Chapter 80: Chapter 080: Confused Awakening, Confused Slumber Chapter 80: Chapter 080: Confused Awakening, Confused Slumber It is said that Wukong was sleeping in the Peach Garden when he was disturbed by the Rainbow Peach Tree from the previous day, which, to his surprise, had transford into a Demon Immortal.
Upon hearing Tao Yao’s words, Wukong couldn’t help but speculate silently and asked, “Do you know who your father is?”
Tao Yao replied, “I don’t know! My father hardly speaks; I’m always talking to myself, and he never responds.”
Wukong felt pity for Tao Yao, but she seed too naïve to understand loneliness or solitude.
Wukong then asked, “Having been in the Flat Peach Garden for so long, has anyone ever tried to pick your fruits?”
Tao Yao laughed, “Yes! But they couldn’t catch .”
Tao Yao had lived in the Flat Peach Garden for countless years. Many people had noticed her, but her Escape Technique was exceptional. Additionally, she was guarded by a mysterious character in the coffin, so no one had managed to pick her fruits. Those fruits were the essence of her life. Picking one would greatly diminish her cultivation and harm her.
The forty-nine peaches Wukong had eaten on Peach Mountain were of the Purple Patterned Yellow Core variety and did not co from this Rainbow Peach Tree. However, these trees’ mother tree was planted by the Queen Mother in the center of Yao Pond and was obtained by Patriarch Subhuti from the Queen Mother. The peaches in this garden couldn’t compare to those the Queen Mother had planted in Yao Pond.
Wukong nodded and asked, “Aren’t you afraid that I will catch you and pick all your fruits?”
Tao Yao replied, “You are a good person; you won’t harm .”
Wukong asked, “How do you know I am a good person? Maybe I am a bad person.”
Tao Yao answered, “If you were a bad person, my father would have killed you right away and wouldn’t have given you that great stele.”
Wukong then asked, “Oh? Were all those people who tried to catch you killed by your father?”
Tao Yao nodded, then suddenly exclaid, “Soone is coming; I need to go down!”
A burst of colorful light flickered, and she had already burrowed into the ground. At that mont, the Local Deity ca running over to report to Wukong about the work status before ending the shift.
It turned out that it was ti to end the shift again. Wukong said, “You all go ahead. I’ll lock up and co out later. I need to sleep a bit more to catch up on so rest.”
With no other option, the Local Deity summoned so strongn to co over, then they all left the Peach Garden and went back to their respective places.
As soon as the Local Deity and the others left, Tao Yao jumped out from the ground and asked, “Sun Wukong, are you leaving?”
She appeared to be only seventeen or eighteen years old, but her age was probably greater than Wukong’s. Despite spending her entire life in the Peach Garden and being innocent and pure-hearted, she felt sothing indescribable upon hearing Wukong was ending the shift, a bit of loss, yet she couldn’t express the words “loneliness” and “solitude.”
Seeing her misery, Wukong was moved by compassion. If it hadn’t been for his chasing after her underground yesterday, the person in the coffin might not have left. He then offered, “How about you co and stay at my residence?”
Tao Yao was startled and replied, “No, no! Sun Wukong, you should leave quickly, it’s getting dark.”
Without saying more, she darted back into the ground like a frightened rabbit and disappeared. Wukong shook his head helplessly, stood up, and then, cradling his head, turned and walked away. However, he thought about how Tao Yao, without that person in the black coffin to protect her, would deal with malevolent people in the future. Her whole being was filled with Innate True Qi! Even if all her fruits were picked, her physical body alone was sufficient to create a powerful Magical Treasure, certainly hundreds of tis more powerful than those made from thousand-year-old peach wood.
Wukong locked the gate of the Peach Garden, returned to his residence, and continued to cultivate in retreat, hoping to break through the shackles of the Daluo Golden Immortal, but it was not so easy. ditating overnight, he absorbed Innate True Qi continuously, yet he still couldn’t break through the final layer. He also knew that if he had spoken kindly to Tao Yao, perhaps he could have gotten another peach from her, but picking her fruits would certainly harm her essence. Wukong gave it a thought and then decided against it, sowhat unwilling to harm this poor little fairy.
mbers of the demon race were mostly kind-hearted, but those oppressed by humans naturally sought to retaliate against them after achieving the Dao of Immortals. Just as there were good and evil humans, so there were good and evil demons.
Wukong sat through the night until dawn. That day, he did not delay going to work and left the Quiet Room early. Taking the key, he headed to the Flat Peach Garden to open it.
In the Flat Peach Garden, there were a total of three thousand six hundred peach trees spanning a vast area. Upon unlocking the gate, Wukong imdiately found a large peach tree, sorsaulted up it, and lay down on a branch to sleep.
Tao Yao, not knowing when, had climbed to another branch and said, “Why do you go straight to sleep as soon as you arrive? It doesn’t seem right to be so lazy.”
Wukong just laughed and said, “Little girl, what do you know? If I don’t sleep, what should I do? My job is just an idle position, boring to death. I co here every day to sleep, and when it’s ti to leave, I simply go back.”
Tao Yao sat on the branch, kicking her feet and said, “When Daddy was here, even though he didn’t talk much, I still had soone for company. But after Daddy left, I was left all alone, and it’s so boring. I want to sleep too, but I just can’t fall asleep.”
Wukong smiled helplessly, rested his head on his arms, and ignored her, continuing to dream a great Spring and Autumn dream.
Seeing that Wukong had fallen asleep, Tao Yao sighed, then burrowed back into the ground and disappeared without a trace.
Wukong once again slept all the way until work was over, and only when the Local Deity called from afar, “Great Saint, Great Saint! It’s ti to knock off!” did he jump down from the peach tree, straightened his robe, yawned, and listlessly followed them out of the Flat Peach Garden.
Counting the days, it was still a few years until the Great Peach Assembly. By that ti, the peaches in the Flat Peach Garden would just be ripe. Having eaten the Peaches of Immortality and stolen the Immortal Pills, it would almost be ti to turn against the Heavenly Court. Thinking about being crushed under the Five Elents Mountain for five hundred years also filled him with loneliness, but thankfully, he had already cultivated a second body as the Daoist Equal to Heaven, identical to his original self. When the ti ca, he would focus on cultivating his original self in hiding, while the Daoist Equal to Heaven would handle the arrangents outside.
He thought further, what if he could jump out from Tathagata’s palm? Would that change his fate? Destiny was filled with countless uncertainties, and doing so could only guide his fate in an unknown direction. It was too early to sever ties with Tathagata. If he behaved himself on the Journey to the West, not wearing the headband, and cursed Tathagata upon reaching Mount ru, wouldn’t that be satisfying?
Wukong felt that days in the Heavenly Court simply wore down one’s will, with one day dragging into another, sleeping one dream after another. Occasionally, he would chat with Tao Yao.
However, Tao Yao was very naive about everything, so communicating with her sotis faced many obstacles. But Wukong didn’t mind; he didn’t have any good friends in the Heavenly Court. Tao Yao, being an innocent and pure little fairy, allowed him to speak freely and unguardedly.
And for Tao Yao, Wukong was her only friend. Every day, she looked forward to him coming to the Peach Garden early so she could talk with him and relieve her boredom.
Tao Yao also didn’t understand what a real life was, and lived each day and each year in a daze.
Wukong found Tao Yao pitiable because she understood nothing, but perhaps that was a kind of fortune. Yet, he felt Tao Yao couldn’t be lucky forever. Maybe one day, if a Great Mystic ca, they could capture her and refine her into so kind of Magical Treasure. Thinking about this, he felt a bit lancholic; this little fairy after all had shown him kindness, and he should help her as much as he could in the future.
Wukong no longer delved arduously into the mysterious depths of being a Daluo Golden Immortal but instead began to practice the Xia Dynasty Dragon Seal from the Swallowing Dragon Stele. These characters, rumored to have descended from heaven, were acquired by the Human Emperor, who then ordered unmatched craftsn and Taoist experts to carve them onto the Swallowing Dragon Stele, suppressing the fate of the Great Xia.
Latterly, when Xia Jie lost his virtue, the Swallowing Dragon Stele flew away of its own accord, and the foundation of the Xia Dynasty was ruined overnight. Following this, Cheng Tang defeated Xia and established the Shang Dynasty.
Wukong couldn’t understand the characters on the Swallowing Dragon Stele, but he was able to simply use the Swallowing Dragon Stele as a Magical Treasure. He quietly swept it across Tao Yao, and imdiately the Swallowing Dragon Stele said, “This demon is the only Rainbow Peach Tree between heaven and earth, born from the first streak of rainbow light during the creation of the universe. Its fruit, upon eating one, allows one to instantly ascend to the Taiyi Golden Immortal stage without any instability in foundation.”
Wukong had figured out so uses of the Swallowing Dragon Stele; it could peer into soone’s origins and elaborate in detail, which was truly amazing.
Seeing that the peaches on the peach tree were about to ripen, Wukong was filled with eager anticipation.
