Chapter 642: Extra Nineteen: Ink Dot Plum Scent (Part Seventeen)
Alia Smith was already sowhat weak. After waking up and crying for a while, she fell asleep again.
When she woke up again, it was already past noon.
“Awake?” William Lane touched her face.
Alia’s eyes were a bit dry due to crying before falling asleep. She blinked, “Have you been here the whole ti?”
“Mm.”
“How about the company and the research institute?” Alia raised her left hand and touched her eyes. The IV needle had already been removed.
“They’re okay.” William Lane said, “Roy Madison and Harton Clark are at the research institute. My father is handling the company, and if he doesn’t want to, Lila Campbell can help as well.”
“Miss Lane is really busy.” Alia comnted.
William Lane smiled, “Do you want to eat sothing?”
“Yes,” Alia said, “I’m a bit hungry now.”
William Lane sent a ssage to order food: “I’ve asked soone to buy it. Wait for a while.”
The food arrived quickly. Since Alia had not eaten in a long ti, they bought easily digestible als.
The small table was set up on the bed, and Alia sat up with her left hand holding a spoon, ready to eat so porridge.
Yet, her spoon was soon taken away by William Lane, as was the porridge.
William Lane scooped so porridge, blew on it, and brought it to her lips.
Alia looked at him and slowly pursed her lips.
“What’s wrong? Do you think the porridge I’m feeding you is poisoned?” William Lane asked.
Alia glanced at him and then at the porridge, “What if it is?”
William Lane was speechless, staring at her.
Alia smiled, “I’ll eat by myself.”
“Hmph, no way.” William Lane said coldly and forcefully, “Open your mouth.”
With no other choice, Alia obediently opened her mouth.
Young Master Lane was pleased after feeding her the porridge.
After eating a small bowl of porridge, Alia couldn’t eat any more. William Lane tidied up and put away the food, lowered the small table, and poured her a glass of water.
Alia held the glass in her left hand and took small sips, “Aren’t you eating?”
“In a while.” William Lane took out a small hairband from nowhere, “First, let tie your hair.”
“Is it very ssy?” Alia asked.
“Not too ssy.” William Lane said, “Just the normal ss.”
Alia: “……”
Seeing her dazed appearance, William Lane leaned down and kissed her lips, “It’s a bit ssy, but it doesn’t affect your beauty.”
Alia ignored that, with her eyes downcast and her ears red, staying quiet as he combed her hair.
William Lane finished the braid for her. His technique was very skillful, and the result was beautiful.
Alia touched it, “Elder Brother, how do you know how to do everything?”
“Because I have two sisters at ho who need to look beautiful every day.” William Lane adjusted her loose hair on the forehead and kissed her brow, “I used to tie their hair when they were young.”
“It’s great to have a brother like you.”
William Lane sat down and raised his eyebrows, “It’s also great to have a husband like .”
Alia blinked her doe eyes, trying to pretend to be calm after hearing his words but failing after two seconds.
She hastily looked away, not knowing where to fix her gaze.
Glancing at the entrance, she saw half a head poking out from the right side of the glass door, as if eavesdropping.
Alia quickly pulled William Lane’s arm with her left hand.
“What’s the matter?” William Lane had just taken a bite of food.
“There’s soone at the entrance.” Alia said.
William Lane was puzzled and imdiately got up to walk towards the entrance.
As he opened the door, he first startled Olivia Lane, who had been eavesdropping at the doorway.
Then he saw Olivia Lane behind Hugo Clark, and Charlotte Lane and Kevin Clark on the other side of the door.
William Lane looked at the four of them: “……”
Olivia Lane was holding a bunch of flowers, and when she saw William Lane, she grinned, “Brother. We ca to see our sister-in-law.”
William Lane gently tapped her forehead: “Nope.”
“Why are you so stingy? We can’t even take a look.” Olivia Lane said and then crawled under his arm into the ward.
Hugo Clark laughed a little.
William Lane glared at him.
Hugo Clark: “…….”
Charlotte Lane walked into the ward from the other side of William Lane.
Kevin Clark…watched the interaction between William Lane and Hugo Clark.
In the end, William Lane entered the room, and Kevin Clark still teased Hugo Clark rcilessly.
Hugo Clark felt a lump in his chest.
Inside the ward, Olivia Lane put the flowers on the bedside table, then pulled up a chair and squeezed beside the bed, resting her elbows on it. She put her hands on her face and looked at Alia Smith with a beaming smile, “Sister-in-law, I am Olivia Lane. You can just call Olivia.”
Alia Smith looked at her, left hand rubbing the quilt, “Nice to et you.”
Charlotte Lane stood behind Olivia Lane, put her hand on Olivia’s forehead, and tilted her head back, “This makes you look like you have a low IQ.”
“How can that be?” Olivia Lane looked up at Charlotte Lane, “I’m very smart.”
Charlotte Lane laughed lightly then looked at Alia Smith, “What did the doctor say?”
” Just a mild concussion, I’ll be discharged from the hospital in two days,” Alia Smith said, “Thank you, Miss Lane, for making the trip.”
“Just call Charlotte,” Charlotte Lane touched Olivia’s face, “We are family, no need to be so polite.”
Olivia Lane watched Alia Smith nod agreent.
Alia felt a little embarrassed by Olivia’s stare and her face started to turn red.
Just then, William walked over and imdiately covered Olivia’s eyes, “What are you doing? I already said you can’t look.”
Olivia Lane held William Lane’s wrist, “Brother, when did you beco so stingy? Our sister-in-law is much more generous than you.”
Alia Smith and William Lane exchanged a glance, then quickly looked down.
Charlotte Lane raised her eyebrows, a faint smile in her eyes.
“Sister-in-law, can you control my brother? He’s bullying .” Olivia Lane cried out.
“No wonder you found a backer.” William Lane let her go.
Olivia Lane moved closer to the bed, gently holding Alia Smith’s right hand. Her mission today was to help her brother woo a wife and let her feel the kindness of the Lane family, “One of my many strengths is knowing how to cling to powerful figures.”
“You’re quite pleased with yourself.” William Lane said.
Alia Smith felt the warmth in her hand, her trembling eyelashes hinting at the warmth in her heart.
However, with the arrival of Kevin Clark and Hugo Clark, her warmth was imdiately replaced by nervousness.
Hugo Clark was not a very expressive person and rarely smiled.
Kevin Clark had an intimidating appearance. Except when looking at Charlotte Lane tenderly, he seed very distant when looking at others.
Noble and unapproachable, his aura was overwhelming.
William Lane introduced him.
Alia Smith greeted them nervously, “Third Master, Young Master Clark.”
William Lane sat on the other side of the bed and touched Alia’s head, “No need to be so polite with them. This one is my brother-in-law.”
Kevin Clark, considering that Alia Smith was present, saved face for William Lane.
“As for him…” William Lane looked at Hugo Clark, “He’s my enemy.”
Hugo Clark: “……”
Olivia Lane ignored them and played with Alia Smith’s hand.
Charlotte Lane and Kevin Clark both smiled slightly.
Alia Smith’s eyes circled around, observing their reactions. She then looked at Olivia Lane.
Olivia Lane t her gaze with a pitiable and helpless look.
Alia Smith smiled at her sympathetically.
