Lin Xiaofei could hear her heart drumming thunderously inside her. No matter if she was the real Lin Xiaofei or not, the emotions she invested towards Lin Xiaong was nonetheless sincere and true.
Without knowing it, she sohow treated him like her real family and feared for his safety.
"What exactly happened?"
Attendant He intended to wait for others to co and for them to arrive at the main courtyard before he could say anything. But with how ruthless and cold her eyes were looking at him, he couldn't help but feel frightened and opened his mouth to tell her what really happened.
"This slave only knows that when the two princes left, Master stayed inside his study of half an hour. He then ordered to get him so tea to drink while he continued to check the matters of the residence." He paused when they reached a corner just right in front of the main courtyard where Lin Xiaong resided. "I naturally obeyed his order and told a servant to get Master a pot of tea but when it was served to him, he suddenly spat a mouthful of blood."
Lin Xiaofei frowned, "Did you kill the servant who served the tea?"
Attendant He shook his head and said, "I thought that we should wait for Master Lin Feng before we make any kind of decision. Besides, if we killed the servant on the spot, it would only make the real culprit escape with a smile."
"Good." Lin Xiaofei took her eyes off him and continued to walk faster towards her grandfather's courtyard. However, during the whole ti she stared at him, Attendant He's back was now soaked in his sweat.
When Lin Xiaofei stepped onto the main courtyard, the sll of dicinal herbs imdiately entered her nose. There were several servants and guards inside the room. Each of them watched her as she approached the bed where Lin Xiaong was lying.
"Where's the doctor?" Lin Xiaofei asked attendant He.
"The family doctor is on his way. Even after hearing him say that, Lin Xiaofei didn't feel better as she kneeled in front of the bed.
Lin Xiaong was looking pale in front of her with his eyes closed. He was breathing but one would instantly know the difference between how a healthy person would breathe and a person who wasn't.
The rise and falls of his chest were deliberately slow and heavy, making her feel torn apart just by watching this. Lin Xiaofei reached for his hand and took hold of it before she closed her eyes to pray for his fast recovery.
Watching her, the servants couldn't stop wiping their tears that were threatening to fall. No one other than them knows how much Lin Xiaong loved Lin Xiaofei than them. They watched the old man shower her love with or without her presence around.
In the past, they loathed the spoiled and arrogant young lady who was ungrateful for what Lin Xiaong sacrificed for her sake.
However, after witnessing these past months that Lin Xiaofei started to seek Lin Xiaong on her own volition and the scene that was before them at that mont, they no longer loathe her and wished that the old master would wake up and wipe away her tears.
"My lady, the doctor is here." Attendant He announced the doctor's arrival and stepped aside.
As soon as the doctor entered the room, Lin Xiaofei stepped away from the bed and stood up. She then said, "Aside from the doctor and Attendant He, everyone should leave."
The servants and guard did as she ordered them to do but before they could co out of the room, they heard her speak again, "All of you should know that if a single word about what happened here sohow got outside, just be reminded that I will personally punish that person that you would wish you were dead instead."
"But shouldn't we inform the entire Lin family?" Attendant He asked her. The entire Lin family should be inford of what happened to their master as they all have the right to know.
However, Lin Xiaofei shook her head and coldly stared at him, making attendant He shut his mouth and no longer pursue the matter.
"Only tell my first uncle and let it be heard by him alone." Among the Lin family mbers, only Lin Feng was quite capable. He might not be on her side but he was still thinking about the Lin family and treats Lin Xiaong better than Lin Sang.
Even blood couldn't stop the force of greed and foolishness. Hence, she didn't consider letting Lin Sang and the others know about what happened to Lin Xiaong because he already knew the result.
Once Lin Sang and any greedy person heard of this matter, they would all rush forward to claim the title from Lin Xiaong and assu his position. And even if Lin Feng was the heir, his brother and other relatives would beco wolves who would quickly ravage everything around them just to win.
She swept her eyes towards them, one by one, and rembered each of their faces before it landed on one of the guards, "As for the servant who served the tea, let that person co in. I'd like to et that person and pay him back for what they did to my grandfather."
Everyone shivered under her gaze and vigorously nodded their heads. They swore to not tell a word and left with the feeling of a dagger pointed at their hearts.
They suddenly felt that whoever decided to go behind their young lady, he or she would suffer a death like no other. They felt a tiny bit of pith towards the servant who served the tea but didn't feel an ounce of an urge to help that servant either. Who told them to poison their old master anyway? Such ungrateful bastards!
"I thank Doctor Fang for coming here. Please hurry and check on my grandfather's condition." Lin Xiaofei briefly greeted him before letting the old doctor see what's wrong with her grandfather.
The old doctor stared at her profoundly after her display of authority before he hurriedly sat on the side of the bed to see what he could do to help Lin Xiaong's condition better.
