However, Yu Xuan Li's arrogance wouldn't let him back down without gaining anything. His sister is now bedridden because of the poison coursing through her body and he can't possibly waste any more ti.
On one side was facing against the Qu residence if the girl before him was indeed betrothed to the duke. And on the other hand, his sister was now lying on her bed awaiting her doom.

There was only a few steps in between the two of them. Lin Xiaofei stood on her ground and didn't show any weakness on her face and smiled wickedly.
"Your highness is indeed powerful." She said with an ambiguous tone before stepping aside to not get into any physical contact with him. Just thinking of him touching the hem of her clothes seed to disgust her trendously.
Yu Xuan Li was very pleased with her actions and thought that she has finally surrendered. He proudly stepped into the courtyard.
But before he could get past the gate of the courtyard, Yu Xuan Li was stopped by a young guard who looked quite unkempt. Despite the dirt stains in his clothes, it didn't erase the magnificent aura of a youth that aims to be a hero in the battlefield.
Narrowing his eyes, the young lad almost collided with the prince as he blocked the way.
"What are you doing? Blocking this prince's way?" Yu Xuan Li scolded. This was the second ti he was being interrupted by soone. If it were inside the palace, he would've cut off their legs already!
However, the young lad didn't move as his eyes were looking at sothing behind the prince.
With the strangeness of the young lad, Yu Xuan Li slowly turned his head behind him to see what was so great to look at behind. But instead of seeing anything at all, he found that aside from the people he brought with him, there was nothing special to take notice of.
Being played with by the youth, Yu Xuan Li felt his forehead popping as his patience was almost running out.
He raised his hand to push the youth away and as soon as his hand touched the youth's chest, he felt himself straining hard to push forward. The youth was still standing on his ground nonchalantly as if nothing was worth to capture his attention.
Like a tree with its roots buried deep in the ground, the youth looked expressionless if only his eyes didn't twinkled in mischief and darted towards Lin Xiaofei.
'Young Miss! Am I going great?'
As if she could hear him saying this through his eyes, Lin Xiaofei almost laughed out loud at Shen Mo.
Who said his guard learned the discipline unique to every Lin family soldier? This young soldier was certainly starting to think like his mistress!
Lin Xiaofei sighed and shook her head slightly as if to tell him to stop doing this and go back to gather more gold.
Shen Mo, the young guard who finally found his favorite hobby through bagging gold in the Unmarked land, was definitely thrilled at the idea once again and stepped back before walking to the side to ignore the other people in front of him.
And because of hus actions, Yu Xuan Li, the man who wanted to have a show of strength by pushing Shen Mo, was suddenly pulled by the force his used to push himself forward.
He tripped on his feet and landed on the ground with his face first.

The deadly silence that ca after this embarrassing scene choked the onlookers. They wanted to laugh but for the sake of not offending the royals, they but their lips to prevent themselves from laughing too hard.

But amidst the silence, the soft sound of a chuckle, barely heard and sounded like it ca from the wind was a stark contrast to the silence that everyone else hs given for Yu Xuan Li's sake of saving face.
Everyone's eyes landed on the red robed lady. Her hair was swaying behind her nd her eyes were slightly slanted as she smiled sweetly as if she had seen sothing so admirably hilarious. But they all knew that her eyes were had so tint of mockery in it.
"You! Don't laugh at his highness!" The eunuch recovered from his previous reaction and quickly tried to help the prince.
The other attendants were also doing the sa thing but because they were previously caught off guard by this turn of events, they did their jobs ssily and without elegance. They even managed to push the prince's face back to the ground after lifting him up.
Lin Feng gritted his teeth and went to his niece's side. He was trying so hard not to laugh at the prince and diverted his attention to her instead, "Xiaofei, don't laugh too hard. Don't ruin your image."
He was half saying this words to her for her sake. But this words sounded like a needle pricking their ears when others heard it.
Lin Xiaofei blinked her eyes and finally composed herself. She shook her head and smilingly said to him, "Uncle, I'm not laughing. I'm only shocked that the his highness was so eager to et grandfather that he would actually try try to swim his way in. Forgive your highness for doubting your sincere intentions."
Her words were like the finishing touches on a perfect dish. No one could say anything to her as they were too horrified and shocked by what she said. Besides, what sincere intentions does the prince have?
Everyone knew that he ca here carrying trouble in his wake!
While everyone was still trying to recover from her words, Lin Xiaofei didn't stop as she continued, "If you only did this the first mont you ca here, I wouldn't have blocked your way and even let you ride a palanquin inside."
