Chapter 404: 404
Chen Ting was sowhat at a loss.
No matter whether it was National Security or the Dragon Team, they were both directly under the responsibility of the Pri Minister. Even if there were any departnts involved, it would be individuals from the Political Departnt who were solely responsible. It was impossible to involve people from both the military and political circles to jointly appear. It was a taboo inconceivable, not to ntion the difficulty in ideologic communication between the two departnts. Even the simple question of who should be in charge was a significant issue. Those who dabble in politics are not muddleheaded. For them, manipulating the military was nothing complicated. During the decade of turmoil, with just one sentence from a woman surnad Jiang, how many illustrious old generals lost their heads. But then again, although these people are Military Generals, how does that saying go? Even when scholars et soldiers, reasoning is of no use. There have been instances where disputes turned physical, with pounding on tables and drawing of knives. These old generals are not like the current minor officials; these old-tirs are real n who climbed out from mountains of corpses and seas of blood, and having reached the rank of General, their intellect couldn’t be that poor.
Therefore, it was very, very rare for people from both the military and political circles to jointly preside over a matter –local issues aside. When it ca to high-level matters, everything had to be clearly defined and orderly. Chaos was not tolerated.
Chen Ting’s thoughts snapped back to the present. Judging from the current situation, all five people were here for the guy in front of them. Suddenly, Chen Ting’s impression of this young man with a crew cut improved significantly. This guy was able to gather bigwigs from both the military and political circles; what kind of matter could this be? What kind of person was he?
“Shocked, aren’t you? With so many old tirs coming together, can you imagine how powerful they are?” Ye Tian’s remark disrupted the turmoil in Chen Ting’s mind, only for her to shake her head, mute.
“Since Emperor Shi of Huaxia dread of eternal life, immortality, and lasting fa, no one from ancient tis to the present has achieved this realm. Do you think these are re unfounded tales or that there is so truth to them?”
Chen Ting scoffed, “Nonsense and heresy, nothing but deception.”
“But what if soone actually believed it? What then?”
Chen Ting’s face was full of disdain. She herself was a doctor, educated in orthodox Western dicine, steady-hearted and steady-handed when dissecting people. She would never believe such talk. But her expression changed at once as she suddenly recalled Ye Tian’s last words, “What if soone actually just believed? What then?”
Indeed, if soone truly believed, they would surely go all out to realize it.
That’s the terror of belief. Emperor Shi dared to send thirty thousand boys and girls out to sea in search of Pills. If a modern Emperor Shi erged, the result would naturally be…
“Understood?” Seeing the expression on Chen Ting’s face, Ye Tian smiled, a smile that carried a hint of paleness, either due to his mood or the effects of wounds on his body. “Ordinary people with such thoughts can only be dismissed as daydreaming lunatics, but if such thoughts take hold in his mind, then they can ascend to the level of national strategy. That’s the difference in status, and at the sa ti, the tragedy of the system.”
“This plan, did you take part in it?”
“What do you think?”
Chen Ting was at a loss for words.
She had seen too much of this sort of thing. Not to ntion the naless individuals who sacrificed themselves on the front lines without a second thought, even the old veterans of trendous rit would die upon demand for the sake of organizational interests, not for anything else – for the country, for the nation, for justice, for peace. These ostensibly pure words are the best way to coerce people.
And those people, precisely for their beliefs, would steadfastly proceed to their deaths!
Needless to say, Ye Tian was one of such people, only he had a reflective mind and a heart brave enough for revenge than others.
At that mont, suddenly, a loud bang erupted from outside.
Ye Tian toggled the computer screen, and nurous figures appeared on the monitor, all fully ard mbers of the Special Forces, dressed in black without any insignia. This was a common concept among Special Forces, with nothing that could identify them, especially for soldiers on secret missions abroad. Not just the issue of unit insignia, even their clothing would be the sa as the military personnel of the country they were in. Even in death, they must leave no clue as to their national origin. In other words, no matter how one guessed or identified, as long as it did not lead back to a Huaxia person, it was fine.
There were plenty of people with yellow skin; Huaxia wasn’t the only one.
Ye Tian, watching the scenes on the screen, revealed a smile with a deep aning, “They really think highly of , to deploy so many troops. Not bad, not bad, quite a bit faster than my half-hour estimate.”
Watching pairs and trios of people forming various combat formations, Ye Tian figured it out as if looking in a mirror.
“National Security’s? Ha, they’re really looking down on us, aren’t they? At the very least, they should have put together a field army for , why bother with these useless troops? Is National Security supposed to fight? They’re all suited up, sipping coffee in the office.”
Chen Ting curled her lips and laughed. Although she didn’t have a high opinion of Ye Tian, she sowhat agreed with his words. Not to ntion other things, but National Security Bureau personnel would show up in suits even for handling minor figures, as if afraid of not being recognized. Especially that bald old man with the gold-rimd glasses the last ti, touching his own buttocks no less than five tis, a complete pervert.
Ye Tian moved the microphone on the table in front of him, turned on the red switch, and shouted into the mic, “Hey, you guys up front, those three, you’re not forming your tactical squads right. If you don’t know how, go learn from the Navy Seals in the movies, instead of trying to act tough like an idiot here. It’s embarrassing!”
The abrupt voice echoed in the corridor, and the three n in front as the assault troops were annoyed beyond belief, this guy was shaless!
Ye Tian sneered at the screen, watching the flustered soldiers, casually lifting his legs onto the table in front of him.
The corridor was equipped with loudspeakers, and the alarm sound that Chen Ting had activated earlier was transmitted from there. The communications room was the absolute core of the entire space station; it controlled all the equipnt, and making an announcent was naturally not a problem.
Ye Tian gathered nine computers together, then switched the display to the projector on the wall. In an instant, the wall was covered with the scene from the crowded corridor.
