They didn’t get to discuss at the office.

Mrs. Devereux had called, expressing her co cern to see Adrian and they had rushed ho quiet quickly.

"Mother will be here in a few minutes. I’ll be right out," Alexander kissed Adrian’s forehead as he sat on the bed and walked into the bathroom.

The sound of the shower running in the ensuite bathroom was a rhythmic, cold counterpoint to the raging heat in Adrian’s chest. Alexander was cleansing himself of the drug, but Adrian was left to face the full, terrifying clarity of his own truth: he loved the man who had bought him, bullied him, and now desperately needed him.

He knew he couldn’t walk away now, not just because of the contract, but because his own heart was demanding that he stay. But he also knew that love, with Alexander, had to be structured with ironclad rules to protect his sanity and his dignity.

Adrian sat up, pulling a pillow against his chest, and began to formulate the new terms of their life together—a contract written in desire and self-preservation.

The shower cut off. Adrian tensed, knowing his ti for strategic thought was over.

Alexander erged minutes later, a towel wrapped low around his waist. His hair was slicked back, his skin still damp and flushed from the cold water. The feverish edge was gone, replaced by a devastatingly potent mixture of vulnerability and focused resolve. He was still physically magnificent, but the primal hunger in his eyes was now tempered by a raw, naked need.

He walked over to the armchair, pulled on a fresh pair of slacks, and sat down opposite Adrian, his gaze unwavering.

"I’m clean," Alexander stated, his voice low and steady. "And I’m listening. The contract, Adrian. Tell how it works from now on."

Adrian took a deep breath, eting Alexander’s eyes. He didn’t use the ’Boss’ title.

"It works on mutual respect, Alexander. Not just professional, but personal," Adrian began, laying out his conditions one by one.

"Financial Independence: You will continue to pay my salary, and you will honor the promise to clear the debt. But the marriage contract shall terminated imdiately after the remaining six months. I will remain your secretary for the agreed ti, and the pretense of our engagent must be toned down. You cant keep asking to sit on your lap just becauseyiu want to make it believable, or spite Sebastian." He drew on a soft breath, biting his lip.

"Then... physical Space: I will continue to sleep in my forr room, but I require the installation of a separate, internal lock on the door. It will not be used to keep you out, but to ensure that I can retreat if I feel physically or emotionally overwheld, and that you respect that boundary. You will not ask for the key, and you will not tamper with the lock." Adrian stated firmly.

Alexander didn’t speak, he wanted patiently for Adrian to finish.

Adrian scratched his fingers over his knees, suddenly feeling nervous. He thought hus rules were too much and too rigid. But he had tp say them, fir his own sanity.

"Professional Boundaries: In the office, you will refer to as ’Mr. Cole,’ and you will not touch unless absolutely necessary for a professional briefing. We are colleagues, not lovers, in public. This is for my dignity and your image."

Alexander nodded slowly, absorbing the terms. The request for a separate lock was a knife to his possessive heart, but he understood the necessity.

Adrian’s voice softened slightly, a tremor of desire entering his tone as he approached the most sensitive subject.

He cleared his throat softly, "Consent Protocol... The ’Stop’ rule you proposed is accepted and absolute. Any intimacy must be initiated or mutually agreed upon. However," Adrian paused, looking at the intense hunger in Alexander’s eyes, "since the reason for my reservation is fear of your control, I need a further safeguard."

He glanced at Alexander, "Any sexual intimacy we have, while I am still your employee, must be initiated by first. You will not ask, you will not pressure, and you will only respond when I approach you. It is the only way I can reconcile my feelings with the power imbalance. I need to know I am choosing you, not submitting to you. No more gas. You will not resort to cruelty, emotional manipulation, or guilt trips to keep close. If you are angry or jealous, you will use your words, not your actions."

Alexander remained silent for a long mont. Adrian was asking him to dismantle his entire psychological frawork—to suppress his nature, his need for control, and his rampant jealousy—all while sharing a bed with the man he was desperate to claim.

Finally, Alexander pushed his damp hair back and gave a single, firm nod.

"I agree to all terms, Adrian," Alexander stated, his voice a low, gravelly commitnt. "Especially the lock and the initiation protocol. You need to know you are free to choose, even if it drives insane. The marriage contract will be dissolved imdiately after six months."

He rose and walked over to the bed, sitting beside Adrian, but maintaining the required distance.

"But I have one counter-demand, Adrian," Alexander said, his eyes darkening with sudden intensity. "You are not allowed to use these terms as a weapon. You cannot use my adherence to the ’no touch’ rule to punish , or to seek out Sebastian to provoke a reaction. You are here, in my house, because you just admitted you love . You will not intentionally seek out a rival. That is the one thing I will not tolerate."

Adrian felt a flicker of heat—he had planned exactly that, using Sebastian as a control chanism. Alexander had seen through him again.

"Agreed," Adrian conceded, his voice barely a whisper. "No more gas with Sebastian."

Alexander smiled, a small, dangerous curve of his lips. He reached out, not to touch Adrian, but to gently push the covers over his legs.

"Get so rest, Adrian. I will arrange for the lock installation first thing tomorrow, and I will be sleeping on the couch tonight, regardless of the terms. I need to honor your desire for space after today."

Alexander stood up, grabbed his shirt, and headed for the door, pausing with his hand on the handle.

"Welco ho, Adrian," Alexander said, his voice husky with a complex mixture of possessive triumph and tender longing.

He left the room, leaving Adrian alone on the massive bed. Adrian finally allowed himself to fully relax, the tension draining out of him. He was safe, free, and now, finally, ready to acknowledge that he was in a relationship defined by his own rules—a love built on the ruins of a devastating contract.

Adrian closed his eyes, a small, weary smile touching his lips. He was in Alexander Devereux’s thrall, yes, but for the first ti, he felt truly in control of his own fate.

In the living room, Alexander was sitting on the couch when Angelica walked up to him.

"Sir," She called quietly.

"What is it, Angelica? Have you prepared the dish for my mother?" He questioned.

Angelica nodded, "Yes, sir. I— I have sothing I’d like to say to you." She spoke very reluctantly.

Alexander sighed, he knew this would happen after the scattered lube incident the previous day.

"What do you have to say, Angelica?" He asked calmly.

Angelica glanced toward Alexander’s room before she slowly stepped forward.

"Sir, don’t you think it’s ti to tell your mother the truth? I know it’s none of my business, but, I think a big problem is going to co out of it if you keep hiding Adrienne’s true identity –"

"Thank you, Angelica. And this would be the last ti you speak about my personal life. Just nake sure the dishes are ready." Alewaved dismissively.

Angelica sighed, nodding her head, "Yes, sir."slowly, she retraced her steps and waled back into the kitchen.

Alexander stared at the wall for a long ti, Angelica’s warning ringing in his head.

What coukd possibly go wrong now?

He already had Adrian, what more found possibly go wrong?

Adrian could never jeopardise their marriage —contract marriage. He had nothing to fain if he did it.

Alexander waved the thought away, nothing coukd go wrong from here, he finally won Adrian’s affection even though it ca with conditions, that was what he’ll focus on, dismantling those conditions until Adrian wanted him with no rules and no contracts between them.

For now, he’d abide by Adrian’s rules and conditions, hoping to discard them in the nearest future.

Suddenly, he saw Adrian walking out of the hallway, looking immaculate in that white short and shorts.

He looked like an angel, and to Alexander, Adrian was his angel.

"Hi, Baby. I asked you to stay in bed," Alexander was on his feet, moving toward Adrian.

Adrian folded his arms, "I do what I want, rember?" He smirked.

Alexander raised his hands in surrender as he stopped in front of Adrian, "sorry, love. Old habits. Can I kiss—"

The door skid open behind them abd in walked Mrs. Devereux, Agatha, and Sebastian.

Adrian subtly stepped back from Alexander, putting a good distance between them as their guests approached.
