Chapter 549: Chapter 549: Negotiating Custody Allocation

Du Shaoheng’s expression relaxed slightly.

Guan Yue continued, “But let be upfront, if you want to bring the child back, you can’t neglect Xixi because of this child. As for , I may not be able to treat that child as if they were my own, because they’re not mine by birth. I might not be able to be like a real mother to him. However, I will try my best to be a good mom.”

Guan Yue wasn’t very confident she could treat her husband’s child from a previous relationship as her own.

But she also wouldn’t show any bias towards the child.

Guan Yue: “As for bringing the child back, in terms of family assets and inheritance rights, you can’t favor one over the other, and I won’t either. If you can do that, … I’m willing to accept this child!”

Du Shaoheng didn’t expect she would accept Junjun, a hint of surprise appeared in his eyes, “You really would accept him?”

Guan Yue furrowed her brow, “I’m not that willing, but what can I do since I love you so much? He’s not my son, but he’s your son. Children are innocent, aren’t they? But there’s one more thing, you can’t, because of this child, maintain any private contact with Li Yufei! This is what we agreed on before, and you cannot break it.”

Du Shaoheng smiled, “Since I’ve promised you, I won’t go back on my word. You’re my wife, Guan Yue. No matter how much I loved her, it’s in the past.”

Guan Yue nodded, “Then… let’s wait for this child to heal first. Xixi is also quite concerned about him, I’ll go tell her later that he’s out of danger.”

Du Shaoheng nodded in agreent.

Guan Yue got up and went upstairs.

Du Shaoheng let out a small breath of relief.

Hearing Guan Yue say that put his mind at ease!

After going upstairs, Guan Yue imdiately told Xixi that Junjun was out of danger.

But she didn’t ntion Junjun’s background.

Now was not the ti.

Everything would wait until after the surgery was successful!

At night.

Du Shaoheng made a call to Li Yufei.

As soon as the call connected, Du Shaoheng said, “Yufei, I’ve gone ho and discussed it with my wife. Since Junjun is my son, she respects my decision. She’s willing to let bring Junjun back ho to raise.”

Li Yufei said, “I really appreciate her intention, but I will take Junjun back to the Li Family. At the sa ti, I will have him change his surna to ‘Li’. ”

Du Shaoheng was taken aback by this.

He felt a bit inexplicably disappointed.

Even though he had already anticipated that Li Yufei wouldn’t relinquish the child’s custody, he, as the father, still hoped to accompany him as he grew up.

Du Shaoheng said, “If you’re taking Junjun back to the Li Family, may I visit him regularly?”

Li Yufei replied, “I have no objections. You’re the child’s father, as long as your wife agrees, I have no reason to refuse. I don’t want this child to affect the relationship between you and your wife.”

Du Shaoheng said, “My wife is very supportive of .”

Li Yufei: “She really is understanding, Shaoheng. Congratulations, having a wife like her is a blessing.”

Du Shaoheng said, “What do you plan to do about Li Cheng? Are you going to divorce him?”

Li Yufei replied, “Li Cheng and I never registered our marriage.”

Du Shaoheng was slightly surprised.

Li Yufei continued, “When I originally married him, I gave him a sum of money, and he beca a live-in son-in-law of the Li Family, considered half a son of the Li Family. So, if we’re to ‘divorce,’ it might be sowhat troubleso. I guess he already knows this child’s background. However, I don’t want him to make a big deal out of it because of a divorce, nor do I want to cause you any trouble.”

Du Shaoheng said, “Don’t worry. Since my wife already knows about this, even if Li Cheng wants to make a fuss, it won’t affect us at all.”

Li Yufei was slightly surprised: “I fear public opinion might be unfavorable to the Du Family.”

Du Shaoheng said, “It won’t be. This child was born during our relationship, there’s no extramarital affair between us, clean and straightforward, no need to worry about those rumors.”

Du Shaoheng’s words gave Li Yufei more encouragent!

She originally had so concerns, but since Du Shaoheng said so, she now knew how to handle it next!

Li Yufei said, “I want to confront Li Cheng after Junjun’s surgery.”

Du Shaoheng: “If you need anything, communicate with in ti.”

Li Yufei: “Alright.”

Apart from the child, they didn’t discuss much else.

Guan Yue was about to go downstairs but overheard Du Shaoheng on the phone. Originally, she wanted to avoid the conversation but realized he was discussing the child, so she figured it must be Li Yufei on the other end.

She listened for a bit and saw that Du Shaoheng soon hung up, then walked over, “I’ve already told Xixi. She’s very happy to hear that Junjun is okay.”

Du Shaoheng stood up, embraced her, and kissed her, “It’s late, let’s go to sleep early!”

Guan Yue smiled, “What did you tell her?”

Du Shaoheng said, “She said that having a wife like you is a blessing, and I should cherish you.”

Guan Yue’s eyes flickered slightly upon hearing this.

In her imagination, Li Yufei was a very strong person, she couldn’t imagine her saying sothing like that to Du Shaoheng.

Guan Yue said, “Seems like she’s completely let go of you.”

Du Shaoheng: “Yeah.”

Guan Yue: “Can I ask, dear, why did you two break up back then?”

Du Shaoheng said, “I’ll tell you, but don’t spread it around.”

Guan Yue nodded.

Du Shaoheng said, “I was always afraid you’d mind, so I rarely brought up things between and her. Originally, she and I were well-matched, and my parents were very pleased with the prospect of our marriage, but in the end, she was the one who broke it off. You know, her current mother isn’t her biological mom, but her stepmother. Her father had two wives, her mother was the first and gave birth to her and Li Yanzhou. Within a few years, they divorced, and he remarried. Besides Li Yanzhou, she has another brother and sister, Li Yanqing and Li Yuqi, who are her father’s children with her stepmother.”

The Li Family was thus divided into two major factions.

Li Yufei was strong-willed from a young age, she never got along with her stepmother, and matters of inheritance were involved. There was no way she’d stand by and watch the inheritance slip away.

Du Shaoheng said, “Li Yanzhou doesn’t have much talent for business, but Yufei, she’s as formidable as her father. Li Family’s success today owes much to her. If she had married back then, she feared the inheritance would end up with Li Yanqing. So, she decisively broke up with and secured the inheritance by marrying into another family.”

Back then, the infighting between the two factions of the Li Family was intense.

Li Yufei, with her outstanding ability, silenced the critics and took up that position.

Now, the Li Family’s authority is firmly in her hands.

She holds the greatest say in the Li Family!
