Chapter 161: Behind The Mask

"So you’re saying I have to babysit your sister while you’re away trying to figure out if your wife’s parents have sothing to do with her awakened powers?" Uttered Elian who arched his brow at Cassian, wanting to understand the situation brought forth to him, and the young lad responded with a slight nod of his head.

"Yes, if that’s what you choose to call it."

"Hold on, I have work to do, I can’t always be around to monitor your sister’s in and out movent." Asserted Orson as he joined the two n in the living room. He just finished checking up on Catherine only to hear on his way down the stairs that he has to take care of the female version of Cas.

The worst of all Albrecht’s family.

"Why do we have to take care of her though?" Orson asked, gently reaching for the glass of burgundy wine that was kept on the table in front of him.

"Personally, I don’t have a problem with that." Elian shrugged, giving off a carefree impression like it wasn’t a big deal, and Orson, who was about to take a sip of his drink, stopped mid-way when the young vampire accepted Cas’s request without at least pretending to turn it down twice before reluctantly accepting with an open-mind.

"And here I was thinking you’d be the hot-head, Elian." Cassian clicked his tongue in displeasure, solely finding the na inappropriate. "It’s agent red now. The na suits you more"

"I told you not to call

that."

"Get used to my disobedience." His playful smile vanished like mist in the morning, "Inna doesn’t want to go back, and I don’t want her staying there either. Elijah is still out there so let’s not forget to be cautious, who knows what else he’s planning behind the shadows he hides himself in, and leaving Inna alone would be too risky, that’s why I made the decision to entrust her care to the two of you... that is.... If you think you’re capable of handling Inna."

He pointed a finger at the two of them, and Elian’s oppressive gaze showed his disinterest at the idea of having to work with a human. Was Inna that much of a big deal that he needs two n to take care of her??

"Let’s be honest here, it’s clear your new Vampire friend doesn’t like . If I’m going to work with him, it’s better not to hide what we feel." Orson voiced out his thoughts.

"I never hid it." Elian stated openly, his tone indifferent as usual, and Orson looked at him, obviously shocked to hear him admit it without feeling even the tiniest bit of hesitancy.

"Do you have a problem with ?"

"I do have a few words for you, keep your distance from , or I’ll suck you dry." His red-bloody eyes made Orson flinch in fear as he shifted to the far end of his seat.

"Do you hear that?" Orson reported to Cassian, hoping his friend here would stand up for him.

"No one’s sucking anybody dry." Cassian made it clear to the two of them, "it’s not my problem if you two wish to slaughter yourselves, as long as you don’t do that bloodshed shit in my house."

"Sure, I can work with this." A slow cunning smile played on Elian’s lips, tornting Orson who could feel a cold sweat running down his back. He silently made a ntal note to always make sure he runs into Elian only at Cassian’s ho.

"He won’t harm you." Cassian assured Orson who still had his doubts, most especially when those mysterious green eyes kept sending threatening glares his way, and that devilish smile.

Orson shivered and looked elsewhere. He can’t be afraid of a re vampire.

"Are we clear on this?" Cassian asked, wanting to make sure all three of them were on the sa page regarding his request, and they nodded. "Whatever you say."

Just in ti, Madeline and Inna walked into the living room. The sound of the main door closing alerted Cassian and the two young n who were seated in the living room of their presence, and from their expression, it had a look of tiredness written all over it.

"Okay, nobody ask

how my day went, it went perfectly fine and I got my dress ready. Miss Ariana shall send them over tomorrow and no, there’s nothing wrong with how I’m speaking. I’m just tired and need a little rest, so please, just... don’t say anything, and let

go upstairs to get so beauty naps, and then, when I wake up, you three better tell

what this boyhood eting is all about. And yes, I didn’t get hit by a carriage."

Inna’s constant mumbling made the three n stare at her with their lips parted, already speechless as she had already given answers to the question they were about to ask. After Inna disappeared from the stairs, all gazes shifted to Madeline who smiled sheepishly as she said nothing and quickly went up that stairs as well, obviously making it noticeable that they were hiding sothing.

"Am I the only one who....okay I guess everyone saw that." Orson reached a conclusion after noticing their reactions were no different from his.

"Hey, can I ask for one request?" Elian looked at the both of them, and when he didn’t get any response from the gentlen sitting before him, he proceeded to ask with a coy smile that made his eyes glint with mischief.

"The charity ball, I need soone to take

in as a guest."

"You want to attend?"

"Don’t worry, I shall not be exposed." He leaned back against his seat. "If Inna’s going to be there then, I should be there as her protector, just in case sothing happens, I an you never can tell, Fiends can take the pose of a human since they are given the ability to possess the body of anyone they co across."

"You are not wrong there." Cassian agreed, subconsciously biting his lower lip before hissing out. "I ca across one, and he took over the body of a victim. The record has it that he went missing, but he was found... different."

Elian smiled, "I told you not to bother about them, try to stop it instead, and the charity ball is going to be mixed with all sorts of people behind a mask," he winked. "We have to unravel it all before the wonderful ceremony goes wrong."
