Chapter 152: A Hybrid

"What are you saying?" Richard always knew his son had been out of his senses for a very long ti, that did not surprise him in the slightest of ways, but why would a normal human being readily volunteer to enter a death cage as if he had another life saved in his pocket?

Richard was only coming across this side of his son for the first ti. He had imagined it, but never realized how true it would beco.

"Well one of us has to enter and get so valuable answers." Cassian casted his father a side glance before exasperating a sigh. "I chose a good day to wake up at the wrong side of the bed, otherwise I wouldn’t have made this decision.

He scoffed, averting his gaze. "Nevermind that, just let

handle it and don’t interfere."

Cassian certainly didn’t need his father’s fake empathy, right now, he needed to stay focused on what was important, and that includes figuring out what the Fiend knows and what happened to the body of the man it now possessed.

Alaric, who trusted Cassian’s capability without a doubt, finally nodded his head in approval. He reached for the keys in his pocket, and since the Fiend was chained away from the entrance, it couldn’t reach it, and that gave Alaric the assurance he needed regarding his own safety.

Opening the cell door, Cassian didn’t hesitate to go in, and Alaric, who had the intention of leaving the door open, was more surprised when Cassian closed the cell door himself, and gestured with his eyes that Alaric should lock the door.

"The safety of His Majesty cos first." Was Cassian’s remark when he sensed Alaric was about to refuse, and upon hearing that, Alaric could no longer argue as he locked the cell doors with Cassian trapped inside.

"Be careful." Whispered Alaric, and he moved back.

The young lad could hear the creature’s ragged breathing and the scrape of its claws against the stone floor. His keen senses were already alerting him to the dangers that lood behind him, and Cassian unhurriedly turned around to look at the creature who was staring back at him with malice in its ink-black eyes.

The faint but unmistakable scent of sulfur tingled Cassian’s nose, signaling the presence of the Fiend. There was a low growl and a flash of red appeared in the shadowy darkness, reminding Cassian of what he was up against, and he could hear the chains clunk and rattle violently as the Fiend tried to free itself in anger, which it eventually did as the chains broke free.

"Cas, be careful, that thing’s dangerous." Richard felt the need to remind his son who looked unaffected by the sight before him, but his gaze remained calculative as he observed the Fiends’ rage.

The Fiend, who was aggravated by Cassian’s unmoved reaction instantly sprang at him, teeth bared and claws extended, but unbeknownst to the Fiend, Cassian was much faster than it could possibly guess.

Taking notes of the Fiends movents, Cassian effortlessly sidestepped the attack, throwing the Fiend off-guard. He grabbed the creature’s arm after evading its attack and instantly twisted it behind its back, sending rays of pain skittering through its arm to its upper body.

The Fiend howled in pain and fury, thrashing wildly in an attempt to escape, but Cassian held on tight without giving the Fiend any opportunity to break free.

"Where do you co from?" he demanded, his voice hard.

The Fiend ruthlessly sneered in return, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," it hissed.

Cassian tightened his grip, and the Fiend cried out again, struck by the strength of the human.

"Tell

where you co from, or the pain will only get worse," Cassian warned, leaving both Alaric and his father stunned as they have never heard Cassian’s voice sounding so... dark.

The fiend’s eyes narrowed visibly as it stopped struggling, making Alaric believe it was at the point of revealing what it knew, but then, it spat in Cassian’s face, eliciting a gasp from Alaric and Richard.

The creature’s eyes were filled with multiple disgust.

"Go to hell!"

That was clearly a mistake, and the Fiend seed to have recognized it as Cassian’s Amber-brown eyes grew nacingly dark.

In an instant, Cassian had the creature pinned against the wall, its back slamming against the hardness of the stone wall, and when that wasn’t enough, it felt its body being lifted and slamd to the ground face first.

Cassian’s kneecap was pressed against its throat, cutting off its air, and one of the Fiends arm was raised, Cassian, threatening to separate the arm from its body as he tugged harshly at it before stopping.

"Wrong answer," he growled.

The Fiend struggled, but Cassian was too strong for the Fiend to overpower. Thinking of another way, the Fiend tried to take over the possession of Cassian’s body since he has proven to be more athletic, but to the Fiends disappointnt, it couldn’t take the body of the man that had him pinned to the ground.

It has never happened before unless...

Cassian suddenly squeezed harder, and the creature’s eyes bulged.

"Please," it gasped, a trail of familiar blood leaving the corner of its mouth. "I’ll tell you anything." It choked out those words, tapping precipitously at Cassian’s knee with the other free hand as he continued to struggle.

"Will you finally speak?" Alaric asked, not giving Cassian the signal to release the creature just yet, and it nodded slightly, already running out of air.

"Cas." Alaric looked at the young lad who got the ssage. He released his grip slightly, taking his kneecap away from the Fiends throat, but not completely letting it out of his grip in case it tried sothing funny.

"Good," Alaric said, his eyes displaying his proudness before looking at the Fiend. "Now tell us, where do you co from?"

The fiend gulped in air, then spoke quickly. "I don’t know anything, I’m just doing the duty assigned to

by my master." It revealed to them. "She...she has awakened, and I was ordered to find and kill her by my master, that was my mission, you have to let

go!!"

"Shut up!" Cassian smacked its head from behind before pulling harshly at its hair. "We’re not done yet. Who sent you? What master do you listen to? And who are you trying to find?"

"She was a young foreigner who left Whitebrige city’s capital many years ago. She was a powerful white enchantress said to create a boundary spell that kept every creature away from Whitebrige city and also on Carmarthen, but she died and now she’s awakened!"

"An Enchantress?" The king’s eyes widened, "you an a witch?"

"A hybrid, you...ahhh!!!" The creature felt its hair being pulled harshly once again.

"No cursing." Cassian admonished.

"So you’re saying the one who can get rid of you permanently has been awoken? And she’s a hybrid?"

"Yes, half fae, half human, half witch."
