'Knock… knock."
The knock ca late afternoon, disturbing the silence that was already established inside the room. A man kneeling in the middle of the room woke up from his daze and quickly look up to see who had co for him. He wished it were his n or his father who ca looking for him after finding that he was being detained by Qu Xing Xu, and punish the barbarous duke. Still, a lingering feeling that he would soon et the sa duke whom he wished would die before his eyes coming to his room just to make fun of him.
And God gave him the answer as soon as the door was pushed forward.. The loud creaking noise that ca from the hinges of the door accompanied the last person he wanted to see. Qu Xing Xu's handso face appeared to be his least favorite in all his life.
As a prince, Yu Fangzhu was used to the glamorous life that a prince should lead. From when he was born to the present ti of his years, from his clothes, food, and every necessities he needed, everything was handed to him on a golden platter. Even the servants under him was all hand-picked by his mother which was done by him later after Concubine Min died.
Everything should be revolving around him. Everyone should be just right in his palms for him to toy with.
Yet, like a sand castle surged by the strong waves of the seawater, crushing and pressuring it to topple it down slowly and flattening it before it could slowly celebrate the glory and joy of building it.
"Ah… if it isn't my dearest duke coming to visit my humble abode." Yu Fangzhu laughed bitterly, the rough and bristly texture of the rope around his wrists chafed due to the friction he made by moving around, and trying to untie the rope that tied his wrists and ankles together behind his back.
Qu Xing Xu swept his eyes towards him as he pushed his body through the door. A smile tugged on his lips as he give a response to the prince's sarcasm, "But of course, your highness. How could I ever miss the mont when you'll finally get used to living to your new ho?"
Yu Fangzhu bared his teeth like a dog about to rush forward and bite the thing that scared him the most. His eyes flickered between the dagger tied on the man's waistband and towards his neck, wishing he could slice the vein and watch the blood flow from that neck.
"By the way… I have invited soone with ."
Yu Fangzhu's gaze then landed on the figure of a woman wrapped in a blue brocade that fitted her slim body behind Qu Xing Xu. The woman looked extrely beautiful even when she was surrounded by things that could make a lady faint from shock and fear, and unlike ordinary ladies, she entered the room filled with gri and filth and blood with a nonchalant look on her eyes.
"Your highness, the crown prince," Qu Xing Xu pointed the tips of his fingers with his palm wide at Yu Fangzhu, and whipped it to point at the woman, "et the youngest Duchess of Xin and my wife, Lin Xiaofei."
With almost half of her body inside the room, Lin Xiaofei only needed half a minute to observe the room she was led to enter. The live shadows beneath them moved and elongated as the golden light coming from the two torches attached to either sides of the walls. Following the shadows, she saw the floor was wet. There was no way rain could get in and cause this.
The most probable cause of the wet floor was sothing that goes along with agonies and blood and gore of those who stayed in that room. The four walls of the room looked grey and extrely plain but there was a strange looking wall on the left side of the room with a red curtain hanging from the ceiling to the floor, covering the entirety of that side of the room.
Lin Xiaofei gripped her skirt and lifted it slightly. The thought of having the wet floor touch her clothes made her feel unsettled. Just when she was debating whether to go fully inside the room, she heard Qu Xing Xu announcing her new title and calling out her na as if he was introducing her to an important guest.
Upon seeing Lin Xiaofei, Yu Fangzhu's eyes widened. So what he saw last night was real? She really did ca with Qu Xing Xu when he trapped them inside the pit.
"Qu Xing Xu! You're really out of your mind! Letting your wife co here and see what evil things you have done, you think she will appreciate you and stay with you?!" shouted Yu Fangzhu while the gears inside his head worked faster. "Too bad! I know won too well that I can tell that that whore you married will soon run away from you and betray you! She will stab a knife in your chest while whispering sweet nothings beside you
before she kills you!"
Yu Fangzhu noticed too many won who did the things he had just said, and Lin Xiaofei knew it as well. Qu Xing Xu also know about it. But he still wanted to say these in front of them to make them doubt each other.
Anyway, the two were newlyweds and the trust between the two of them were too thin and young. He should be able to manipulate Lin Xiaofei who was being used by Qu Xing Xu and seduce her into freeing him.
No woman would be able to stand normally under these circumstances and with Lin Xiaofei's noble birth, he should be able to make her doubt her husband and try to plan her way out of this marriage.
And as expected, he got the desired reaction from Lin Xiaofei. Yu Fangzhu could see the paleness of her face and the way her eyes shook after he delivered his words. Now, all he needed was to make a decision to leave Qu Xing Xu's side if she was smart, and help him get away from there.
'Clank!'
The sound of sothing tallic hitting the floor filled the room and interrupted his train of thoughts. Yu Fangzhu, who was already rejoicing and waiting for his victory to play before his eyes, was soon stumped out of words when he turned his head to the direction of the sound and found Qu Xing Xu standing before the curtained wall that had the left-side wall fully revealed.
