Chapter 1132: Chapter 1134: A Little Underling
"If anyone wants to go down, we’ll let them go."
Jian Chunqiu suddenly spoke up.
Chu Ge was puzzled, "Why?"
"This is the only exit. If they go down, they’ll inevitably clash with the people below."
Chu Ge realized, "So we’ll be the ones to benefit in the end."
Jian Chunqiu nodded, "Exactly."
Chu Ge chuckled softly and sat there even more leisurely, even starting to ditate.
Seeing this, Zhang Ze couldn’t help but frown. Chu Ge didn’t seem like he was here to find the Demon Sword; he seed more like he was here for fun, and now he was just resting after getting tired.
"Young Master Zhang, what do we do? The antidote we took only lasts for four hours; we can’t just keep waiting like this."
"Yeah, Young Master Zhang, your body might be fine, but you have to think about us. Look at that group over there, they’re already fighting among themselves. Luckily, they didn’t get poisoned earlier, or we wouldn’t have known who would co out on top."
Zhang Ze glanced at them, "What nonsense are you spouting? Stop boosting others’ morale while diminishing our own! The antidote lasts four hours, and only one hour has passed. There are still three hours left! I refuse to believe the people underground won’t co up!"
"It’s strange though, how are they handling the poison down there?"
"Could they already be fighting underground? If that’s the case, we could just go down and grab the Demon Sword."
Zhang Ze glared at them, these brainless fools! He didn’t know if the East Emperor Pavilion Master sent them to help or to hasten his demise!
"Are you done babbling? If so, shut the hell up! I’m warning you, as long as Chu Ge doesn’t move, we won’t move! If he goes down, we’ll follow imdiately!"
...
anwhile, inside the cave, as Zhang Ze and his group suspected, the people Gao Weijie brought were losing their minds due to the toxic fus.
But fortunately, they hadn’t started fighting amongst themselves, though they were irritably complaining.
Gao Weijie pressed his lips tight, holding a flashlight, taking step by step forward.
"Damn it, how long have we been walking? Why haven’t we found the Spirit Vein’s center yet?"
"Yeah, judging by the readings from the cave entrance, it should be around here, but we’ve been walking endlessly since we descended. If we keep going like this, we’ll be out of the mountains soon!"
Suddenly, Gao Weijie stopped in his tracks and gestured for everyone to halt, "Listen."
Even with a gas mask on, Gao Weijie had keen hearing and faintly heard the sound of wind brushing against tal, making a clear sound, which excited him greatly.
The others, however, weren’t in the mood to listen carefully; they exchanged looks and said, "Listen to what? There’s nothing! Co on, Mr. Gao, stop shocking us."
"We agreed to work for you, Mr. Gao, but this isn’t just about money anymore. You better pay us more!"
Gao Weijie had hired three people, all his own brothers, to help with the surveying.
Upon hearing this, Gao Weijie looked at him with a disdainful gaze, "You have the nerve to complain? This is the terrain you surveyed. Didn’t you say the treasure was underground here? We’ve been walking for ages and haven’t found anything, yet you’re the ones losing patience!"
The three exchanged glances, holding their frustration but growing increasingly irritable inside.
In fact, the poison they suffered wasn’t severe because they were near the Spirit Vein. The toxic fus were neutralized by the Spiritual Energy, so their poisoning wasn’t as deep as the others at the cave entrance.
This was why they hadn’t started fighting.
As they walked further, they approached a crossroads. Gao Weijie stood at the crossroads, looking around.
By now, he no longer relied on the three surveyors, as their instrunts were severely affected by the magnetic fields underground.
Even if they wanted to use the instrunts, it would have been useless.
Gao Weijie looked around and, relying on his instincts, chose a path and headed in.
The further they walked, the stranger the atmosphere seed.
After walking for a while, they finally reached an open area, but Gao Weijie stopped and didn’t move forward.
The people behind him hadn’t expected him to stop abruptly and couldn’t help asking, "Why did you stop?"
"We might be at the Spirit Vein’s center."
They were stunned for a mont before craning their necks to look inside. So even stepped forward excitedly, but the mont soone took a step, their foot was instantly sucked into the yellow sand on the ground.
"Ah!!! Help !"
That person tried to break free, but the pull was too strong. Gao Weijie and the others quickly grabbed their arm, but ultimately couldn’t pull them back.
Just like that, the person was instantly swallowed by the yellow sand.
"What happened?"
Soone patted their chest in fear, staring at where the person vanished, and couldn’t help but ask.
Gao Weijie squinted his eyes, fell silent for a mont, then slowly spoke, "If I’m not mistaken, this should be the Flowing Sand River."
"Flowing Sand River?"
Gao Weijie nodded, "It’s a river ford by flowing sand, also known as Cannibal Sand."
"How do we get across?"
Soone grew fearful—they were here to make money, not to die.
Gao Weijie pondered, unsure of what to do now either.
After a mont, Gao Weijie looked around, then grabbed a stone and threw it into the Flowing Sand River.
The stone seed to land on cotton, floating on the surface!
Soone was shocked, "What’s happening?"
"Yeah, Old Li was swallowed just stepping on it, but this stone floats?"
Gao Weijie, seemingly in disbelief, picked up a larger stone and forcefully threw it in front of him.
This ti, the stone hit sothing like a soft force field and bounced up.
Witnessing this, Gao Weijie slowly crouched down, reaching out to touch the flowing sand.
Suddenly, soone pulled him back, "Mr. Gao, don’t!"
"This is Cannibal Sand. It won’t tolerate lifeless things, but anything living, it swallows instantly."
The speaker was one of Gao Weijie’s underlings.
