"Hmm, there is not much of an impact. She’s just a little rattled because she was knocked out by that gas. Other than that, everything seems to be just fine with her."

The doctor assured Damian, but he did not seem to be reassured. His figure lood over the doctor, causing the doctor to feel scared and tense.

The pressure in the room felt suffocating.

"Are you sure that is all, doctor?"

Damian asked, and the doctor let out a nervous chuckle as he looked at Damian.

A bead of sweat rolled down the doctor’s temple.

"I assure you, sir. Nothing is wrong with her at the mont. She is just under the drugs’ influence, so her system is acting a little slow. She will be just fine with so sleep and exercise."

Damian finally let the doctor go after that, but his eyes told the doctor that he was dead if he

I felt like it was my cue to interfere in this and say sothing. But I felt a little out of it at the mont to do that.

//My thoughts felt sluggish, like they were moving through water.//

Damian gave a concerned look before he turned to look at the doctor. I could tell that they were discussing sothing. But whatever that was, I was not able to keep track of it.

All I knew was the fact that my eyes felt heavy and I needed to sleep.

The next ti I woke up, I felt much more refreshed, and Damian was still by my side. My head felt clearer, and I felt warmth filling up from the inside.

The room felt quieter, calr.

Damian woke up at my sudden movent as well, and he opened his eyes to give a startled look before he imdiately thrust a glass of water my way.

"Thank you."

I told him as I took the water from his hands. The cold beverage helped my throat feel much better. It also helped recall why I was here in the first place.

"Iris...I was following her. Do you know what happened to her?"

I asked Damian imdiately as soon as I could concentrate. His face imdiately tightened when he heard speak, but he did not reply to my words.

The silence stretched painfully.

"Damian...?"

I asked once more to try and get him to speak, but he remained silent. Just when I was sure that he would not say anything anymore, he decided to speak up.

"Iris is...currently missing. According to her company, she is on vacation and would be back later. But those in underground circles know the truth. She was a famous escort for a lot of people, so her disappearance was a known fact."

Damian finally told what I needed to know, and my chest felt a little tight hearing this.

"I...see. So it’s an open secret? Do we know who went after her?"

I asked, and Damian shook his head.

His expression darkened further.

"For now, we do not know who went after her. But I can try to find out if you want to."

He offered, and I quickly nodded.

"I would like you to...if that is not too much trouble for you. I...have a feeling it’s the sa person who sold to the auction house. There was sothing familiar about that voice I heard before I lost consciousness."

Damian did not say much, but I felt like his silence spoke volus. The atmosphere was a little tense, and I closed my eyes...and almost fell asleep.

But I woke up at the last second and blinked as I looked at Damian.

"You look tired. You should go back to sleep. The effect of the dicine has not left your system. Oh, and stay away from social dia. Those are doctor’s orders."

Damian told before he took my phone. That was not fair. I had not even gotten a chance to check up on the situation online.

But sohow, I had a feeling that complaining about it was not going to make things better for .

I felt my eyes close, and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.

Damian’s POV

"Boss, we have checked the footage of the place as well as the surroundings. But the caras were off at that ti. We have no idea what happened to Miss Jenna...please forgive us."

My subordinates cowered in front of as they gave this news. Jason looked at my face before he quickly signalled for the others to head out.

No one wanted to stay longer than necessary.

They looked at each other before they quickly made their way out of the room we were in.

The door closed softly behind them.

I wanted to stop them, but I had a feeling that if I did that, then sothing bad would happen.

"Boss, I know you are angry about what happened with Miss Jenna, but you need to keep a calm head. You are scaring the other mbers as well. At this rate, we won’t be able to find out the truth behind what happened."

Jason reminded , and I knew in my mind that he was right. But my heart refused to hear him out.

"I know...fuck, I do know what you an. But controlling my anger is not as easy as you want to believe...anyway, focus on finding out more about this issue. I just need so ti to calm myself down."

Jason was smart and knew when to back down. That was why he was still alive and in such a high position. But he wouldn’t be here for long if he continued to act ignorant and not bring results.

’Maybe I am a little out of it at the mont. I need to calm down...ugh, I want to see Jenna again soon.’

My insides felt tight with that need, but I knew that I could not act on them. At least, not until I knew Jenna was safe and sound and would not be attacked once more.
