When eting the man who broke your heart and forced you to run away with your babies inside your womb again, what would you do?

This was a question she wanted an answer as soon as possible. Because this wasn’t what she expected.

Kai ntioned Landon earlier. But she assud he had already left since Kai was heading out of the hotel.

So, then, why was Landon here?

Lucy couldn’t tell if this was her imagination playing in front of her because she was thinking of him.

But she knew if this was all real, she’d be in big trouble.

Landon had been obsessively looking for her. And now that she was in front of him, she didn’t know what he would do.

Lucy didn’t notice her body was tense. Ti seed to still between the two of them.

And all the mories they shared and spent together poured out like glass shards scattered all over the space.

She wanted to move. Maybe she could run and disappear like she did at the café, but sothing was happening to her body. It felt so heavy, like lead was injected into her legs, heavy and unmoving.

Move!

Move and run, Lucy!

Her subconscious scread for her to run. Yet she resisted the urge.

No, she can’t do it.

If she ran now, it’d beco a habit. And Lucy didn’t want to feel the sa instinct of fleeing whenever she saw him.

She ca back to make everybody pay for what they did to her, not run and hide when she saw them.

She can’t let Landon keep on bothering her like this.

So, Lucy stayed on her ground, watching what he’d do or say. She didn’t expect an apology or a remorseful speech. Things were already beyond that. There was no saving the two of them or what had happened in the past.

Lucy waited and stared back at him. The elevator door was about to close and sohow, there was relief and sadness as the space between them slowly vanished.

This was where they ended.

Bam!

Suddenly, Landon placed his hand between the closing tal doors, his eyes intensely focused on her.

The elevator opened again, and Landon stepped out. He took each step with deep and resolute steps.

He never took his eyes off her. They were so intense that they were rimd with redness and slightly unfocused.

"Hey, are you getting on or not?" a middle-aged man inside the elevator called out to her.

Lucy turned her attention to him and shook her head. "No.

She didn’t want to stay in the sa enclosed space with Landon.

"And what about you? If you’re getting off, hurry up already!" he was now speaking to Landon. But Landon seed to not hear him.

His feet were unsteady, and he swayed while he walked. It took so ti for him to get out of the elevator.

When he was completely out, Landon walked toward her. Or at least, tried to.

He took a step forward, but his footing failed him, his body falling backward. Lucy saw it happen before he did—the way he started to descend with his back facing the floor and his hand reached forward to find support.

Without thinking, Lucy lunged forward, catching him before he could completely fall into the elevator.

She didn’t even know or understand why she did that. Before her mind could comprehend what just had happened, Lucy had already steadied Landon out of the elevator.

Why? Why can’t I just ignore him? It would’ve been better if he fell to the floor. That would’ve given her ti to escape and perhaps he’d lose his consciousness and forget ever eting her.

But it all happened so fast. Lucy failed to resist her body from moving and rushing forward to save him.

After all these years, her body still rembered and missed him.

She hated it. But there was nothing she could do about it.

The problem was in her hands. She had to find a solution to finish all of this now.

Or you can run. He seed drunk. You can leave him here. She thought it made sense.

Lucy let him go.

She’ll treat tonight as a dream or a nightmare in the making. It was an accidental eting, where he might not even rember seeing her.

Yet, her foot stayed on the ground.

Willing herself to move, Lucy took a step backward. Just then, a hand gripped her arm, pulling her down to bend slightly.

In this position, her face was very close to Landon, who lifted his head to take a close look at her.

"You’re real, right?" he said, barely above a whisper. "You’re not a fragnt of my imagination. Not a hallucination ant to tornt , right?"

Lucy frowned and glared at him, anger rising from her chest as she didn’t expect him to say this to her. Was she a tornt to him, then?

She wanted him to release her. It was her fault for hesitating and letting him get the best of her. Even after all these years, Landon knew how to break down all her walls.

"No, you can’t be her," Landon pushed her unexpectedly. "Lucy is another country. That’s right, she should be sowhere far, far away from ."

Lucy held her breath. She hadn’t expected him to push her away, sending her stumbling backward a few steps from him.

Landon continued to mumble. "I was the one who made her go away. It’s all my fault. I couldn’t stop her. Fuck, I didn’t even see her leave."

He crumpled down on the floor, gathering his limbs like a baby. He was drunk and a ss.

Lucy had never seen him like this, so distraught and remorseful. This wasn’t how he should be. Not like this.

He was a man with great influence and power. Landon stood taller than anyone else, wealthier and more powerful. His handso appearance was always the talk of the town, the girls would admire him openly and secretly, and Yvonne didn’t deny liking him because of his face.

Yet, now, Landon didn’t look like he had been in the past. He was still the sa, gorgeously handso, but there was an edge to his appearance. More rugged and hard and raw. His eyes were deep and emptiness filled them.

Lucy couldn’t say a word.

She stood there, watching this new version of him in silence while hearing her own beating heart banging against her chest.
