The Assassin's Redemption: A Princess's Journey to Forgiveness Chapter 27: Dream
Isadora found herself inside a dark room. In her hand, she was holding a knife painted with a scarlet liquid. Blood! Her eyes widened in realization. Had she killed soone or what? Her heart pounded at the thought before she heard a groan in the dark. There, a figure was kneeling on the floor while a pool of blood surrounded him. He seed to be in pain and he let another groan, a louder one this ti.
Isadora approached where he was and for so odd reason, her heart beat wildly with every step she took. Why did she feel this way? The man noticed her coming and he slowly lifted his head to look at her. The mont their eyes t, everything in the world seed to have co to a halt. Her heart nearly jumped out of her skin as she stared at his pained eyes. Why... why did it have to be him of all the people?
He looked at him, his eyes filled with pain and regret. Regret? She couldn’t quite figure out why he looked at him that. Was she the one who did this to him? The thought alone brought a sharp pain to her chest.
"Why? Why did you do this?" He asked, his voice laced with sadness. "I... I trusted you." He coughed out so blood making Isadora to approach him but he stopped her in her tracks with his arm. After all, he didn’t deserve her love anymore. She had stabbed him in the heart. His heart was now bleeding both blood and regret, regret for falling for her antics. He let out a small hysterical, yet pained laughter that made him to cough out more blood. This increased the worry on Isadora and she dropped the knife crouching low to take a look at him. But as angry as he was with her, he held his hand again in a ’stop’ gesture.
He let out a small smile, a bitter one at that before his gaze landed on her. The way he looked at her made her heart skip a beat. His eyes were laced with anger and mistrust. What on earth had she done to deserve this from him? She held her hands as she looked at them in disbelief. Had she really stabbed him?
"Tsk.. tsk... You are pretending to be kind after doing this to . Don’t you think you are mocking by doing this?" He asked before he let out another bitter laughter. And with one last look at her, his body stiffened and fell to the ground. Isadora’s eyes widened at this and she nearly ran to where he was. Her heart was now beating in her ears as the thing she dreaded most crossed her mind. She shook her head in denial as if this would change the fact that he might have died.
"Alexander?" She called him but no reply ca. If her heart was beating loud enough for a person to hear, then it was now racing like a wild stallion. She shook him lightly as fear and sweat laced her beautiful face. How had it even co to this?
"Alexander? Please tell this is a dream." She said and shook him again. "Alexander? Please wake up!" She almost yelled in his years. But no reaction ca from him. Nothing! He just lay there, still and unmoving. She tried all kind of crazy things; slapping, kicking and kissing! Yes! She had kissed him with the hope that he would recognize her, but unfortunately, no reaction ca from him.
And it now dawned on her that he had left this world for good. Yes. She had killed him. As hard as it was for her to believe, she had learnt from him that she was the one who had stabbed him. But strangely, she couldn’t rember doing such a thing. Hot tears were now streaming down her cheeks as she slouched on the ground while looking at her hands in disbelief. These sa hands that had ended soone’s life. The guilt was undeniable and she felt like dying too. How could she even be able to live knowing that she had killed soone. Her eyes landed on the knife that lay on the ground and she swallowed nervously. But this was what she wanted. Yes, she wanted to follow him wherever he had gone. Maybe he might forgive her in the other world.
Her hands held the knife as she made one final look at Alexander’s body. "I am coming to you my love. We will be together soon." She whispered before pushing the dagger through her belly. Searing pain flashed through her every vein as her face distorted. Now that she was experiencing it, she understood the pain that he had gone through. He had every reason to be mad at her. A pool of blood had now ford around her and she felt dizzy after a while.
Was this how it felt like dying? She chuckled in her dizzy state before smiling wryly. It was truly a painful yet funny feeling, she thought. Everything turned black and her world was now filled with total darkness. Was this hell or heaven? She searched through the darkness for that familiar face but she couldn’t even see one inch ahead. One could make nothing out of this darkness. "Where are you Alexander?" She asked softly before a familiar voice replied.
"I’m right here Isadora." She looked around startled but noticed that this voice was very close. A hot breath landed on her neck making her to shot her eyes open, startled by the sudden feeling. She looked around taking note of her surroundings and realized that she was still in her room. So it was a dream! She sighed before sighting Alexander’s sitting beside her bed. He was so close that she could feel his even breathing. Startled, she jumped back at the far end of the bed.
Alexander frowned at her reaction. Of course he knew he had startled her but the pained expression he had seen on her face when he ca in made her worry. She was having a nightmare, or should he call it daymare, and he couldn’t just watch as her face turned paler and sweaty with each passing second. But the mont she ntioned his na, he was both surprised and amused. Was she having a dream about him? But she looked uncomfortable and worried. Was he in so trouble in her dream? The thought that she cared for her in a dream brought a warm feeling to his heart. But how she was acting now, that he didn’t like.
"Would do you mind telling your dream?" He asked scratching his back nervously. He was curious as to why she had called his na in her dream.
"What are you doing here?" She asked instead. It was way too minimal for a prince to visit the maid quarters. And how the hell did he find her room? But he was a prince after all. He had access to all information in the palace. So finding her room was just a piece of cake to him.
"Well," he begun staring at her, "it’s already afternoon and you were late to co and pick my armor and sword. That’s why I ca looking for you." He said as a matter of fact.
Isadora was startled by his statent. Was it already afternoon. She searched for the position of the sun through the window and nearly gasped at what she saw. Had she slept that much? She scolded herself but her stomach growled shutting down her mind. She looked everywhere else but to him, embarrassed by her stomach. She couldn’t even rember the last ti she had a full al. Alexander let out a small chuckle before he stood up.
"I will get you sothing to eat," he said before turning around to leave. Isadora’s eyes widened in surprise and fear. What the hell did he think he was doing? Going to the kitchen and getting food for a maid! It was supposed to be the other way round. Jessica wouldn’t hesitate to fire her if she found this out. She had to stop him now before it was too late.
"Alexander?" She called halting him on his tracks. He turned around before his gaze landed at her worried face. Gods! She was such a worrywart. What had made her worry now? Had he broken a bone or what? He looked at his body to assure that he was fine. When he confird that he was alright, he faced her with a questioning look.
"What is it now?" He asked raising a brow. His gaze bored to hers making her to montarily forget what she wanted to say. She quickly averted her gaze and looked everywhere else at him. There was just sothing to those eyes of his that she couldn’t quite understand. Apart from being breathtakingly beautiful, they were also spellbinding.
"I.. I.. I think it will not be a good idea for a prince to head to the kitchen with a reason of fetching food for a maid. Don’t you think so?" She asked. Her eyes searched for his face but she didn’t know what exactly she was looking for. He seed to think for a while before he smiled at her, making her to forget breathing for a while. Everything about him was just perfect. Even Isa had to admit that his walking style was sohow catchy. One that would make heads turn.
"Okay. You can go and fetch the lunch for yourself. I will wait for you here." He smiled at her before striding across the room and sitting at the bed. She felt the soft material sink before she forced herself to stand up. She didn’t like the idea of leaving him in her room but as stubborn as he was, she didn’t want to start a fight with him. At least not when she had just woken up. Besides, she was hungry and her stomach was now screaming for attention.
She smiled at him before sliding into her sandals and made for the door. She could feel his gaze scrutinizing her body all the while she was walking across the room. This made her heart accelerate and she almost ran out of the room. The door, which was just a few steps away seed like a hell of a ride to her. She clumsily held the knob before storming out of the room, her face painted red.
The mont Isadora stepped out of the room, the maids who were working on the hallway stopped their actions and stared at her. She had not yet noticed this though as she was releasing a long breath after stepping outside the room. Her head whipped towards the hallway and her heart nearly jumped out of her chest. Countless pairs of eyes were staring at her with mixed emotions. She cursed inwardly. Getting out of one trouble and jumping into another. She would surely curse this day the rest of her life.
Isadora swallowed hard as the scrutinizing gazes landed on her. Was she supposed to go back into her room or continue into the kitchen? Gods Isadora! Returning to her room right now would have Alexander questioning her. And as shaless as he was, he would assu her fears and soothe her feelings by... She berated herself for having thought of such a thing. She looked at the maids one last ti before lowering her gaze in sha. The reason as to why they were looking at her that way, she didn’t know. She could only guess possibilities. Did it have to do with the fact that she had spent the night in Alexander’s chamber or did they see him coming to her room. That, she didn’t know.
Keeping her gaze low, she mastered all the courage she had before she paced through the hallway. Gods! Why was it taking longer than usual? As she passed, she could hear the maids murmur her na and Alexander’s. So it had sothing to do with both of them. But she was the only party here who would be scolded. For a prince, this was just a normal thing. He would just punish the gossiping maids and the matter would be hushed. But for her, the maids would tell her openly, not caring about her feelings. She clenched her fists at this thought. If they only knew who she was.
After what seed like eternity, she finally took a corner by the end of the hallway. She leaned by the wall as she released a silent sigh of relief when... "There you are bitch. I have been looking for you throughout the castle. Or were you having so fun with my husband?" Gods! Isadora was not ready for this. Seems the hallways were dood to dampen her day today.
