Chapter 849: Chapter 857: Abyanabad Men Can’t Accept Prenuptial Agreements (2)
"But..."
"I want to eat satay tomorrow, can you make it for me?" Adrian Desmond suddenly said.
Melanie Carpenter’s eyes lit up, and she covered her mouth, too excited to speak for a moment.
Not getting the answer he wanted, Adrian looked at Melanie with dissatisfaction, "Are you not free tomorrow?"
"I’m free, I’m free!"
"Then..."
Melanie quickly replied, "I’ll make it for you tomorrow! I’ll go early to buy the freshest ingredients and use the best spices to make the world’s most delicious."
Adrian smiled at her, "Then I’ll come back early tomorrow."
— Then I’ll come back early tomorrow.
— Then I’ll come back early tomorrow.
— Then I’ll come back early tomorrow.
Adrian’s words echoed in Melanie’s ears, and she automatically pictured a husband going to work and saying these words to his wife before leaving.
"Yes, I’ll wait for you to return," she said with a trembling voice.
"It’s late, you should go back now."
Adrian couldn’t keep up the act and waved her off, sending her away.
Melanie gently said, "Then you should also rest early."
"Hmm."
"Sixth Brother, remember to eat the Fish Balls, I’ve made them for a long time."
"Hmm." Adrian’s tone was already growing impatient, but the immersed Melanie didn’t realize.
Melanie took a few steps, then came back, "The Fish Balls are cold, let me heat them up for you."
"No need!"
"But they’re not good when cold."
"I’ve been having too much internal heat lately, I prefer cold food."
"Oh, I see." Melanie looked at Adrian with a dreamy look, like a woman in her late twenties gazing with a schoolgirl’s fantasy, making Adrian get goosebumps all over.
Actually, Melanie should be in a Psychiatric Hospital. If she stayed in there, maybe she would have been cured by now.
"I’m tired, please leave now!"
"Sixth Brother, then you rest well. I’m leaving... I’m really leaving..."
Adrian’s inner monologue was: Hurry up and get out!
After finally sending Melanie away, just as Adrian relaxed, Melanie suddenly came back, startling him.
"Sixth Brother..."
"What else?" Adrian said, unhappy.
"Well, I wanted to ask, which rice do you want for the satay? Local rice from Abyanabad, or jasmine rice?"
"Jasmine rice!" Adrian randomly said, just hoping the woman would quickly leave.
"Okay, I’ll go buy jasmine rice freshly produced this year."
"Leave, I have things to do!" Adrian stared at her, his tightly pressed lips revealing his current displeasure.
But the blissfully immersed Melanie completely idealized Adrian, not noticing, "Then I’m leaving."
"..."
"Sixth Brother, I’m really leaving."
Melanie walked out, turning back every three steps, her reluctant expression almost enough to squish a fly between Adrian’s furrowed brows. Adrian resisted the urge to physically throw her out.
Adrian looked out the window, his face gloomy.
"Goodbye, Sixth Brother."
After Melanie left, Adrian immediately got up, afraid she might return, and locked the door from the inside.
Thinking of how he used to be so clingy with Sienna Johnson back then, Adrian finally understood why Sienna never liked him.
It was really... annoying!
Adrian went back, sitting on the sofa, looking at the plate of now cold Fish Balls, his heart also turning cold.
His own family wanted to poison and kill him, who could endure that?
Windridge Pavilion,
Melly, seeing Melanie leaving with pink bubbles all around her and clutching her blushing face, finally emerged from behind the tree to report back to Sienna Johnson.
Melly recounted to Sienna all that Melanie said to Adrian, and upon hearing it, Sienna gave a cold snort.
She asked, "What was the Sixth Master’s reaction?"
"I overheard from outside, I don’t know how the Sixth Master reacted."
"Is the Sixth Master alone in the study now?"
"Yes."
"I’ll go take a look." Sienna got up, and Vivian Abbey stood up as well, "President Johnson, are you staying at my place tonight?"
"No, you should rest early."
"Alright, okay."
Vivian escorted Sienna to the entrance of Windridge Pavilion, watching Melly accompany the pregnant Sienna until they were out of sight, then she turned around, intending to go back.
Just after locking the small gate of Windridge Pavilion, she was startled by the man standing in the yard.
Clutching her chest, her heart almost jumped out, and under the moonlit night stood the tall figure of Brett Jacobs.
"Why is it you? You nearly scared me to death."
"..."
"How did you get in?"
"Climbed over the wall."
Vivian: ...
Originally, the two of them were doing well, almost reaching the point of discussing marriage, but the woman insisted on signing some kind of "prenuptial agreement" with him.
Brett had never heard of such a thing.
He only knew that once he got married, he wouldn’t divorce. That so-called "prenuptial agreement" would never be needed.
"It’s late, aren’t you going to sleep?" Vivian turned and opened the door again, "I’m going to sleep, please leave."
It was this damned attitude!
Wherever he felt uncomfortable, she seemed oblivious.
"Are you going back to Sileria City tomorrow?"
"Yes. There are a lot of things at the company that need me!"
"The company can do without Madam, but it can’t do without you, a little secretary?"
Vivian didn’t like hearing that, "President Johnson pays me well, so I must earn my salary. I came to report on work to President Johnson, and now that I’ve reported, I should go back."
"What about me?"
"Haven’t we already made things clear?"
"Made clear about what?"
"I lack a sense of security, and without a prenuptial agreement, I won’t marry you!"
