Chapter 454: Chapter 398: Gaining Control

The journey from the Research Institute to the School, William Lane managed to cut it in half by speeding in the car.

The car stopped at the school entrance, and he rushed out.

Alie Quentin was squatting at the entrance, staring at the ground, her small shoulders shaking uncontrollably.

“Alie.”

As soon as William Lane called out to her, Alie Quentin imdiately looked up. Upon seeing him, she rose and threw herself into his arms.

“What’s wrong?” Holding her close, William Lane ran his hand through her hair, “Did soone bully you at school? Whatever it is, stop crying. Your brother is here.”

Upon hearing this, Alie Quentin cried even harder, her words choked with sobs, “Brother, brother, I-I-I…my sister, my sister.”

“What?” William Lane couldn’t make out what she was saying because she was crying so loudly.

“My sister,” Alie Quentin clutched his clothes tightly, “My sister! Daisy Zane! Daisy Zane!”

Finally, William Lane heard her clearly and stroked her hair, “Alright, alright. Don’t cry anymore.”

“Daisy Zane is my sister, she’s my sister! Brother, you have to find her, you have to find her!”

“Okay, Alie, you need to calm down. Listen to your brother.”

“We have to find her first. We have to find my sister first!” Alie Quentin detached herself from his embrace, pushing him towards the car.

Hence, William Lane brought her back to the car.

Once in the car, Alie Quentin urged him to drive off.

William Lane handed her a tissue to wipe her tears, “Alie, you need to listen to your brother first. I’ve already seen Lila and we have already had a talk.”

Alie Quentin’s eyes, reddened from crying, looked at him helplessly. As she took so ti to comprehend his words, her previously calm deanor collapsed once again.

Then, she began crying loudly again.

William Lane: “Err, Alie?”

“You’ve been keeping this from !”

On a pitch-dark night, a car was parked under a street lamp.

The girl inside the car kept chattering non-stop.

But… William Lane didn’t comprehend a single word of what she was saying.

He had a feeling that his sister was berating him, but he had no evidence to support it.

Eventually, Alie Quentin began to calm down. William Lane breathed a sigh of relief, “Alie, your brother didn’t an to hide this from you.”

Alie Quentin looked down, sniffling a little before responding quietly, “You have a chance to explain.”

William Lane explained the situation to her, “Lila asked not to tell anyone at ho first. I wasn’t sure how to bring it up to you.”

I had found her, yet she doesn’t wish to acknowledge us.

William Lane didn’t know how to break the news to Alie Quentin.

He wasn’t sure how she would react once she knew.

He was worried that Alie Quentin wouldn’t be able to handle it.

He was also afraid that her reaction wouldn’t be any better than it is now.

She might go ahead and find Lila Campbell imdiately.

She might even drag Lila Campbell back ho, causing a huge scene.

William Lane had promised Lila Campbell he would give her ti, and he didn’t want Alie Quentin to be upset. So he decided to keep this a secret.

Waiting for Lila Campbell to adjust to the situation sowhat, he then planned to tell Alie Quentin. He did not expect her to find out so soon.

“Alie, Lila has not returned ho for ten years, and she doesn’t rember what happened in the past,” William Lane said softly. “To her… we are practically strangers. We need to give her so ti and not force her to do anything, agreed?”

Alie Quentin was silent for a mont before replying with a thick nasal voice, “How could my sister forget .”

“But your sister still treats you well, doesn’t she?” William Lane tucked her hair behind her ear, “Your sister will take good care of you and protect you.”

Alie Quentin stayed silent again before responding, “Hmm.”

“How did you recognize her?” Asked William Lane.

“How did you?” Alie Quentin shot back.

“I recognized her when I saw her on the rooftop of the hotel,” William Lane declared.

Alie Quentin recalled his reaction back then. Hence, he was so agitated not because he was angry but because he had recognized her, “But she looks different now than she did back then.”

“Yes, indeed. You must have had your suspicions too. That’s why you beca so attached to her.”

“Hmm.” Alie Quentin acknowledged, “I compared her handwriting, but it didn’t match.”

William Lane couldn’t help but laugh. “So how did you recognize her?”

“The tattoo, the one on her shoulder,” Alie Quentin admitted, “She revealed it while recording a show at the school. My roommate saw it. Today, they saw mine too, and said they were the sa.”

William Lane imdiately rembered the tattoos they both had.

Both shaped like crowns, intertwined with intricate patterns. When put together, they ford the totem of the Lane.

The designs were drawn by Lila Campbell and each one of them got a tattoo.

At the age of ten, Lila Campbell took the six-year-old Alie Quentin to get a tattoo.

No one knew how they managed to convince their maid to give them the tattoos.

Nevertheless, when they were discovered…

Sophie Ortiz was furious.

Both girls were reprimanded while the other three n in the family, William Lane, Andrew Lane, and The Old Master Lane watched from afar, too afraid to intervene.

Everyone had to stand in attendance while only Sophie Ortiz was seated, scolding the girls for over two hours.

It ended when Alie Quentin started crying.

“But… she did the DNA identification with the Miles family, which is why I…” Alie Quentin began.

William Lane interjected, “She is not Daisy Zane. She simply used Daisy Zane’s identity. As to exactly how things happened… I am also not clear of the details.”

Alie Quentin nodded before being silent for a while. She then asked, “Do our parents know?”

“I haven’t told them yet,” William Lane declared. “When I ca ho from Grandfather’s, Dad had already gone to M Continent with Mom for the world tour. They probably won’t be back for another two months. I didn’t want them to be distracted which is why I decided to wait until they co back.”

“So that’s why you were hiding it from .”

William Lane:

“Humph.”

“It’s my fault.”

“I want to go ho. I don’t want to go back to school.”

“Okay, good. I’ll talk to your teacher.”

anwhile, Daisy Zane was conducting experints in Continent A, oblivious to the repeated revelations about her identity.

Using the first batch of the 319 potion given by Harton Clark, she developed an elixir to suppress the effects of the 319.

Only after a large number of repeated tests was the elixir rolled out for use.

Fortunately, the 319 in the human body was suppressed.

Although it was not eradicated and there would still be so reactions once 319 entered the body, at least people’s lives were protected.

Edward Kirsten wanted to conduct tests using different dosages of the 319 potion.

Therefore, they could only cooperate with the hospital to asure the 319 in each person identified, developing targeted elixirs batch by batch, and producing them in bulk.

This process required massive manpower and resources.

It took nearly two months of constant experinting, researching, and production, before the situation in Continent A was brought under control.

anwhile, over these two months, Continent A kept investigating and tracing the source of 319.

They were strictly prevent the further spread of 319. As soon as it was discovered, it was imdiately seized.

All this while, tily control asures ant that dead bodies in the sea did not spread infectious viruses.

In response to the situation in Continent A, all other continents also stepped up their precautions.

The grim situation seed to be temporarily under control.
