"What's happening here? Why are the elders looking bitter?" A young lady stood on one side as she held the hand of an older woman.
"Hmph! The Duke might have brought ho a woman of unknown origin, that's why they're acting like that!" Bai Feng Jiu indignantly said as she glared at the carriage parked in the entrance of the Qu residence.
Bai Feng Jiu was the mistress of the young Duke's father. She holds a significant amount of power in the Qu residence as she was the only woman who had a relationship with the young Duke's father. The Duke of Xin also didn't treat her badly and was considerate of her as he let her do as she wanted.
"Sister Feng Jiu, please don't say that. What if soone heard you?" The young lady beside Bai Feng Jiu said as she looked around as if she was scared of being heard.
Staring at the young lady beside her, Bai Feng Jiu curled her lips, "What are you saying, little sister? I am the mistress of this house. Even if soone were to hear . What can they do?"
She had been living inside the Qu residence and no one dared to defy her.. It was only the Duke that she cannot order around. If only Qu Xing Xu ca out of her womb, she wouldn't have to worry being thrown back to her maiden family!
Looking at the elders who had a dark look on their faces, Bai Feng Jiu moved her head to stare at her sister, Bai Jia Li.
"Li'er, what's wrong with you? You've been living under the sa roof with Qu Xing Xu and yet, is there still no progress with your relationship with him? Can't you at least try to lessen my worries?" Bai Feng Jiu told her sister.
Bai Jia Li blushed and bit her lips, acting demurely like an innocent young lady, "Elder Sister, don't worry. Brother Qu Xing Xu and I have been talking with each other. I'm sure he will see my efforts."
It has been four years since the ti she had arrived in the Qu residence to help and support her older sister. During those years, Bai Jia Li has been quite fascinated with the luxurious life that her elder sister has been living as the mistress of the Duke's father.
Initially, she didn't like this sister of hers as she looked down at Bai Feng Jiu for being a re mistress to a man and mocked her in her mind for not getting the title as the Duchess from the legal wife. However, after the Duke's parents died, Bai Feng Jiu was one of the people who benefited from the deaths of the parents of the current Duke.
Bai Jia Li's stay in the Qu residence shouldn't have been too long but she fell for the handso face of Qu Xing Xu and ended up begging her parents and elder sister to allow her stay longer in the Qu residence. She wanted to befriend Qu Xing Xu and seduce him so she could take the title of the Duchess of Xin.
Of course, her parents and sister were happy for her decision that they let her move inside the Qu residence in hopes that Qu Xing Xu would take notice of her.
Fortunately, the young Duke didn't say anything when she moved and that beca a good sign to the Bai family.
"Tsk! What efforts? It's been four years since you stayed here and still nothing!" Bai Feng Jiu said in frustration. "Look! The Duke even found himself a bride! What should we do if she becos the Duchess?"
Bai Jia Li pursed her lips as her sister was right. Her efforts weren't too little as she tried her best to make Qu Xing Xu fall for her. And yet, her efforts seed to not reach the man as he found himself a bride even when Bai Jia Li was just beside him.
The news that Qu Xing Xu proposed to soone had just reached their ears last night and even then, they didn't get to know what family did the lady co from.
The only thing they knew was that she will now live inside the Qu residence as per Qu Xing Xu's wish.
Tears started to well up her eyes but Bai Jia Li forced it back down. She can't give up now!
"Don't worry, sister." She told her, "Even if brother Qu Xing Xu had taken her to the Qu residence, we can just make her go back to where she ca from!"
Upon hearing that from her little sister, Bai Feng Jiu sinisterly smiled. " Let us go where they are now. Let us see what this young lady has that you don't. I'm sure with our beautiful genes, she must have used a trick to tie the Qu Xing Xu."
The two females walked towards where everyone was standing. They couldn't wait to tear apart the young lady that Qu Xing Xu brought back to the Qu residence and send her back to where she ca from so they could get what they want.
As they waited for a minute with the others, Bai Feng Jiu felt annoyed being made to wait. "Why is Qu Xing Xu still not coming out? Did sothing bad happen?" She asked one of the elders standing near her.
Glancing at the woman who decided to stand next to him, Elder Mo Ting had a disdainful look in his face for a second before it disappeared. "Lady Bai, you're here?" He asked like it was rude for her to co to this place where the others are.
Ignorant to the disdainful look that Mo Ting showed on his face, Bai Feng Jiu lightly laughed, "Of course, I am. Qu Xing Xu is my husband's son. I should also welco his little bride, right?"
Elder Mo Ting wanted to roll his eyes at her but controlled his expression as he forced a smile on his lips. "Hahaha… that's right."
