"Pffft!" Fatty Xu spat out a mouthful of water. Ye Tian, with his quick eyes and hands, grabbed an A4 sheet of paper from the desk and shielded his face, narrowly escaping Fatty Xu’s saliva assault.
As the paper fell, Fatty Xu saw a calm face. "That’s all I have to say. Don’t be surprised. After all, I am a fine young man who was born under the red flag and raised in the embrace of the motherland. The nation has given everything. I have no reason not to contribute to it. Please let join!"
When his speech reached an emotional pitch, Ye Tian grabbed Fatty Xu’s hand, giving Fatty Xu the goosebumps. These lines were usually uttered by Xu He himself; how co this kid could recite them too?
"Hold on, hold on! Don’t rush, let think this through."
Xu He, dumbstruck, pulled his hand back and then scrutinized Ye Tian, deep in thought.
The higher-ups wanting to contact him but unable to show up themselves, with Zhang Liang acting as Zhuge Liang refusing the first two visits; this was all reasonable. But who has ever heard of a Zhuge Liang who’d eagerly run over to offer his services of his own volition?
There must be a demon behind abnormal occurrences!
"Heh heh, Mr. Ye, what made you think to co here? This isn’t like you at all."
"Sigh, it can’t be helped. In this world where villains thrive and ferocious tigers prowl, it’s impossible not to co!"
Xu He heard sothing off in the reply and asked, "Then let ask again, who are these villains and who is the ferocious tiger?"
Ye Tian lifted his head and leaned back on the sofa, silently gazing up at the ceiling, and said, "This morning, a woman ca to the temple. Seed to be nad Qin Chuan, reportedly from so big Sect; a young mistress capable of sword flight, who could ascend to the heavens to embrace the moon, or dive to the oceans to capture turtles. Very powerful – Sixth Group is nothing but trash in her eyes, and to her, I am just a fart. Dressed in a pair of jeans, she had, regrettably, no butt, and a white tight-fitting T-shirt. Forgive my poor eyesight, but I couldn’t perceive even a hint of a chest. The parts that should stick out didn’t, and the parts that should be concave weren’t. One can’t bla her; probably all that saving the world has left her flat. They say ’self-sacrifice for the greater good,’ right? Alas, I pity myself for being driven here by such a flat woman."
Qin Chuan?
Hearing Ye Tian’s words, Xu He was dumbfounded. Who was Qin Chuan? Even Zhang Liang would fawn over her if he saw her. This little king of chaos was not soone to be taken lightly. The direct supervisor of Sixth Group was soone nad Qin Hai, and although Liu Han might seem fearso, Qin Hai was the ultimate BOSS. And this BOSS was a mber of the Qin family, none other than Qin Chuan’s brother.
Her actual brother, no less!
"Cough cough, well, Mr. Ye, I’ve got the gist of it now. Let’s leave it at that for now. Since you are considering the grand plan of national developnt, we should set an example. Your application to join will be processed as quickly as possible. Furthermore, our conversation today must not be disclosed to a third person."
Ye Tian suddenly leaned forward, looking sowhat surprised. "Captain Xu, did you listen carefully? My point isn’t focused on the first half, but the latter part. I was forced to co here! If I hadn’t co, that old hag would have made an example out of !"
Xu He comfortably leaned back in his executive chair, pressed his hands down and said, "Mr. Ye, we’re all grown n here, let’s not dwell on these trivial matters. I understand, but for the national interest, every capable and responsible person should devote themselves to the construction of our motherland. Why worry over such romantic trifling matters? That’s settled then. I’ll arrange your group admission as quickly as possible, latest by tomorrow. You can go back with ease, there won’t be any problems."
And so, Ye Tian was sent back just like that, with a few casual remarks. He certainly didn’t anticipate such an outco. He had co over to lant in the first place, and which leader likes to have an employee with deep grievances? But, it turns out, they didn’t even care, making it seem like he had willfully walked into their trap.
This left Ye Tian quite gloomy.
When he returned to the temple on the mountain, the Monk was washing clothes, the little monk was cooking lunch, and Zhang Ling’er and her mother had returned and were chatting idly on the bed with Qin Chuan. The topics of conversation between won are forever incomprehensible to n. Ye Tian glanced over, then withdrew his gaze and went to the kitchen, sitting on a stool watching the little monk cook.
On the ground were freshly picked green beans. Ye Tian bent down to help pick them, while the little monk sat by the stove tending to the fire, with rice soaking in water next to him.
"Little master."
"Hmm?"
"If you were asked to do sothing you really don’t like, would you do it?"
The little monk added a stick of firewood to the stove and scratched the back of his head, saying, "Buddha says, one should not consider only their own desires in doing things, but rather look at whether the act brings greater good."
Ye Tian frowned. How does this kid manage to tie everything back to Buddha? Is Buddha your father or your mother?
"Cough cough, little master, I an, not Buddha’s intention but your own thoughts. For example, if your master asked you to leave your sister behind, would you?"
The little monk shook his head, to Ye Tian’s delight.
"My master wouldn’t do such a thing, and he wouldn’t say such words."
Irritated, Ye Tian threw the green beans he was holding to the ground. "It’s just a hypothetical! I an, if one day your master told you to leave your sister... just think about it, don’t rush to answer. Just think carefully."
The little monk indeed stopped talking to ponder seriously. Ye Tian didn’t interrupt his contemplation, allowing him the space to think, while also weighing in his heart whether he was really ready to dive headfirst into the organization known as Sixth Group.
"Benefactor Ye," the little monk finally spoke with a serious expression, "I still believe my master would never say or do such a thing."
With a wave of his hand, Ye Tian said, "I’m tired of talking about this."
...
In the evening, with a gentle breeze perfect for solitary contemplation, Ye Tian lay on the rooftop, stargazing. The green bird was always busy, either sneaking cuddles from Zhang Ling’er or defecating on the little monk’s head. Later, probably trying to take advantage of the newcor Qin Chuan for an easy stroke of affection, it was imdiately slapped off the shoulder. If it weren’t for Ye Tian’s quick response to catch it and flee, the bird would have been squashed dead by Qin Chuan.
