They all witnessed his growth over the past years and knew just how hard his path to this greatness was. Several enemies tried to defeat him, bring him down, and kill him, but no one succeeded in making him surrender completely at their rcy. Instead, his enemies fell down one by one with a knife piercing through their chests.
But there were tis when one can experience their first ti. And this young duke finally surrendered to one woman.
"Apologies for my late entrance." She bent her knees and bowed slightly towards the Qu elders, not knowing what was going through their heads, before saying, "His Grace especially told not to co and greet you. He even ntioned that I shouldn't et with any of you in the future." She raised her eyes and batted them towards the old n. "But of course… I did not agree to him and was only held up by him hence, my lateness in coming here."
The main hall was silent for a second before a group of rowdy old n started to curse at Qu Xing Xu. The compassionate and pity in their eyes were now replaced with ruthlessness..
"You rotten child!"
"Stinky brat!"
"I dare you force your wife not to et with us!" Elder Mo pointed his finger at the duke. "Last ti, you drove us away and now, you want to put a wedge between the little girl and us? You ungrateful lad!"
Lin Xiaofei clapped inside her heart. She really applauded the ability of these old n. She wanted to push the bla on her husband, and these old n took the chance to complain and curse at him.
"I knew this man was no good at all." Another old man said. "I should have just introduced my son to you, little girl."
"Nay! My youngest son is the best! He's a general already and a proper gentleman. I'm sure if little girl t him, she'll fall in love with him at first sight." Another said.
"Fools! My grandson is the most outstanding one!" Elder Gao slapped the table across him and added on, "He is the commander of a thousand-man army and young ladies even broke our stairs just to propose to him!"
The rivalry among the elders of the Qu family was getting more intense. They all continued to boast and praise their sons, who was now being dragged to the troubled waters. Just when their showdown was going to turn into a brawl and before Lin Xiaofei could regret her actions of making them scold her husband in her stead, a low and ice-laced voice rumbled inside the main hall.
"Are you all done, old croaks?" Qu Xing Xu finally spoke up amidst the chaos. One elder was about to speak against him, but one glance from the young duke was enough to shut him up, and in an instant, the main hall was struck with silence. "If not, I can arrange a few burial grounds for all of you so you can stay quiet for a very long ti."
The silence that entered the main hall was almost deafening. One could even hear the slightest sound of soone farting amongst the seated guests. No one dared to move nor cover their nose from the sickening sll from that poisonous scent as they all stared at the young duke whose lips were lifted.
"Well? Cat got your tongues?" He said as he thought that these old n were too much. They even dared to say that they want to beco a matchmaker between his wife and their sons. Just what kind of tumor lived inside their heads to not think wisely?
The sons of these old geezers were insignificant fools before his might, the mightiest God of War who was feared in the battlefield by many. They dare compare him to these children who don't even want to look at him straight in the eyes?
Ha! Qu Xing Xu laughed inwardly.
Lin Xiaofei glanced at the elderly n who looked like they swallowed needles for breakfast. They were sweating under their clothes and looked elsewhere while her husband were giving them his complete attention. He seed quite mad with his eyes oozing murder. Any pitiful soul who coulnd't take his stare would definitely tremble and fall on their butts.
Her eys flickered to her husband. Looking as handso as the first ti she t him. He has a dark night-colored eyes, long raven hair that reached past his shoulders to his mid-waist, and a full lips perfect for kissing. He wore a dark blue robe with silver intricate patterns that was carefully spilled on the edges of his robe to give off an elegant style.
Up until now, Lin Xiaofei thought that she married an extraordinary man, it may be because they had the sa goals and wnted to vcollaborate with each other thus they married each other, but it was not the case after realizing what they really felt for each other after spending a long ti with each other.
Not only that. She finally realized how lucky she was by marrying Qu Xing Xu. The man was extrely gorgeous in a masculine way. No doubt that many won would go after him wherever he went.
Sighing, Lin Xiaofei decided that it was not ti for Qu Xing Xu to overwhelm the poor elderly m. She had no idea why he suddenly got angry at them, probably because they were complaining and cursing at him, but she didn't think that it was worth for the Qu elders to be treated this way.
Besides, she was worried that Qu Xing Xu would strain their relationship and lose them on his side. These was only her corncerns of course. Lin Xiaofei hadn't realized that to her husband, it did not matter if he lost their favors and went against him.
They already did that once and tasted his wrath, before he proved to them that no one in this land could fight him off and make him surrender.
That fact was quite clear to the Qu elders as well since they didn't want him as their enemy anymore. The feud in the Qu residence already ended a long ti ago and they did not want to experience that once again.
