While the rain was still heavily pouring down the ground, a special guest has co to the Lin residence.
One does not know who suddenly ca without sending a notice letter to the Lin family and just ca unannounced. However, with just a look at the large black carriage that could probably be mistaken for a small house with four black strong horses in front of it, anyone who dared to pass by the road could tell that the identity of the person inside the courage was not small.
The guards stationed outside of the Lin residence couldn't help but look at each other. They clearly didn't get a report that soone would be visiting the Lin family. With the rain outside, there's also a small chance that anyone will co out of their houses to rely visit the Lin family.
So, who was this person who didn't even care about the weather and decided to co to the Lin residence?
At this mont, the few people who passed by also wondered who this esteed person was as they stopped montarily to take a look.
Aside from the large carriage, there were also other carriages from behind it but it was smaller in size compared to the large carriage in front thus, they were overlooked by many.
However, it wasn't that long until soone gasped in shock..
"Brother, co and slap in the face." One passerby said to the other who looked at him bewildered before taking this opportunity to slap soone.
'smack!'
The passerby who spoke felt the stinging pain on his cheeks and clutched it but it seems that he was still not awake from his stupor as he pointed a trembling finger towards the large carriage.
"Uncle Bo, what are you looking frightened for?! That's only a big carriage, there's no need for you to look so scared at it." The man who slapped him said.
Look frightened? The man looked at him but thought that he wasn't frightened by the least. He was fascinated and awestruck mixed with excitent and fear!
Slapping the back of the guy who slapped him, he said, "Fool! What are you talking about? Can't you see that insignia that's on top of the carriage?!"
The other man glared at him after he was slapped but he was curious to look at what he was talking about hence, he raised his head towards where he was pointing at.
Because the man's voice wasn't lowered, the few people who gathered out of curiosity and the guards standing in front of the Lin residence also looked upwards and was instantly shocked.
On top of the carriage, the coiling iron around it stopped at the top where a creature was seated upon. It was small but no one could deny that the emblem was enough to be captivated and make one feel weak in the knees.
The emblem on top of the carriage shows a creature with a dragon head with two horns on top of its head while the body was fully scaled and its two tails looked like it there was a ball of fire in it as it coiled behind it.
Suddenly, everyone couldn't speak as they were taken with shock and delight. Their hearts were bow beating fast and loud inside them.
"I-isn't that the symbol of the Duke of Xin, Qu Xing Xu?"
"T-that's right!"
"But why is it in here?"
There was a long pause until soone scread, "Could it be that the Duke himself is here?!"
With that, the guards took actions first as they kneeled on one knee and cupped their hands in front of them as if they're greeting the emperor.
Whether the Duke of Xin was indeed inside the carriage or not, the guards were first a soldier who admired the God of War that destroyed many of the empire's enemies and didn't hesitate to kneel before him.
Then, a deep chuckle sounded inside the carriage.
"Master… should you really co today?" Asked Gu Yan who was now wearing a robe for higher-ranked attendant rather than his usual black clothes.
"Why? Are you scared of General Lin?" Qu Xing Xu raised his brow at him as the side of his lips was lifted upward.
"You jest, Master." Gu Yan lightly coughed. But Master… Should you really co and et with General Lin to ask him for his granddaughter's hand for marriage in this weather? Thought Gu Yan.
Never in his life has he ever heard of anyone asking for a young lady's hand in marriage while a storm was happening outside since it could be considered as a bad on and the young lady's parents would ultimately refuse the man and maybe even throw him out.
But his master, Qu Xing Xu didn't care about that.
Rather than a bad on, today's weather was like a ray of hope and light for him. If he let this opportunity pass, who knew if he couldn't snatch away the young lady that caught his attention.
He can't wait for the rain nor the day to pass. He needs to secure her beside him before the news of the Empress's end passed through Lin Xiaofei's ears.
The carriage door flew open and a tall figure clad in exquisite black robes with an impeccable face stepped out of the carriage.
The guards held back their breaths as they stared at the man.
"Greetings! Your Excellency!" The guards outside drew everyone's attention towards them as they shouted.
"Hm." Qu Xing Xu rely humd his response but everyone felt like they were inside a dream as they couldn't believe that the revered Duke and God of War was now standing in front of them.
"Is General Lin inside?" Asked Qu Xing Xu who stepped into the entrance of the gate like it was his own house and no one dared to stop him.
"Yes!" The guards didn't hesitate to answer.
Truth be told, they were supposed to not accept any guest by the orders of Lin Xiaong but they dared not stop Qu Xing Xu as they thought that it would be rude of them to not let him enter.
After all, the Duke has never gone out in the public nor did he appear after he got the Dukedom in his hands. Hence, the masses could only wish for him to appear but it has been several years since they saw him and with today's miracle, the news that Qu Xing Xu, the Duke of Xin has appeared again will spread across the entire empire like fire.
But a question suddenly ca inside their minds. Why did the Duke suddenly appeared in the Lin residence? Was he rely there for a visit? Or was there a reason for him to co out and co here?
Honestly, the guards didn't care about his reasons. For as long as they could see him even for a glimpse or talk to him, they could now die happy and with no regrets.
However, there was one person who wasn't happy with the way the guards were acting.
Idiots! The man you lots are admiring and bowing to like a God is a thief! He's here to steal your young miss and yet, you let him inside your ho without a fight! Thought Gu Yan who wished he could put so senses to this star-chasing dogs that were chard by his master.
Gu Yan shook his head in pity and frustration when he heard his master's voice in front of him, "Gu Yan, what are you thinking?"
"N-nothing, master." Gu Yan muttered and shut his mouth in fear that his master will find out his thoughts and send him to the underground basent. "Should I bring over the chests inside as well, master?"
The chests that Gu Yan was talking about was none other than the betrothal gifts that Qu Xing Xu brought with him inside the several other carriages outside. Supposedly, the betrothal gifts should be brought over when the engagent was finalized but Qu Xing Xu was a man who doesn't follow the rules or laws nor the procedures that one should do when marrying soone.
"What do you think?" Asked Qu Xing Xu with a smile on his lips, "Should I throw the chests in the ocean then?"
Gu Yan wanted to cry. I was only asking master!
While there was sothing happening in the front entrance of the Lin residence, Lin Xiaofei who was inside her courtyard couldn't sleep.
After her discussion with a certain shaless man, she sohow couldn't stop sighing. What exactly possessed her to let that man do whatever he wanted?
Then, another thought entered her mind…
Should I kill him?
A book was in her hand and she dazedly stared at it. She was feeling jittery and caused her to lose her sleep.
On the side, Bai Lu poured her young miss a tea to relax her nerves but she couldn't help but also feel anxious as she said, "Young miss… I'm sorry for disturbing you but… the book you're reading is upside down."
