"Shouldn’t you be at the reading for Angel’s Revenge?"

Confusion instantly appeared on gan and Pixy’s faces, staring at the sharpness beneath that horrendous makeup on Lola’s.

"Reading?" gan scoffed weakly. "What do you an by that?"

"Lola, are you making fun of us?" Pixy frowned. "If you’re giving us hope just to humiliate us, no thank you."

"Oh..." Lola rocked her head before she shrugged. "Okay, then."

Having said that, Lola looked away and resud her steps. But after only taking a few steps and raising a hand for the incoming taxi, she turned to them.

"I wonder what made you think I would waste my ti going here... just for laughs." She reached out for the backseat door of the taxi.

"Huh?" Both ladies knitted their brows.

"What is it for ?" she added, with an arched brow. "I don’t even know you. So, why would I hate you?"

"Oh, well." Lola shrugged indifferently and added, "If you change your mind, you know where to contact . You still have ti, though not plenty."

Having said that, Lola jumped in the cab, and it quickly sped away. gan and Pixy watched the cab leave, confusion still plastered on their faces.

"What did she an by that?" Pixy blurted out under her breath, eyes on the taxi’s rear. "Is she saying we got in the final cut for Angel’s Revenge?"

gan didn’t answer and just kept staring, her brows drawing close together. After a second, she threw whatever idea she had to the back of her head and turned to Pixy.

"Let’s not think about her," gan shook her head. "Just like what lissa said, Lola always looks for a way to stir trouble. She probably ca by just to mock us... or give us false hope."

"Mhm." Pixy nodded, and just like that, the two of them resud walking.

Silence quickly fell on their shoulders, but this ti, they were thinking of sothing else. gan slowly slid her eyes to Pixy, only to sigh quietly.

"Don’t think much about what she said," gan said, snapping Pixy out of her thoughts. "Let’s not humiliate ourselves further."

Conflict flickered in Pixy’s eyes as she pursed her lips. "g, I’m just thinking about what she said. What would she get by wasting her ti coming here?"

Was Lola that sick in the head to go out of her way just to see their situation? A part of Pixy doubted that. There was nothing Lola would gain from coming here except entertainnt, but she didn’t even laugh at them or idle just to see their misery.

"Pixy, don’t let that woman stir your heart," gan clicked her tongue. "We are lissa’s friends. So, she’ll naturally hate us just because we protected lissa."

"But are we really lissa’s friends?"

"What?"

Pixy bit her lips as she stopped in her tracks. "g, lissa is our friend, but are we her friends?"

"What are you talking about —"

"lissa’s kind to us, and I’m not saying she has to comfort us," Pixy expressed her heart. "But she knew how Manager Kang had been treating us. Yet, even when she promised to ask Manager Kang about the results, she didn’t. Besides, Cedrick made it."

"Because it’s already obvious we didn’t get in," gan rolled her eyes. "Pixy, I know it’s tough for ‌both of us. But don’t let Lola Young get to your head. There’s nothing good in associating ourselves with her."

"But unlike us, who don’t have a reputation, Cedrick’s reputation is rock bottom. Yet, he made it to the cut."

"Pixy."

Pixy pursed her lips, looking into gan’s eyes. After a second, she nodded and forced a smile.

"You’re right. I’m just being silly."

With that, the two continued on their way before separating ways for their day jobs. After all, without any projects, the two of them needed other jobs to get by and sustain themselves. However, even though gan told Pixy not to think much about it, it also played in her head.

Lola’s words kept echoing in her head repeatedly, and before she knew it, she was already at the agency instead of her day job.

gan blinked, the life in her eyes returning as realization dawned on her.

"What am I even doing here?" she asked herself in surprise, staring at Manager Kang’s office door. But just as she took a step back and turned, she paused and looked around. There weren’t any people idling or looking.

And gan, being Manager Kang’s talent, it wouldn’t be surprising to have her here.

"..." she gulped, eyes drifting to the door. "I’ll just check... for Pixy’s peace of mind." — also hers.

They couldn’t let Lola’s play in their heads over and over. Even when they knew Lola might be lying, she just wanted to make sure, to get rid of the possibility and the what-ifs. It was as simple as that. With that thought in mind, gan welcod herself into Manager Kang’s office and went to his desk.

Checking his computer, gan thought of the manager’s password. Fortunately, she had seen it many tis. Hence, she pushed her luck and input the password, hoping he hadn’t changed it. Thankfully, the computer unlocked for her.

"Why do I feel so nervous?" she asked herself, her hand trembling on the mouse as she checked the manager’s emails. There were quite a lot, but it was easy to spot the Angel’s Revenge production email.

Clicking the attached file, she glanced at the door nervously. When her eyes drifted to the monitor, she scrolled just a few tis until she saw her na and then Pixy’s na in the file that made it to the cut.

"What?" she scoffed, double-checking this until her eyes shook as a thin layer of tears coated them. Her shoulders trembled this ti, not out of nervousness.

Seeing this, she was compelled to check the other emails. Much to her dismay, she saw a few offers for her and Pixy.

"Aren’t all these... the projects lissa had done?" she blurted out, and then found herself in the sent mails Manager Kang sent. The first thing she saw was Manager Kang’s response to the production of Angel’s Revenge.

In it, Manager Kang confird Simon’s schedule, then at the bottom, his response to gan and Pixy’s reason for not making it because of a "scheduling conflict."

gan scoffed, growing more speechless the more she went through the other emails. "Don’t make laugh. Just... just what is the aning of this?"
