Chapter 268: Chapter 269: Siblings Drifting Apart

"No way!"

"Why would you say that, Sixth Master?"

"Because the siblings of the Brown family are very close. One of them is already dead, while the other is their blood relative who is still alive. Carole Brown would never send her own brother to prison," Adrian Desmond said with a slight smile. "And, Kenh Brown certainly has a way to deal with his naive sister."

Simple Carole Brown is no match for the cunning Kenh!

Walter Klein still had something he didn’t understand. "Sixth Master, I don’t understand. Sabrina Johnson is not a good person, so why doesn’t she expose Kenh Brown as the thief of the formula?"

"Because Sabrina Johnson wants Sienna Johnson to marry Kenh Brown more than anyone else!"

"Why?" Walter Klein felt his mind couldn’t keep up with all their schemes and conspiracies.

"Because Kenh Brown can’t bring Sienna happiness. And Sabrina Johnson is the woman who most hates seeing Sienna happy! The more unhappy Sienna is, the happier Sabrina will be. Sienna is proud and arrogant. What do you think she would do after marriage, when she discovers that Kenh Brown is the one who stole the formula?"

"She would definitely divorce him!"

"That’s right! By that time, Sienna Johnson would be a laughing stock, and Sabrina Johnson would be the one waiting to watch the spectacle."

It wasn’t that Sabrina Johnson wouldn’t tell; of course, she would, just not now. If Sienna Johnson and Kenh Brown were to marry, Sabrina Johnson would definitely tell Sienna Johnson that Kenh Brown was the one who stole the formula.

However, Adrian Desmond wouldn’t give her that chance!

「Brown family residence,」

Carole Brown didn’t return until late at night, utterly fatigued. Actually, she had been back for over an hour, hesitating outside the door, trying to gather her courage before finally stepping inside.

How would she face her brother when she saw him? After learning the truth, Carole didn’t even know how to face her closest brother anymore.

"You’re back..." It was her brother’s voice.

Kenh Brown, who had been leaning on the sofa, woke up when he heard the noise.

"Brother, why haven’t you slept yet?"

"If you hadn’t returned soon, I would have gone out to find you."

"You were waiting for me?"

"I was worried about you. You’re a girl; don’t come back so late in the future."

Kenh Brown got up and went into the kitchen. In a short while, he brought out a bowl of steaming hot chicken soup.

"I made this soup for you. Drink it. Look how thin you’ve become lately. Mom even blames me for not taking good care of you."

Carole Brown was overwhelmed with emotions, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Brother, don’t be so good to me."

"You’re my dear sister. If I’m not good to you, who should I be good to?" Kenh Brown chuckled. "Why are you crying? Just a bowl of chicken soup moved you this much."

He got up, walked over to his sister, and reached out, gently patting her head as he had when they were children. "Drink the chicken soup and go to bed early. You have work tomorrow."

"Good night!"

The harsh, accusatory words she had prepared were stuck in her throat. Even holding the evidence, she lacked the courage to confront him.

As Kenh Brown turned to go back to his room, Carole Brown suddenly asked, "Brother, why did you steal the formula?"

Kenh Brown abruptly turned around, his eyes filled with fear. "What do you know?"

Tears streamed silently down Carole Brown’s face. She felt as if her eyes would go blind from all the crying recently, yet the tears continued to flow.

"Tell me! What do you know?" Kenh Brown screamed hysterically at her.

"I know it was you who stole the formula," Carole Brown said calmly.

"Do you have evidence?"

"I saw the video," Carole said, looking straight into her brother’s eyes. Just as she finished speaking, a murderous intent flashed in Kenh’s eyes. "Who gave it to you?"

"I found it myself."

"Someone must have given it to you! You can’t keep things to yourself. If you’d known all along, you couldn’t possibly have acted as if nothing had happened. Tell me, who was it?"

"Be good, Carole, and tell your brother."

"If the police see that video, your brother will go to jail. Carole, do you really have the heart to push your beloved elder brother into a pit of fire?" Kenh Brown tried to appeal to her emotions and reason, attempting to get his sister to reveal who else had the evidence.

Carole Brown only felt that the man in front of her was a stranger, frightening. "If I tell you, will you kill them to silence them?"

"Carole Brown, don’t push me!" Kenh Brown shouted angrily.

As the siblings stared at each other, Carole truly saw murderous intent in her brother’s eyes. She wasn’t afraid; she just felt sad—sad for her own brother. What had happened to make her brother become like this?

"Brother, tell me, why did you do this?"

Kenh Brown slumped onto the sofa, clutching his head as he said, "One day, I went to a bar with some friends for drinks. When I woke up, I found myself in bed with three prostitutes... Sabrina Johnson saw it and threatened me with it, forcing me to steal the formula!"

"If Sienna finds out, our relationship will be over! I can’t let this happen! So, I agreed to Sabrina Johnson’s request!"

"I stole the formula for Sabrina Johnson, and Sabrina Johnson helped me cover up that incident!"

Having held the secret bottled up for so long, it felt like it had caused internal injuries. Kenh Brown finally had someone to confide in. As he spoke it aloud, he felt a sense of relief.

He wasn’t a bad person; he was just forced, step by step, into this situation.

So that was his pathetic reason. Carole Brown looked at her brother in disappointment and asked, "Then why did you frame my Qi Ming? Qi Ming had no grudge against you!"

"Because I needed a scapegoat, and Qi Ming was perfect. He has no connections in Sileria City and is too naive..." Kenh Brown didn’t say the rest, but he fundamentally didn’t want his sister to marry a man like Qi Ming.

Qi Ming wasn’t good enough for his sister!

"Brother, Qi Ming is my boyfriend. Did you ever think of me when you made him the scapegoat?"

Kenh Brown suddenly stood up and shouted, "I did it for your own good! That Qi Ming can’t give you happiness! Do you know what Qi Ming’s gambling-addicted father did with the compensation money from his son’s death?"

"He didn’t mourn his son’s death at all. Instead, he took the death compensation to gamble and drink! Carole, that gambler is Qi Ming’s father. Qi Ming couldn’t possibly ignore him. If he takes care of him, it will be a lifelong burden. How could you be happy marrying into such a family?"

In the past, her brother had planned everything for her, and she had felt happy. But now, she was utterly fed up with it.

"You’re not me. How can you decide I wouldn’t be happy?"

Kenh Brown didn’t argue with her. "I’m your brother. I won’t harm you!"
