A human life at risk?
The effect of the sleeping pills made feel dazed. I opened the door and looked at Adrian Gordon, asking gleefully, "Is Sophie Miller dying?"
This completely enraged him.
"Lily Miller! Don’t be so vicious!" Adrian’s face was dark and grim, a look I had never seen before.
I frowned tightly, unwilling to argue with him, and pushed him out to close the door.
But Adrian was quicker than ; he forcefully kicked the door open and grabbed my arm.
"Adrian, what are you doing? Trespassing, I’ll call the police!" I was furious, struggling hard, and in a fit of anger, I slapped him.
Adrian ignored , forcefully dragging out and shoving into his car.
"Adrian, are you crazy! Let out of the car!"
"Sophie is in critical condition; you must co to the hospital with !" Adrian hit the gas, and the car sped away into the night.
I was confused, "Her life or death has nothing to do with ? I’m not a doctor."
Adrian said nothing, his profile stern and tense, only concerned with accelerating.
I began to fear he would drag into madness, gripping the car door handle tightly.
It was only upon arriving at the hospital that I found out Sophie had suddenly vomited blood and was undergoing ergency care.
Her blood type is rare, and the blood bank did not have enough spare blood. Once again, I was brought in as a mobile blood bank to save a life.
Upon learning the reason, I was dumbfounded, finding it utterly ridiculous.
"Why do you think I’d be willing to donate blood for her? Her life is precious, but I’m less than an ant?"
Adrian coldly replied, "If blood is not given in ti, she’ll die. You can donate so and take good care of yourself afterward."
His words fell, and he looked up at , adding a more ruthless comnt: "You gave blood for years before; wasn’t it fine?"
: "..."
Shirley Turner anxiously ca over to urge, "Why are you dawdling? Since she’s here, hurry up and draw blood! Sophie is still in the ergency room waiting!"
I looked over with a frosty expression, "Why draw my blood? Did I agree?"
Shirley justified, "You caused Sophie to end up like this! You ruined her wedding, made her faint with anger and vomit blood, shouldn’t you save her?"
I retorted, undeterred, "That wedding was supposed to be mine. Your daughter stole it! Besides, you forced to be the witness; I rely spoke the truth."
Adrian started manipulating emotionally, "We’re family, why calculate so clearly? If it weren’t for the rarity of panda blood, I wouldn’t be making things difficult for you. You have the ability to save soone but stand by doing nothing, that’s unreasonable."
Speaking of blood type, I couldn’t hold back.
I looked at them, scoffing and questioning, "Besides , there are two others with panda blood here, so why only my blood?"
Besides , Adrian also has panda blood, which is why over the past few years, I could give him blood for treatnt.
My rotten father, Jason Miller, also has panda blood, and I and Sophie inherited his blood type. Mason and Sophie are fraternal twins, with different blood types.
But for , this is a huge misfortune.
This extrely rare panda blood raises my risk of survival several tis higher than normal.
Seeing I wasn’t easy to convince, uncompromising, Shirley Turner began to jump and shout louder, "Your dad isn’t well, with high blood pressure and heart disease; how could he give blood? Adrian himself was ill before, and barely recovered, so he can’t either!"
My expression turned icy, like covered in frost, as though the people before weren’t human, but leeches.
They all cling to , desperately trying to suck my blood dry.
"So tonight, you must draw my blood?"
"Absolutely!" Shirley cried out in desperation, "Sophie is your own sister. If you turn a blind eye, you’ll be cursed!"
Adrian’s face showed astonishnt as he looked at Shirley and asked, "Own sister?"
Shirley’s face froze, realizing she had let slip a secret she shouldn’t have, attempting to cover it up but was too late.
I glanced at Adrian, seeing no need for secrecy anymore, I sneered, "You just figured it out now? Sophie and Mason are my half-siblings from the sa father."
Adrian was even more astonished, "Half-siblings? But they’re only two years younger than you..."
"Yeah, my scumbag father cheated even before I was born, maybe even earlier. He went to great lengths to force my mom to divorce, just to bring the den of foxes into the household."
Adrian’s shocked gaze shifted between Jason and Shirley.
"This matter...you never told ," he mumbled, his expression complicated, as though realizing he had done sothing wrong.
"Family sha shouldn’t be publicized, why would I ntion it to you? Aren’t you always touting your intelligence? How did you not figure it out?"
With such rare panda blood, both Sophie and I have the sa blood type—shouldn’t a logical mind have questioned it?
Seeing Adrian’s silence, I continued, "By now, you should understand why I reject Sophie, why I won’t save her."
I thought Adrian, after learning the truth, would realize he had been deceived by Sophie, would realize how he wronged .
To my surprise, he quickly formulated a new logic, looking at saying, "It wasn’t Sophie who made mistakes; she is innocent in her illness."
Huh? What?
I was speechless in anger, my thoughts scrambled for a while, "Since joining the Miller Family, she’s competed with for everything. I’ve had to tolerate her and Mason in every matter, bullied by them, is that innocence? Now, she’s stolen my fiancé, my wedding, my handmade wedding gown—is that innocence too?"
Adrian impatiently replied, "Those are different issues; mixing them serves no purpose."
I stared at him, feeling that this handso face was uglier than a demon.
I didn’t want to say anything more and began to walk away.
Adrian turned and grabbed .
"Let go."
He looked up, showing that gloomy, despondent face.
In the past few years, whenever we had conflicts, as soon as he presented this appearance and spoke kindly, I would compromise imdiately.
Today, he perford that old trick again.
"Lily, it’s my fault, I’m sorry. You’re always the kindest, softest-hearted...Sophie is in critical condition, will you save her? Mom ntioned she’s your own sister..."
Mom? He addressed Shirley Turner so smoothly.
Looking at his pitiful appearance, my mind turned, and I suddenly changed my attitude: "I could save her, depending on your sincerity."
Adrian imdiately asked, "What do you want? We’ll agree to anything."
I turned to Jason, "You’ll agree to grant the remaining shares belonging to Mom after the wedding—bring in a lawyer now to sign the agreent."
Jason was infuriated, "You made a ss of the wedding, making a laughing stock, and now you have the gall to ask for shares?"
Turning away to leave.
Shirley hurriedly said, "Alright! All of your dead mother’s shares belong to you!"
Jason was reluctant to let go, wanted to speak, but Shirley shouted at him, "Is your daughter’s life more important than shares? If she doesn’t make it, I’m not done with you!"
Jason imdiately fell silent.
I looked at Adrian again, deliberately naming a high price, "Drawing blood poses health risks for , it’s not excessive to take so compensation, right?"
He nodded, "State your price."
"Every 100CC, one million."
"Lily, you rip—" Shirley was about to curse when Adrian unhesitatingly agreed, "Alright."
He surely cherishes Sophie dearly.
Having negotiated the terms, we drafted an agreent on the spot, both parties signed and stamped it—co morning, they would fulfill their promises.
After finishing everything, I saw them breathe a collective sigh of relief and exchange glances, as if saying they finally found their fool.
Shirley urgently urged the nurse to take for blood drawing.
As the nurse approached, I smiled and asked, "Isn’t it true that you can’t donate blood after taking sleeping pills?"
