Chapter 1119: Chapter 1121: What’s Going On

Old Master Yuwen nodded heavily, aware of the fact himself.

Yet he also knew that the reason the brothers were able to maintain such harmony was because the Second and Third never coveted the position of Family Head. They understood what should and shouldn’t be done.

They knew that any ambition they had should not be related to the position of Family Head.

But their relationships were simple back then. They were brothers from the sa mother, so how could there be any hatred?

At that ti, everyone adhered to a simplistic way of thinking, without any entanglent of interests. But now it’s different; in today’s society, everything revolves around interests.

"I know you’ve watched Kang Li grow up and have a lot more affection for him than for the other children, but the current situation doesn’t allow you to consider these emotional factors anymore. If this child had any regard for you, he wouldn’t have done such an excessive thing!"

Second Old Master Yuwen said, sowhat heartbroken, "Kang Li may be arrogant and brazen at tis, causing trouble when he’s out, but his heart was never bad. How could it suddenly..."

"Enough!"

Old Master Yuwen sighed deeply, speaking helplessly, "Second brother, you should go back. Let

be alone for a while."

Second Old Master Yuwen was actually worried that Old Master Yuwen would overthink things if left alone. That’s why he returned to accompany him, but he couldn’t help bringing up Kang Li again and again.

"Alright then, take your ti. If anything happens, be sure to call us brothers."

Old Master Yuwen nodded, then closed his eyes and leaned back on the sofa, his face still deeply troubled.

After a while, he opened his eyes and said weakly, "Housekeeper, what do you think I should do?"

No one responded for a long ti.

Only then did Old Master Yuwen realize that the housekeeper had not returned yet. A bit puzzled, he thought, the housekeeper had gone to invite Chu Ge to treat him, and he should have returned by now.

So many hours had passed. Even if he hadn’t returned, he should have at least called to report back.

In all these years, the housekeeper had never failed in this regard.

Frowning, Old Master Yuwen took out his phone and pressed the number one key, a speed dial he had set for the housekeeper and others.

A voice ca from the other end of the line, "Hello, the number you are calling is temporarily unavailable."

The chanical female voice made Old Master Yuwen instinctively frown. He wanted to call Chu Ge to inquire about whether the housekeeper was still at the Gambling Stone Field or had already left, only to realize he didn’t have Chu Ge’s phone number.

At this mont, Yuwen Kangshi pushed the door open and entered. He knew the family would gather today to discuss Yuwen Kangli’s issues, and he had deliberately co back late.

He didn’t expect that by the ti he returned, everyone had left, leaving only Old Master Yuwen in the living room.

Seeing Old Master Yuwen sitting there with a heavy expression, with no one around him, he thought to himself that it was indeed a good ti to make a move.

But he couldn’t, because with Yuwen Kangli in prison, if sothing happened to Old Master Yuwen, Yuwen Kangli’s charges would be easily overturned. Moreover, the old mansion was only occupied by him and the Old Master, and maids could appear at any mont, so taking action would bring trouble upon himself.

Old Master Yuwen noticed soone had arrived. He looked up at Yuwen Kangshi and asked, "Where have you been?"

"Grandfather, I went to the prison to visit my elder brother."

Yuwen Kangshi answered honestly.

Old Master Yuwen let out a snort and asked, "Hmph, did that unfilial son say anything?"

Yuwen Kangshi shook his head slightly and sighed, "I specifically asked the police, and they said all the evidence confirms that it was my elder brother who poisoned you. Now it’s just about what we have to say from our side, but my elder brother..."

He sighed again, continuing, "He refuses to admit he wanted to poison you, and he’s clamoring to see you."

Yuwen Kangshi discreetly observed Old Master Yuwen’s expression, which indeed turned ashen, "Hmph, that useless thing! He wants to see ! Dream on! Let him stay in the cell!!"

The evidence was right in front of him, and yet he still refused to repent. Truly, it’s like not shedding tears until he’s faced with his own grave!

Old Master Yuwen was imnsely angry. He didn’t even know what was wrong with himself; even if Yuwen Kangli admitted to poisoning, he wouldn’t be able to bear the news. However, hearing that Yuwen Kangli refused to admit it made him even more furious.

"Grandfather, your health just got better, please don’t get angry."

Yuwen Kangshi tily stepped forward, handing him a glass of water.

Old Master Yuwen shook his head, sighing repeatedly, "What a sin, truly a sin."

Yuwen Kangshi sat beside him without speaking.

The feeling in Old Master Yuwen’s chest was suffocating, as though blocked by a wad of cotton. Suddenly, he thought of sothing, looked up at Yuwen Kangshi, and asked, "By the way, where did the housekeeper go? I heard you two left together. What was he busy with? Why isn’t he back yet?"

Yuwen Kangshi smiled, shaking his head, "I don’t know. We went to find Chu Ge, but Chu Ge wasn’t there. I was worried about your safety, so I rushed back first. The housekeeper said he had other things to handle, so he didn’t return."

"As for where he is now, I’m not sure."

Old Master Yuwen waved his hand, "Forget it, he’ll co back when he’s done. You go about your business."

Yuwen Kangshi nodded, bid farewell to Old Master Yuwen, and left the old mansion. He did indeed have more important things to take care of. He hadn’t yet finished negotiating with Lian Chengyu over the land he obtained from Old Master Yuwen, so he headed towards the hospital where Lian Chengyu was.

anwhile, at the entrance to the old mansion, the housekeeper hid in a corner, his gaze fixed on Yuwen Kangshi, only erging when his figure completely disappeared.

The housekeeper’s eyes flashed with a sharp gleam. He snorted coldly in the direction where Yuwen Kangshi had vanished.

Quickly, he returned to the old mansion.

Seeing the housekeeper return, Old Master Yuwen looked displeased, "Where have you been? I couldn’t reach you by phone!"

The housekeeper fell to his knees with a thud in front of Old Master Yuwen, crying out, "Master, I almost didn’t get to see you again."

Old Master Yuwen was startled, puzzled as he looked at him, finally noticing so faint bloodstains on the housekeeper, and though his clothes were clean, it was clear the size didn’t fit him.

"What happened?"
