Old Master Yu Wen nodded and waved his hand at Yuwen Kangshi, saying, "Alright, you go do your work."
Yuwen Kangshi nodded slightly, then turned and left.
Old Master Yu Wen watched his departing figure, and the faint smile on his face quickly faded. His expression turned serious, and he sighed softly.
It seems he must devise a detailed plan to make Yuwen Kangshi reveal his true intentions!
Yuwen Kangshi left the old mansion and drove straight to the place he had agreed to et Lian Chengyu.
He arrived early, but to his surprise, Lian Chengyu had also arrived early and had brought soone with him.
Yuwen Kangshi walked over, sowhat surprised to see Gao Weijie. The dealings between him and Lian Chengyu had always been secret, known only to a few of Lian Chengyu’s closest associates. This person didn’t seem like one of Lian Chengyu’s subordinates.
Lian Chengyu seed to sense Yuwen Kangshi’s puzzlent. He pointed at Gao Weijie and said, "This is my junior fellow apprentice."
"What does Master Lian an by this?"
Yuwen Kangshi was still a bit confused.
Lian Chengyu smiled faintly and said, "Our cooperation is now a partnership among the three of us."
Yuwen Kangshi was a bit surprised. He scrutinized Gao Weijie, but apart from the startling dark red scar on his face, he couldn’t discern much else.
"Master Lian’s junior brother must also be of extraordinary intelligence and ability," Yuwen Kangshi probed.
Lian Chengyu knew that unless he introduced Gao Weijie’s strengths, Yuwen Kangshi would not let go of his suspicions and engage openly in their cooperation.
"Extraordinary might be too much, but my junior is the owner of the Demon Sword."
Lian Chengyu asked indifferently, "You must have heard the recent news from Tushan, right?"
Yuwen Kangshi was taken aback for a mont, then nodded lightly, "I heard it was an accident."
Lian Chengyu chuckled, shaking his head with a teasing tone, "An accident is just to placate the ordinary folks. What, does even Second Young Master Yuwen believe such news?"
Yuwen Kangshi awkwardly cleared his throat, "Master Lian is ever so humorous and witty."
His scrutinizing eyes fell once more on Gao Weijie, but this ti his gaze had changed.
Gao Weijie noticed this too. A contemptuous smile curved on his lips as he asked, "It seems Second Young Master Yuwen knows about the Demon Sword."
"You’ve discerned this, it seems I can’t hide secrets from you two." Yuwen Kangshi chuckled, playfully steering the conversation away.
He did know about the Demon Sword. In fact, he not only knew about it, but he also desired to possess it!
All these years, he had been searching for it but couldn’t find its whereabouts. Now the owner of the Demon Sword sat opposite him—was it divine providence or what?
"Does Master Lian have sothing you wish to discuss with ?"
Yuwen Kangshi certainly didn’t believe Lian Chengyu looked him up just for a casual chat!
"Second Young Master Yuwen, I believe you haven’t forgotten our agreent, have you?" Lian Chengyu looked at Yuwen Kangshi who feigned ignorance before him, his expression slightly darkening.
Yuwen Kangshi smiled, saying, "Of course not forgotten, I’m working on the opportunity, but..."
"If you haven’t forgotten, then how do you explain the sudden poisoning incident with Old Master Yu Wen?"
Lian Chengyu interrupted him, asking directly, "Don’t tell
this was Yuwen Kangli’s doing. I’ve dealt with Yuwen Kangli before and know his character well. He wouldn’t resort to poisoning, especially against his own grandfather."
Lian Chengyu’s sharp gaze pierced into Yuwen Kangshi, his eyes seed to penetrate him.
Yuwen Kangshi felt tense under his stare, but quickly regained composure.
A faint smile spread across his lips, and after a mont, he spoke, "This matter will naturally be handled by the police. Whoever is responsible for the poisoning, they will provide a clear account."
Yuwen Kangshi trusted no one but himself. Even with his partners, he wouldn’t divulge all his secrets.
Much less as this involved a matter of life and death. If he confided in them and it beca leverage against him, it would be easy for Lian Chengyu to manipulate him.
Lian Chengyu understood Yuwen Kangshi’s thoughts well. Though he didn’t overtly admit to the poisoning, Lian Chengyu had already concluded it was him.
"I hope Second Young Master Yuwen will rember our agreent and not let greed disrupt our rhythm," Lian Chengyu said quietly.
Yuwen Kangshi perceived now that Lian Chengyu called him out, intending to hold him to account.
But after all this ti had passed, his sudden talk of this matter made it suspicious.
"When do you plan to act?"
Lian Chengyu asked again.
Yuwen Kangshi’s deliberative eyes glead with sharp light, after pondering for a mont, he slowly spoke, "When do you wish
to act?"
Lian Chengyu hadn’t expected this question in return and squinted puzzledly at Yuwen Kangshi, "What’s the aning behind your question?"
