Ye Ling passed by them and said softly, “Were you really instigated, or did you co up with these rumors yourself?”
Chen Shanshan stared at her sharply: “Ye Ling, what do you an by that? Do you have to think so badly of ?”
Ye Ling let out a cold laugh: “Did these rumors not start from your mouth? If not, who did you hear them from?”
Chen Shanshan was at a loss for words.
Ye Ling pressed closer to her: “Chen Shanshan, no need to pretend in front of ! You’re just jealous that she looks prettier than you, has better grades, and is more popular with the boys at school than you are. Now you also know she’s the little daughter of the Huo Family, their cherished gem. You’re probably regretting it bitterly now! Chen Shanshan turned around, and her classmates all looked at her with strange eyes.
She suddenly got defensive and said annoyed, “Why are you all looking at like that? Don’t tell … you all think I made up those rumors!”

It drew everyone’s attention.
Everyone turned to look in her direction.
Huo Zijin was looking at Chen Shanshan.
Chen Shanshan stood amidst the crowd feeling guilty, her face turning beet red.
Huo Zijin walked through the crowd towards her: “Chen Shanshan, what’s wrong?”
Chen Shanshan said, “Huo Zijin, Ye Ling said I made up those rumors to cause trouble! You think, how could I make up such dirty rumors! You don’t see that way too, do you?”
As she spoke, she carefully observed Huo Zijin’s expression.
Huo Zijin heard and just smiled.
She leaned close to Chen Shanshan’s ear and said leisurely, “Chen Shanshan, I’m not a fool.”
Chen Shanshan was stunned as if struck by lightning.
Huo Zijin said, “I’ve known for a long ti that those rumors were made up by you.”
Chen Shanshan said, “Why would you think of like that?”
Huo Zijin: “Such rumors, as they spread, can be easily traced back to their source. Finding out who actually ca up with these lies isn’t hard. If I wanted, I could easily find out who was behind it.”
Chen Shanshan was too scared to speak, unable to say another word.
Huo Zijin smiled: “But I don’t want to waste ti on such things.”
Chen Shanshan said, “If you think of this way, why did you still pretend to invite to your birthday party? You’re not trying to make a fool out of in public, are you?”
Huo Zijin said, “I didn’t invite you, you insisted on coming. Didn’t you?”
Chen Shanshan was again silenced.
Huo Zijin shrugged: “Chen Shanshan, we’ve been classmates, I don’t want to make things too ugly. You should be the one who understands best where these rumors co from. Why the need for self-deceit, and to falsely accuse others?”
Chen Shanshan clenched her fists, trembling all over, tears welling in her eyes, feeling the blood rushing to her head.
Huo Linzhou suddenly ca over: “Yinyin, what’s going on?”
Hearing Huo Linzhou’s voice, Chen Shanshan looked up sharply, nervously and wide-eyed at Huo Linzhou, suddenly speaking incoherently: “Linzhou… I’m innocent, I really am…”
Huo Linzhou frowned slightly.
Chen Shanshan seed both anxious and guilty. She was afraid that if Huo Zijin casually said sothing in front of Huo Linzhou, the image she worked so hard to maintain in his eyes would crumble!
In her panic, Chen Shanshan had no idea what she was saying: “They all say… the rumors in school were made up by , I didn’t, I really didn’t… Linzhou, you’ll believe , right…”
As she spoke, she reached out carefully to tug on Huo Linzhou’s sleeve.

Chen Shanshan, feeling terribly wronged, couldn’t stop the tears from falling, yet she stood with her back straight defiantly: “I’ll leave on my own!”
With that, she turned and left awkwardly!
As soon as Chen Shanshan left, the classmates imdiately beca indignant and began to distance themselves from her.
“That Chen Shanshan is really too much!”
“I think she just couldn’t stand others being better off, so she deliberately badmouthed them to us.”
“Zijin, we’ve been deceived by her all along, that’s why we…”
