him.

As it looked like Qu Xing Xu was adamant to call him 'grandfather', Lin Xiaong couldn't refuse him any longer and gave up.
"Since it is what you want, then, I guess there's nothing to stop here from calling you by your na." Lin Xiaong said. His eyes when he looked at the young man sitting on the side with gentle eyes.
In his eyes, he felt that this young man was indeed a suitable partner to his granddaughter.
Sadly, his granddaughter thought otherwise.
Lin Xiaofei believed that Lin Xiaong will make it difficult for Qu Xing Xu and he wouldn't give in to the shaless man who wanted to take his granddaughter from him. However, she thought wrong as not only did Lin Xiaong gave in, he also seed to be in cloud nine to know that the most sought after man in the entire empire is now calling him 'grandfather'.
Thinking about the mocking eyes that so officials used to look at him when he asked if they could make their sons marry Lin Xiaofei, Lin Xiaong was in a good mood and couldn't wait to see the shocked faces of the officials who mocked him as he slapped them with the truth that Qu Xing Xu will now beco his grandson!
On the other hand, while Lin Xiaong was feeling so elated at the sudden appearance of his grandson-in-law, the other Lin family wasn't as happy as he was as they still couldn't accept that Lin Xiaofei ended up getting the biggest fish in the sea.
Looking at the wide smile on Lin Xiaong, Lin Sang decided to speak, "Duke Qu Xing Xu, I can understand that you wish to marry one of our young misses in the family but I can't seem to understand why must you co here in this weather." He paused before looking at the chest, "And also, what's with all these things?"
Lin Sang was trying to indirectly say that Qu Xing Xu didn't show any respect to the Lin family for coming there when there's a storm outside as it was seen as a bad on and bad manners to do by soone who's asking for a young lady's hand for marriage.
Another, Lin Sang didn't ntion Lin Xiaofei's na and instead, ntioned that they have other young misses in the family as if he was advertising his two daughters to Qu Xing Xu.
His two daughters, Lin Yueyi and Lin Xiao were far more beautiful and talented than Lin Xiaofei. Surely, a young man would like a cultured woman with manners right? Besides, if only he could give one of his daughters to Qu Xing Xu as a concubine, Lin Sang won't even hesitate to wrap his daughter with ribbons and sent them away.
Qu Xing Xu ignored his underlying aning and chuckled, "I don't an any ill intent when coming here in this kind of weather. However, I thought that today is perfect to propose to a young lady and I also couldn't wait any longer to marry Lin Xiaofei."
He suddenly looked towards the entrance of the hall and saw two figures standing there and his smile broadened, "I don't know what I would do if the girl I like slipped away from my hands. I'm sure grandfather understood what I feel after grandmother passed away."
A gasp escaped Bai Lu as she heard those words coming inside the hall. She secretly glanced at her young miss who stopped walking.
Lin Xiaofei frowned when those words entered her ears. She finally believed that Qu Xing Xu lost his mind or maybe he left it in his house before coming to the Lin residence.
Else, what could possibly explain why he was saying those words while looking at her with sparkling eyes.
